The Neverending Pile Challenge: Holo

So, a few months ago I was at my local beauty supply store; looking over all the racks of polish. Rack after rack after rack! Picking up a bottle here and there to see the name, constantly being drawn to ones I already have! (you know what I mean.) And then I spot it. A silver lid on the China Glaze rack, all alone in a sea of black lids, no other silvers around it. Could it be? Is it? I reach for the bottle, tip it over, and BAM!

I had stumbled onto a bottle of China Glaze FYI. I'm a sucker for a nude holo! I quickly put it in my basket and searched high and low for any others. After about an hour of looking through the store I finally went to check out. The guy at the register said I was lucky to find this one. They had recently moved locations and this one had been found. And then he told me the price......$3.75! Ah yeah! Now, I know this isn't one of the most sought after colors from that collection, but this is the best polish story I have! :)

It's just so pretty! And very holographic! I lurve it a lot, lurve it, a lot, a lot. The formula is fabulous, like buttah!

The Neverending Pile Challenge: Least Expensive

The Neverending Pile Challenge least expensive: I had to use my new Different Dimension That's Just Ducky that I received as a gift from an amazing lady! Thank you! I love ya! (You know who you are!) :) I love love love this color and polish! It is amazing! Just gorgeous!

I used MoYou Tourist 04 plate that I won in a giveaway from Debbie at The Crumpet. I used Konad Black and topped with HK Girl Top Coat. I love this mani, how simple but how powerful it is. This is based on The Creation of Adam by Michelangelo, this is the reason I wanted this plate!

The Neverending Pile Challenge: Most Expensive

So for today's Neverending Pile Challenge the prompt is the most expensive. I really had to think about this. I've used all my NailNation 3000s so I could use those but then I remembered I had this mani I did last month and it was the first time I used it! (Though it has been seen on the blog since I did this mani, but I have never posted this one!)

OPI My Vampire Is Buff is my most expensive untried that I have. Don't laugh! I usually buy at a beauty supply store so I get 'em cheap. And now I work at Ulta so I get a discount. But this was the last OPI I paid full price for because EVERYONE in The Digit-al Dozen has it and kept  talking about it, so I finally caved and got it. And I love it! It's a gorgeous vintage cream! Perfect for nail art!

I stamped using a new, untried Barry M Blackberry! (later I bought another bottle of this on accident from a blog sale because it had a different name, Blue Plum. Hahaha! Oh well! I love this color!) I used Bundle Monster BM-017 and added Nails Inc Hampstead Gardens dots to fill it in. (I channeled a bit of Canadian Nail Fanatic!) I used HK Girl Top Coat to finish it off.

I really love how this mani turned out! I've been waiting for a prompt to post them! I love how retro/vintage these are!

Hip to Be Square: The Neverending Pile Challenge and The Nail Challenge Collaborative

Phew! Made it! Last day (for this week at least) of double challenge posts! Today I have The Neverending Pile Challenge: I Had to Have but Still Haven't Use It (Essence Urban Messages) and The Nail Challenge Collaborative: Music/Movies/TV day 4 post.

So, last year I came across a post with a gorgeous gorgeous Essence polish called Skyscraper. Well I had to track it down off a blog sale. I had to buy the whole Urban Messages collection to get Skyscraper. I have already used Skyscraper but not the rest of the collection. So I chose these four remaining polishes as my I had to have but haven't used yet because they were bought with my had to have!

Starting with my index finger the polishes are: Essence It Peace, Essence Street Styler, Essence Nightline, and Essence Wall of Fame. (since these were so sheer I had to use OPI My Vampire is Buff). But look at these gorgeous polishes! The shimmer and flash! Why did I wait to use these?

This is how I tied it to The Nail Challenge Collaborative with D&R Apothecary You're a Star. A lovely square glitter topper. Sadly this indie polish brand is no more. Sad, I loved her glitters!

But wait!? How does that tie into the Collaborative of Music/Movies/TV?

You're welcome. This song has been in my head for a while now!

Don't forget to check out what the others had to have but still haven't used yet!

Just Glue Some Gears On It (and Call it Steampunk): The Neverending Pile Challenge and The Nail Challenge Collaborative

Another day of combing two challenges! Again it is The Neverending Pile Challenge (Boutique Polish) and The Nail Challenge Collaborative (Post 2 of Movies/Music/TV).

I started off with my untried boutique polish Illamasqua Radium (two coats). Boutique polish had a lot of different definitions. I chose to follow the definition of higher end polish found in only a few shops. I got this from Sephora when they were clearancing them to $7! I really love this color and the formula was fabulous!

