40 Great Nail Art Ideas: Halloween

"I got you where I want you, and now I'm going to eat you!"

Welcome to another installment of 40 Great Nail Art Ideas! Today's prompt is Halloween. I wanted to do something easy but that I hadn't seen before. Well, I think this worked. ;)

It's based on a scary story/joke I heard often as a kid:

I'm Gonna Eat You

(click title to go to source)
There were these 3 guys. They had to find a place to stay so they went to a hotel.
The first guy went up to the counter and asked the clerk if he had any rooms for the night. The clerk said we only have one room and its the attic. I'll give you a gun, a knife, or a flash light. The first guy said,"I'll take the gun." The clerk said ok and gave him the key to the attic.
The guy went up to the attic, and he heard a voice, "I've go you wher I want you now. I'm gonna eat you!" The guy got so scared that he shot himself.
The second guy went up to the clerk and said, "Do you have any rooms for the night?" The clerk said, "I only have the attic and I can give you a knife or a flashlight." The man said, "I'll take he knife." The clerk gave him the knife and the key to the attic. The man walked up to the attic, and heard a voice, "I've go you wher I want you now. I'm gonna eat you!" The man got so scared that he stabbed himself.
The third guy went to the clrk and asked if there were any rooms. The clerk said only the attic. The clerk gave the guy a flashlight. The man went up to the attic and heard a voice, "I've go you wher I want you now. I'm gonna eat you!" The man turned the flashlight on and opened the closet door and saw this little boy sitting there picking his nose, eating his boogers, and saying, "I've got you where I want you now. I'm gonna eat you!"

Muwahahahahahaha! Yep, I really did create a booger for my blog! And by create I don't mean by my body, because I promise you it's totally fake!

See! Just a little bit of hair glue, some Color Club Tribe and True, BarryM Paprika, BarryM Cotton, and Poshe Top Coat.

Voila! Booger!

Enjoy!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Re-Creations Week: Grey and Yellow Floral by Pointless Cafe

Day 4 of The Digit-al Dozen Does Re-Creations Week and today I have some actual free-hand nail art! For the win! I feel in love with the original version of this mani because of the colors and the simple yet complex overall idea. Who's mani is it?

Sheila from Pointless Cafe! She is so super creative and artistic in her manis and life. Oh and I totally want her amazing closet! :)

I used China Glaze Concrete Catwalk and acrylic paint for the yellow and black with Poshe Top Coat. Her dots are more nicely random (I can't do random dots, they always end up in rows, and then I fix them and then they are all crowded - nail polish problems). But I do absolutely love my first flower on my middle finger! I love the painterly quality to it! I channeled my inner Sheila for that! My second flower I made it to look like those thin nail art flowers that you can buy to glue on to manis. I wanted a bit of texture so I kept adding paint before it dried fully. I don't know, it was fun that's all! :)

I really love these colors together, really brightens the day! I love having Sheila in the group, she's a real hoot! She's all about the coffee! I love seeing her painting skills come to life on her canvases (nails and real canvases).

Thank you Sheila for your contribution to our DD family!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Re-Creations Week: Dotting Week - My Dots by A Girl and Her Polish

Day 2 of The Digit-al Dozen Does Re-Creations (a celebration for our 3 year anniversary!). Today is probably a given on the mani I am re-creating (besides the obvious title, derp).

Katee from A Girl and Her Polish as been an inspiration since I first laid eyes on her famous dotticure. I "met" her through that dotticure as people were trying to steal it and put their names on it. A few of us commented on her blog post and told her what was happening. It was the start of a beautiful friendship. :) Katee references this dotticure in the DD post Dotting Week - My Dots that I chose to re-create.

I used all BarryM polishes (but of course I would, this is a Katee mani!). I used BarryM Lychee as my base with Sky Blue, Blueberry, and Chai for the dots. I topped it off with Poshe Top Coat.

I tried to totally re-create the design, but I realized I needed to use smaller dots. But I still love it a ton! And I will always love (insert music here) Katee's dots! (and her amazing layered stamping abilities).

Thank you Katee for your contribution to our DD family! (and for my obsession with BarryM Gelly and Matte polishes!)

The Digit-al Dozen Does Re-Creations Week: The Emperor's New Clothes by The Dalai Lama's Nails

Welcome to a full week of The Digit-al Dozen! Yes you heard me right! All five days have already been completed and are set to post! Yay me! Don't know what I did different but I do know that when I created these manis for this week my anxiety levels actually dropped a bit (well, except for a bit of stamping issues). And I think this is one of my better DD weeks ever, granted they aren't my own designs, but I feel I did all the ladies I chose justice. I hope you enjoy!

First, a note about this week:

This week we are re-creating each other's manis from different Digit-al Dozen themes. We are doing this in honor of The Digit-al Dozen turning 3! (Crazy huh!) Although we've had some changes in faces and nails, we are still passionate about what we do and what we stand for. We love nail art and the nail art community! We love the family that we have found in each other and the friendships that will last a lifetime.

