CG Books & Bloggers Swap Reveal!

Remember when I said I was joining another book swap through Chaotic Goddess Swaps? Well, today is the reveal day! Yay! And I am so excited with what I received!

First off I would like to thank Chaotic Goddess Swaps for putting together yet another amazing swap!

Second I want to thank Katie, my swap partner from Life with the D's, for some amazing books (and chocolate!).

Book 1: The Cellar by Natasha Preston is the book that Katie has read but thought it sounded really good. And I agree, after reading the back I'm very interested.

Book 2: Gone Too Far by Natalie D. Richards is the book that Katie has read and she really liked it! I am very intrigued and excited to read it.

Book 3: Winter's Tale by Mark Helprin and this is from my wishlist, and it is huge! I'm excited to read it but I had no idea how big it was! Hahahaha! (so those tied up books, Winter's Tale is the same thickness as those three books!)

The extras: Katie sent me three more books! They are ones that she has never gotten around to reading and thought I would enjoy them (Remember Me by Sophie Kinsella, Somebody Else's Daughter by Elizabeth Brundage, and Fearless Fourteen by Janet Evanovich). She also sent me some beautiful note cards and a gorgeous owl necklace! (two things I collect!). Oh and chocolate, some which has already been eaten and some of them currently being eaten as I type! :)

I love all the books I received and am excited to read them!

Thank you so much Katie!

Books make a person smarter, mentally and physically. Books are a weapon of peace or war. Books are an escape, a haven, a friend. Books are freedom; freedom from our current lives, allowing us to be whatever and whomever we want to be! I'm glad I live in a world where there are books.

So, here's an overall photo, but let's delve a bit deeper shall we?

First up, The Giver by Lois Lowry. I know I must have read this while I was in school but for the life of me I can't remember it. So I wanted it in my collection so that I could read it! This is the book that Kati loves and that was also on my wishlist! Bonus!

Next is Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline. This is the book Kati sent because she was interested in it. Guess what.......I have been walking past this book at Target and it keeps telling me to buy it! And I almost did! So glad I didn't! Great minds think alike!

The last book is awesome because it is the second book to one that I received in my last swap! Win! This is the book Kati got me off my wishlist! Midnighters Touching Darkness by Scott Westerfeld. Can't wait to read it!

Um, this little extra is so perfect! You all know I love owls, but I also hoard collect journals! So this is just icing on the cake! Thank you Kati!

And then check out these totally cute guys! Bookmarks! I love them! I literally squealed! I'm always look for bookmarks and owl ones are even better!

Books 'n' Bloggers Swap Reveal!

Hey Owlets! Sorry I have been MIA the last few days. Reworking the meds.......it sucks.....but, I think they might be working! Crossing fingers! But I was not able to prepare anything else this week and possibly next week. We shall see.

But! I do have an awesome swap reveal to show you all!

http://cgswaps.blogspot.com/2014/02/books-n-bloggers-swap-show-off-link-up.html

So I told you last month I was participating in this Book Swap by Chaotic Goddess Swaps (you need to check them out! Awesome swaps to sign up for!) and today is the reveal day! Woot woot!

First off, my swap buddy was Cook's Reviews. And she is awesome! We have such similar taste in books, when I saw her wish list it could have passed as mine! So the swap partner setup that Chaotic Goddess set up was perfect!

The basic rules of the swap:

Send your partner three books:
1. A book you love
2. A book you haven't read but are interested in
3. A book from your partner's wish list

This is what I got! So excited!

1. Book my swap buddy loves: A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness. I have never heard of this book, but I am very intrigued. It has amazing illustrations and after reading reviews I can't wait to read it!

2. A Book my swap buddy hasn't read but is interested in: The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. Ok, so I don't remember if this was on my wish list or not. But I have been eyeing this book for awhile now ever since A Girl and Her Polish did a mani inspired by it. I seriously almost bought it last week! So I am thrilled that she sent this!

3. A book of my wish list: The Midnighters: The Secret Hour by Scott Westerfield. I have been wanting to read this book (series) for a while now and our library didn't have it.  So I am super excited! I also think it's funny that I gave her a Scott Westerfield book in the swap too! Great minds think alike! :)

I also got this awesome bookmark! I love it! Look! It's an owl! Sa-weet!

This was such an awesome experience and a neat idea! There is going to be another book swap in June so make sure you check out Chaotic Goddess Swaps for more info!

I want to thank my swap buddy at Cook's Reviews for the awesome (wow, how many times can I say this word in this post? Maybe I should have asked for a thesaurus!) swap! I love it all and can't wait to read them! Thank you!

The Digit-al Dozen Does It Again: Books

Day 10 of The Digit-al Dozen Does It Again. Today is Books. I was a bit stumped on this one. But then I came across my Literary Lacquers polish: Lake of Shinning Waters. This polish is from her Anne of Green Gables Collection. I knew then what I was going to do! I just love the books of Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery.

Here is my bases. I started off with two coats of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls and Zoya Shay. I did three coats (one extra coat for holo goodness!) of Literary Lacquers' Lake of Shinning Waters. Just look at it! Gorgeous!

