Untried Polish Challenge: Oldest

Untried Polish Challenge prompt for today is oldest...........crap! I have so many that are older that I haven't used! Double crap! How to narrow it down! Grrr! Well, off to my handy dandy massive Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Collection I go! When I first started getting into polish I was buying this pretty puppies up every time I went to the store! I have so many!

And you know what? I forgot how nice they are to use! I thank Emma of Manicurity in reminding me of the beauty that is Sally Hansen Mint Sorbet. This is two coats, though I could have just used one and been fine.

I then added Rainbow Polish Taffy, one of the older Indies that I have and haven't used! (See what I did there?) This glitter is sweet goodness (again, see what I did there?) Hahaha!

Here is a macro shot of Rainbow Polish Taffy over Sally Hansen Mint Sorbet. Please excuse the bubbles in my top coat. It was a hot day and I had my fan on when I applied HK Girl Top Coat. Totally my fault! But either way I love how the glitter is suspended in the top coat! :)

Untried Polish Challenge: Cool

Cool color for today's Untried Polish Challenge. And today it is a one color swatch. This is Essence Date in the Moonlight (two coats). And it is stunning! I couldn't put anything else over it, well except HK Girl Top Coat of course!

Usually I am not really into the goth-like dark nails, but I am loving this! I love the blue flash of the flakies! Gorgeous! And it applied like buttah! Oh and since it's Essence, it's cheap! I call this a win-win scenario! :)

My Favorite Things: June

It's the end of the month! Dang, seriously? I can't believe we are half way through the year already! With it being the end of the month, it's time for another My Favorite Things! :)

Favorite New (Tried) Polish: Essence Skyscraper.

I tried this for the Untried Polish Challenge: One Color and it is just gorgeous! Three coats because it is a bit sheer.

Favorite New (Untried) Polish: Hit Polish Nail Lacquer Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

I just bought this and I am super excited! Can't wait to try it! This photo is from Hit Polish Nail Lacquer's etsy shop. Currently she is having a sale, 20% off!

Favorite New (Tried) Indie Polish: Contrary Polish Sand

This favorite's list is like a list of neutrals! Hahaha! I used this polish for the first time for the Untried Polish Challenge: Neutral. Contrary Polish Sand is just stunning! Amazing!

Favorite New Collection: Truth be told I haven't been checking out the new collections. I mean that's great for my wallet but I feel so out of the loop!

Favorite Manicure of the Month: Owly!

This mani was one that actually surprised me. I planned it all out in my head and was pleasantly surprised that it actually came out exactly how I imagined! This mani was for The Digit-al Dozen Does Book Week: Owly.

Favorite New Technique or Tip: I really tried to outline my nail art this month and I love how it completes the look!

This mani was from The Digit-al Dozen Does Book Week: Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus. See how outlining completes it? :)

Favorite New Makeup Item: I haven't really bought makeup this month! GASP! Looks like I need to though huh! :)

Favorite TV Show: Ugh with all the seasons ending! Boo! But there are a few new ones coming out soon that look interesting: Under the Dome and Crossing Lines. But I am loving to watch MasterChef and So You Think You Can Dance.

Currently Reading: Inferno by Dan Brown. I love his books! I am an avid art history fan, especially the Italian Renaissance. So his Robert Langdon books are fabulous! Have you read this book yet?

What about you? What have been your favorite things this month?

Untried Polish Challenge: Warm

Another day of the Untried Polish Challenge. Today is a warm polish. Well, I chose 4 warm polishes! Woot! :) I actually really love how this warm skittle turned out!

I used three coats of each polish: (l-r) OPI Pink Friday (OPI Nicki Minaj Collection),OPI A-Rose From the Dead and OPI Hi Pumpkin (from the OPI So So Skullicious mini collection), and L'Oreal Tweet Me (clearance from Ulta!). As you can see, Tweet Me is still pretty sheer, but I am loving the flakies! :)

My nails are really nubbins right now, they just keep breaking, not loving the summer heat! :(

So I decided to add some flowers to the skittle! I got these flower stickers from a giveaway that I won! I used HK Girl Top Coat to seal them on!

Untried Polish Challenge: Neutral

Day 4 of the Untried Polish Challenge: Neutral, and have I got a stunner for you! And since it is also Friday = TGIF: Thank Goodness, Indy Indie Friday, it is an Indie Polish! This my lovely Owlets is Contrary Polish: Sand. Oh my goodness is this one of my favorite polishes now!

This polish is so incredibly gorgeous! I looks just like wet sand! This is two coats of Sand and one coat of HK Girl Top Coat.

Sand applied like a dream! The formula is like buttah, like buttah! Sand is part of Contrary Polish's Aint' That A Beach Trio (Summer 2013).

And look at the gold shimmer! A taupey-mud polish with micro black glitter and gold shimmer! Epic win!

You can buy Contrary Polish:

Untried Polish Challenge: Three Colors

Day 3 of the Untried Polish Challenge and I chose to do a gradient nail accent! See! It's more than just a plain swatch! :)

Here is my mani without a top coat. I used 3 out of the 4 colors in the China Glaze Ombre kit: Wait Teal You See. (the fourth color has already been used, so therefore is not untried!). The three polishes I used were: Turned Up Turquoise, Aquadelic, and White on White.