These past three years the ladies of The Digit-al Dozen have been my all. They have supported me when I had no one else to turn to. They have lifted me from my darkest of darks. They have shown me how to see the greatness that is within me. They have laughed and cried with me. All these ladies are technically strangers to me, as in I have never met any of them (ok, I have met Ashley from Ashley is Polish Addicted), but I do not consider them strangers at all. They have played such an important part in my life and I am a better person because of all the ladies (past, present, and future) of The Digit-al Dozen! I love you all! XOXO Mwuah!

Welcome to The Digit-al Dozen does Re-Creations Week! This week we are re-creating manis by other DD ladies. Today I have chosen this mani because I had wanted to do something similar to this during our Fairy Tales Week, but wasn't exactly sure on how to go about it.

But Hannah over at The Dalai Lama's Nails (click to see the original amazing version!) created such a fabulously perfect mani for The Emperor's New Clothes that I had to re-create it! So simple and yet it totally captures the story, in a PG sort of way. :)

I used OPI Unfor-Greta-Bly Blue, BarryM Foil Effects Gold, and OPI Dutch 'Ya Just Love OPI all topped with Poshe Top Coat.

I really loved how elegant this turned out. Sometimes it's nice to have a nice clean traditional-ish french tip mani.

Thank you Hannah for your contribution to our DD family!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Fairytales: Rumplestilskin

Day two of The Digit-al Dozen Does Fairytales and today I have Rumplestilskin. This is the story about the little imp who can spin straw into gold. (see what I did there?)

Still in nubbin-land and used Color Club Tribe and True (two coats) as my base. I chose this color because Rumplestilskin on Once Upon a Time has a bit of a green tinge to his face. I think used gold striping tape and bristles that I cut off a brush. I used Poshe Top Coat to hold the "straw" in place.

Not very detailed, in my mind it was totally more detailed. :) But I still like the outcome!

As this year ends I am glad to see it go. This year has been a real strange one with some ups and major downs. Here's to hoping 2015 is a better year for us all!

This is Day 4 of The Nail Challenge Collaborative Does Dots and I have for you some New Year's Confetti!

I really love how this mani turned out! Finally a waterfall mani that worked! Win! I used OPI My Vampire is Buff as my base and BarryM Foil Effects Silver and Avon Luxe Life for the confetti all topped with Poshe Top Coat.
Also today is my three year blogiversary! Three years, wow, seems longer than that! I'm so grateful for all of you, my Owlets! I have made so many friends in the polish community! I am grateful for all the support shown to me through the years! It's because of you that I still enjoy the ride! I'm hoping 2015 will be a better year for Geeky Owl. The Nail Challenge Collaborative Does Dots: Abstract Frosty

Day three of dots for The Nail Art Collaborative and I bring you an Abstract Frosty the Snowman! The dots are, of course, the black glitter! :)

I used OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls as my base and Pop Culture Polish Formerly Frosty for my last two nails (trying to get only that many black glitters and one orange was a bit tough!). I used nail stickers by Fing'rs and Poshe Top Coat.

Don't forget to check out the other Day 3 Dot manis!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Winter Wonderland: An Attempt (err fail) of Vintage "Ornaments"

Keep walking, nothing to see here, nothing at all...........
Today is the final day of The Digit-al Dozen Does Winter Wonderland and I bring you my wonderland fail! These, these are suppose to be ornaments. >_< I was inspired by this photo. (See? Can't you totally tell!? Pfft!) I really love the look of that photo so I wanted to re-create it using more vintage deeper colors. Ah......nope. I need a smaller brush and bigger nail beds and longer nails. Oh and freehand artistic ability! Hahahahahaha! :)

So here's my epic fail of this week and the polishes that joined with me (I'm sorry polishes! I'll try and be nicer next time!): BarryM Lychee (two coats base), BarryM Caramel (dark lines), BarryM Chai, Mustard, Watermelon, and Crush ("ornaments"). Orly Mirrorball (an attempt to make glittery "ornaments"). Essie Shine of the Times (to fill in the empty space. Haven't used this polishes in ages!), and Poshe to top coat this work of "art".

Please go check out the other ladies and their actual works of art for the final day of Winter Wonderland!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Winter Wonderland: Holiday Stripes or Daleks?

Another day of The Digit-al Dozen Does Winter Wonderland and today I have a tape mani in holiday colors or are they holiday Daleks? Hmmmmm.......

I was inspired to create these when I saw Bad Girl Nails do these in blue. I think they are perfect for the holidays!

I used Orly Mirrorball as my base (two colors). How amazing is this polish! I then used China Glaze Red-Y & Willing and Models Own Golden Green. I used Poshe to help hold the rhinestones in place!

The Nail Challenge Collaborative Presents: Stripes - Owl Stripes

Day 3 of The Nail Challenge Collaborative's theme of stripes and combining it with the Digit-al Dozen's Spooky Days.

Not sure exactly what I was going for here! Hahahaha! But look! It's got stripes and an owl....what could go wrong? Oh, how about stamping stripes on all the other nails. Nu-uh, nope. So I had to free-hand the other stripes.

I used BarryM Mango as my base. I stamped on my ring finger using BarryM Plum and MoYou Pro 04. On my other nails I used BarryM Plum to create stripes (yep, that is the same color used to stamp!) and Konad Black with MoYou Pro 04 for the scroll-work. Topped it off with Poshe Top Coat.

