The Digit-al Dozen Does Fairytales: The Little Mermaid

Today for The Digit-al Dozen does fairytales I have for you The Little Mermaid. But not the Disney version, this is the Hans Christian Andersen version.

There is no Disney type of happy ending here. No, in the original version, the little mermaid saves the prince but he never sees her. He falls in love with the girl who found him on the beach. The little mermaid wants to become human to be with the prince and to gain a soul that will live forever (mermaids don't have souls). She is transformed and must get true love's kiss and marry the prince, if she doesn't she will die. But the prince marries the other girl (gasp!) and the little mermaid is heartbroken. The only way to save herself is to kill the prince and she can return to being a mermaid. But she can't kill him. So the little mermaid throws herself into the sea and dissolves into foam. But because of her sacrifice she will gain her own soul and live forever.

For my mermaid tail I used BarryM Kiwi (two coats), stamped using BarryM Cancun (matte) with MoYou Sailor 04. On my other nails I have BarryM Elderberry to represent the sea. I used watered down acrylic paint to create the smokey/misty foam. The glitter on her tail and the glitter in the foam (yep, that's her dissolved body) is Once Upon a Polish: Under the Sea.

Don't forget to check out the other ladies and their manis!