I stamped using BM-415(gears) and MoYou Sci-Fi 02 (Owl). I used KleanColor Metallic Brown. Holy crud, do you know how long it took me to do this mani? The stamping took forever! Over a half an hour! Stupid KleanColor! I thought it would work since it's a metallic and my others work like a charm. Um, nope! But I really wanted the metallic sheen to it. Should have gone with my Essie metallics. Oh well. I added four dots under the owl because I had positioned him too high and there was no way I was redoing it! Hahahaha! I topped it off with HK Girl Top Coat.

So how does tie into The Nail Challenge Collaborative? How about a song called: Just Glue Some Gears On It (and Call it Steampunk). A hilarious Steampunk song about just because you've put gears on it, that doesn't make it Steampunk. I can admit of being guilty of this! :)

Don't forget to check out the other boutique polishes!

And don't forget to see what the others chose for their day 2 Movies/Music/TV posts!

The Prestige: The Neverending Pile Challenge and The Nail Challenge Collaborative

Ok, I have about an hour (my time) until April 21 is done. So I think I can put together this post in enough time! I've been so busy lately what with my new job at Ulta going from a Beauty Adviser to Prestige Manager! It's so fun to be over all the higher end make-up and take classes about them! But it means I work more (it's still only part time) and I've had less time to put up my posts!

Today I am combining two challenges! First is The Neverending Pile Challenge: Drugstore (polishes you can find at your local drugstore) and The Nail Challenge Collaborative: Music/Movies/TV. I just joined The Nail Challenge Collaborative and am super excited! A theme is picked each month and we have to post 4 manis through out the month of that theme.

So today I give you a mani using two drugstore polishes that have never been used (this is for the Neverending Pile Challenge): one coat of Revlon Iconic and two-ish coats of Sally Hansen Frazzle Dazzle. And the movie I chose to go along with this is quite fitting for me: The Prestige. (see what I did there? If not, read the first paragraph again! Hahaha!).

Revlon Iconic is a really nice grey that has a smoky mystery quality to it (perfect for magic like in The Prestige). And Sally Hansen Frazzle Dazzle is the copper that the Tesla items are made of! Using I pair grey and silver together, but I really do like the way these look! What I don't like is the bar glitter that is in Frazzle Dazzle. Pfft. Didn't know about that when I bought it.

Don't forget to check out the other drugstore polishes!

And don't forget to see what Music/Movies/TV the other chose!

The Never Ending Pile Challenge: A Random Untried!

Today's prompt is a random untried polish. Phew, that's easy, just let me dig around and narrow it down! Hahaha! I chose China Glaze Make Some Noise (two coats) and stamped with Konad Black using Messy Mansion MM14. Top it off with some HK Girl Top Coat and voila! Beautiful and easy mani! Got a lot of compliments with this one at work! :)

The Never Ending Pile Challenge: Pastels!

Today's prompt for the Never Ending Pile Challenge where we use up our untried polish, is Pastel. I love Catrice polish. A lot! I wish we had them here in the United States. There are some online stores that can get them to us, but it's not easy. Thankfully I have a few friends that I can call on to get me some!

I used Catrice Mint Me Up and Catrice Lilactric to create a simple dotticure. Both of these Catrice polishes are two coats and applied flawlessly!  I love the shimmers in both of these polishes too! I topped it ff with HK Girl Top Coat. This mani lasted almost an entire week without much chipping, like only the free edge tips of my nails were showing where I had wrapped them! Love Catrice polish!

The Never Ending Pile Challenge: Glitter!

Today starts the beginning of a new challenge! It is called The Never Ending Pile Challenge in which we post Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday different untried polishes that follow the prompt for the day! This challenge was created by Missy over at Gnarly Gnails for The Glittah Pirates facebook group. If you would like to join the challenge, feel free to join the group! :)

Today's prompt is glitter!

This is Steampunk by Pretty & Polished. I bought this about a year ago? I bought it because 1) it's called steampunk! Hello, I love that! 2) it's a grey! and 3) love the color combo!

This is three coats. Yep three, well, closer to four. I don't really like polishes where I have to use more than two coats. Opacity wasn't the issue, two coats was good for that. Glitter placement and glitter fishing was the issue. But it didn't get thick with the coats and I do like the depth it has!

So I decided to pair this with OPI Glitter Off. I like glitters but hate taking them off! I've tried using Elmer's glue, but my polish just pops off really easily! So I put this on one afternoon, thin layer, waited until it dried clear and added my layers of Steampunk. I topped it off with HK Girl Topcoat. Almost 48 hours later (two showers, multiple hand washings, computer work, bathroom cleaning, and normal activities) one popped off! I think I could have gotten one more day's wear out of this mani but it snagged on something right after washing and putting lotion on and popped off.

Within seconds I had popped off the remaining polish, leaving behind nothing on my nail! I love OPI Glitter Off! Can't wait to use it some more! I really try to get people at work to buy it! :)