I then created four scenes from the book/movie using polish (skin tones) and acrylic paints. On my index nail you have Green Gables in all it's glory. I just want to go Prince Edward Island to visit it!

On my middle finger I have Ann with an "e". This is when Gilbert Blythe calls her carrots and she breaks her chalkboard over his head in class! Oh Gilbert! :)

My ring finger is The Lake of Shinning Waters and when Anne re-enacts The Lady of Shalot, before her boats sinks and she is saved by Gilbert.

And finally, on my pinkie, we have Anne in "the depths of despair" and in her "graveyard of shattered hopes and dreams" when she tried to dye her hair only to have it turn green. Green hair! You can see her eyes shut tightly against the tragidy of it all!

I topped it all off with HK Girl Top Coat. I hope you enjoyed this mani as much as I do! Now I need to go watch the movies.....all of them! :)

The Digit-al Dozen Does Book Week - Books!

Final day of The Digit-al Dozen Does Book Week and I did a quick mani representing books in general. I love books. Love to read them. Love to collect them. Just love them. And yes, I silently judge you when I find out you don't like to read or like books -- sorry but I do! Books are my soul! Sorry, I'm a bad person for judging.

Uh, how perfect! Gotta through Doctor Who in here somehow right? :)

I used two coats of Dandy Nails Chilled Down. Uh! Why haven't I used this sooner! Oh my goodness! This polish is gorgeous and the formula is superb! Wow! I stamped the books using Konad Black Pearl and Vivid Lacquer VL 003 (one of the reasons I bought this plate!). I attempted to dry and ink pot and quill. (nope, that isn't a dart, I promise!). I mentioned the Doctor Who quote to my sister who then mentioned that I draw a quill and ink pot because the "pen is mightier than the sword!" :)

Just a gorgeous shot of Dandy Nails Chilled Down.

The Digit-al Dozen Does Book Week - Owly

Day 4 of The Digit-al Dozen Does Book Week and I am so extremely excited to show you this mani! This is Owly, and his little friend Wormy the worm by Andy Runton. This is my favorite Graphic Novel! I own them all (almost, new one isn't out yet!) and they are just so cute!

Here is Owly and Wormy before the top coat. I used OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls (a wonderful base for nail art) as my base. Owly and Wormy are created with craft paints and I wrote Owly using a Sharpie. I seriously cannot express my feelings on this mani. I really thought I would butcher this one. I actually squealed when I finished! I never wanted to take it off either! :)

Just look at all those books! Visit Andy Runton's website for more Owly things!

This is with HK Girl Top Coat. Just had to put in one more photo! :) I think this is my favorite mani of all time!

Look! An animated video! :)

Don't forget to check out the other ladies and their books for the day!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Book Week - Little Golden Books

Day 3 of The Digit-al Dozen Does Book Week. And today I have my childhood summed up in one mani: Little Golden Books. Do you remember those books? The gold flashy spines?

I loved these books growing up and thought I would try and recreate it using Barry M Gold Foil, Konad Black Pearl, and a Born Pretty plate M73. I loved how it turned out! I think it does it justice! :)

This was one of my favorite Little Golden Books!

Don't forget to check out the other ladies and their books of the day!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Book Week - Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus

Book Week continues for the Digit-al Dozen. You gotta love children's books! Today's mani is inspired by the book: Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus by Mo Willems.

I just love these books! They are so much fun! In this story you are told by the bus driver: "Don't let the pigeon drive the bus". Through out the story Pigeon begs and pleads and asks you to allow him to drive the bus. It's really cute and I love the illustrations.

I used China Glaze For Audrey for the bus on my first two fingers. I used OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls as the base of my ring finger. And then I mixed together OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls and  Nails Inc Hans Place to try a create the color of the book on my pinkie. I also used HK Girl Top Coat. For all the artwork of the bus and pigeon I used craft paints. I was actually pretty impressed with how this turned out! My seven-year-old nephew knew who it was right away when I showed him and he was shocked how I got it on my nail. Yep, that was praise enough!

Uh-oh the Pigeon is driving the bus!

Don't forget to check out the other ladies and their books for the day!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Book Week - Harold and the Purple Crayon

This week for The Digit-al Dozen, we have Book Week! I'm so excited for this week! It was so hard to narrow it down to just five books!

Today I bring you my favorite children's book ever. Harold and the Purple Crayon by Crockett Johnson. I love these books and own many in the series.

The main character in these stories is Harold, a four-year-old boy, who creates his own world from his imagination with his trusty purple crayon.

While Harold is on a walk he creates a path with trees and a moon.

That is what I tried to recreate for my mani. I used OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls (two coats) and some purple craft paint.

Here is a picture of my sister and I dressed as Harold and the Purple Crayon for Halloween back in 2008. She needed to dress up as a character as a book at her work place and since her favorite color is purple we thought it appropriate! And yes, I am wearing one-piece pajamas! :) (sorry for the big happy face in the back. Didn't want to post photos of other people's kids).

And just because it is a perfectly perfect mash-up! Dr Harold! You all need to go check out Karen Hallion's other work! I bought this sticker from her etsy shop. (Doctor Who, Star Wars, Firefly, Princess Bride, and so much more!)

Don't forget to check out the other ladies and their books for today!