Can I just say I love the satin finish of Turned Up Turquoise!

I painted two coats of each, with one coat of White on White for my accent nail base color. I then used the sponge in the kit to create the gradient on my accent nail. I am use to using a makeup sponge for this so China Glaze's porous one was interesting, I like the "texture" it creates!

I then added some HK Girl Top Coat! I loved how it turned out. I really loved the shimmer in Turned Up Turquoise!

See! Gorgeous shimmer!

Mani from the Vault: Tape Mani featuring Hit Polish Soldier Boy

OK, Owlets, I goofed! Today's post was suppose to be Untried Polish Challenge: Two Colors. But I accidentally scheduled it yesterday! So you got two posts yesterday! That is a rarity for me! If you missed yesterday's Untried Polish Challenge: Two Colors, click the link to go and see!

But today I have a mani I did last month that I haven't posted yet! So here we go!

This was a quick mani that I did trying to play around with some striping tape.

My base for each nails is China Glaze Agro (from the Hunger Games Collection). I love this shimmery olive color! I think I have like 5 different polishes like it. I think I need to do a dupe post on them.

This mani kind of matches my blog background! Hahaha! :)

I then used OPI What Wizardry Is This over my striping tape. I love working with the textures and matte finish polishes for striping manis. If I were to redo this mani I would make the tape lines thicker, they kind of get lost being as thin as they are.

And finally I used two coats of Hit Polish Soldier Boy an amazing blend of brown and green glitters! My two favorite colors! And it applied wonderfully! I topped my accent nail with HK Girl Top Coat which I get from Glisten & Glow!

Hope you liked a mani from the vault! I almost never have any on backup so I'm glad for this mishap I did! :)

Untried Polish Challenge: Two Colors

Day 2 of the Untried Polish Challenge. And today is two colors. How to narrow it down to just two colors! It was so hard to do! So many untried polishes--too little time! Oh the problems of a polish-aholic!

So I finally decided to use Catrice Grey's Kelly and Essence Oh My Glitter. Can I just say that I love both of these brands! Why oh why can't Catrice be found in the US? (Pssst...Ninja Polish carries them now!) And why can't we get more Essence polishes! (Pssst....Ninja Polish carries some too!). Ok, enough crying. I do have some wonderful polish pals that feed my hunger for these polishes when I get the craving (uh-oh feeling a craving coming on!).

I used two coats of each polish. And they both applied like the wonderful dream that they are! Catrice Grey's Kelly is like a creamy chocolate milk that is heaven! And Essence Oh My Glitter shimmers with flakies to the eye's delight! (Sorry as I wax poetic there!)

And then I did this. Not the best but I was at a loss for what to do. Oh and excuse the little nubbin there on the ring finger.....grrrr!

Untried Polish Challenge: One Color

So I decided to try the Untried Polish Challenge created by Just Add Polish. It's a fun way to force myself to get through the hoard that is my untried pile. I would say that more than 1/4 of my stash is untried! >_<

So here is Essence Skyscraper. I had help tracking this down through a blog sale (thank you TraceFacePhiles for having these!). I actually got the whole collection! Non of which I had tried yet. Oops! But this one is gorgeous!

I love these types of polishes, the putty/taupe colors! But this has a hidden surprise to it!

Blue shimmer! Ah-yeah! Gorgeous! I used three coats because it is a bit sheer. I left it pure as a one color swatch because I couldn't cover up this polish, too pretty!

Oh and guess what? Happy 500th post! :)

The Digit-al Dozen Does Book Week - Books!

Final day of The Digit-al Dozen Does Book Week and I did a quick mani representing books in general. I love books. Love to read them. Love to collect them. Just love them. And yes, I silently judge you when I find out you don't like to read or like books -- sorry but I do! Books are my soul! Sorry, I'm a bad person for judging.

Uh, how perfect! Gotta through Doctor Who in here somehow right? :)

I used two coats of Dandy Nails Chilled Down. Uh! Why haven't I used this sooner! Oh my goodness! This polish is gorgeous and the formula is superb! Wow! I stamped the books using Konad Black Pearl and Vivid Lacquer VL 003 (one of the reasons I bought this plate!). I attempted to dry and ink pot and quill. (nope, that isn't a dart, I promise!). I mentioned the Doctor Who quote to my sister who then mentioned that I draw a quill and ink pot because the "pen is mightier than the sword!" :)

Just a gorgeous shot of Dandy Nails Chilled Down.

The Digit-al Dozen Does Book Week - Owly

Day 4 of The Digit-al Dozen Does Book Week and I am so extremely excited to show you this mani! This is Owly, and his little friend Wormy the worm by Andy Runton. This is my favorite Graphic Novel! I own them all (almost, new one isn't out yet!) and they are just so cute!

Here is Owly and Wormy before the top coat. I used OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls (a wonderful base for nail art) as my base. Owly and Wormy are created with craft paints and I wrote Owly using a Sharpie. I seriously cannot express my feelings on this mani. I really thought I would butcher this one. I actually squealed when I finished! I never wanted to take it off either! :)

Just look at all those books! Visit Andy Runton's website for more Owly things!

This is with HK Girl Top Coat. Just had to put in one more photo! :) I think this is my favorite mani of all time!

Look! An animated video! :)