The Nail Challenge Collaborative Presents: Geomoetric - Dotticure

Day 2 of The Nail Challenge Collaborative's theme of Geometric and I bring you dots around dots around dots! Or, a dotticure.

Please excuse the nubbins (this is a slightly older photo from earlier in the month). Sometimes it's really hard to wrap the tips of nubbins. Grrrr! :) So um yeah, since this is an older photo I *think* I have Essence Romeo on under Essence Bella. Otherwise I don't know why I'm holding this bottle of Romeo!? >_<

I used Essence Bella as my base. The dots are Butter London: Cream Tea (white er cream), Jaded Jack (darker green), and Wellies (light green). I sealed it with Poshe Top Coat and called it a day. They actually lasted quite a long time. The only good thing about nubs, no real free edge to chip -- though you can really damage a mani try to use your nails nubs to open things!

Today's Terrific Two prompt is China Pattern because the traditional gift for a 2nd anniversary is to a receive China set.

I used OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls (two coats) as my base. I stamped using Color Club Harp on It and Bundle Monster BM-017 and then swiped a quick holo french using Harp on It. All sealed with Poshe Top Coat.

The Digit-al Dozen Does The Terrific Twos - Sapphire

Today's Terrific Two prompt is Sapphire, the birthstone for September. I decided to make a sapphire setting for a ring. Kind of ended up looking like the Heart of the Ocean (near, far, where ever you are.......).

Used two coats of Zoya Farah for my base. I dolloped a little OPI Unfor-Gretta-Bly Blue for my sapphire. I sealed it all with Poshe Top Coat. I then placed some rhinestones around it to complete the setting.

The Digit-al Dozen Does the Terrific Twos - Things That Come in Pairs

Welcome to another month and that means another theme for The Digit-al Dozen! This month we are celebrating two years! Crazy huh! So our topic this month is dealing with things associated with the number two!

And today is: Things that Come in Pairs. So what did I choose? A mad man and a box!

I know, it's not the normal "pair" of things you would think but I just had to do it! :)

I used Cult Nails Time Traveler (two coats) and Milani White on the Spot (two coats) as my base colors. I stamped using Cult Nails Time Traveler and My Online Shop's MJ JR-31. I of course had to use China Glaze Fairy Dust (not sure why this sudden hype for Fairy Dust. Are people just finding it? I've had mine for years, it's my go-to holo glitter). Sealed everything with Poshe Top Coat.

But let me tell you, this mani took FOREVER to create! Looks simple right? Bah! My stamper did not want to work on this day. It took hours to get a decent image. And I'm not lying, I would attempt for a while and then sit out (else I would have thrown it all at the wall) and try again. Grrrr! But I do like how it turned out. Now if I can only figure out why my stamper/plate/polish was on strike that day. >_<

I know I've been MIA for the past month. Going through a really tough time right now. Many times almost calling it quits on everything. Just need to get through this next month (every year this is the worst month for me because of my seasonal affective disorder; and now I have to deal with the anxiety too. *joy*). I hope to keep on keeping on but we shall see. I was able to get this whole week done for the DD. I also have a review post and a guest post in the works. :)

Don't forget to enter our fantabulously amazing 2nd Anniversary Giveaway! 51 prizes!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Summer: Raindrops

Day five of The Digit-al Dozen Does Summer and today I have the rain that comes (hopefully) after a Haboob.

I used OPI Here Today.....Aragon Tomorrow Suede as my base (two coats). I then used Sally Hansen Emerald City to create veins on my leaf. I then put on a thin coat of Wet n Wild Matte Top Coat (the veins almost disappeared). I then used a dotting tool and Poshe to create the raindrops.

Not exactly how I pictured it turning out, but it'll do. :)

Phew! I made through Summer! Now if only the Arizona summer would end, I'm hating 110F plus days! Grrrr!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Summer: Haboob!

Day four of The Digit-al Dozen Does Summer and I bring you a Haboob! A hab-what? A Haboob is an intense dust storm. And let me tell you, I hate them!

First, let me tell you how my pretty Haboob was formed. I used China Glaze Electric Beat for my sky and China Glaze Starboard for my grass (which I dabbed on). I then stamped using MoYou Sailor 03 for the different swirls of dust. I wanted to show the Haboob from thick dust to lighter dust. I stamped using Konad Brown and Color Club Cherubic. I sealed it with Poshe top coat. Pretty right?

But a Haboob isn't pretty and shiny. So I used Essie Matte About You to make it dusty.

I really hate Haboobs. They are one of my triggers for anxiety. Below I have posted a few videos, they are a bit long, but if you've never seen one then you should watch. Because even though I hate them, they are awesome (and not the totally awesome kind of awesome, but the awe-inspiring, frightening awesome) to watch.

I did not film these and I don't advise holding your phone/camera while driving in these (or at all!). You are to pull over off the road a ways and come to a stop, turn off your lights, and take your foot off the brakes (this way no one follows you and crashes into you). I don't like these.

Don't forget to check out what the other ladies are doing for summer!
