Urban Decay - Revolution Lipstick Swatches

clockwise starting at the top: Rapture, Sheer Shame, and Manic

Today is a new month and I am embarking on a new adventure...hopefully. I am going to transition this blog to more of a beauty and whatnot blog, so not so much polish based. So it's not that much of a change but it opens up more ideas and ease for me...hopefully. We shall see how this turns out.

Today I have three different Urban Decay Lipsticks, two are Revolution lipsticks and one is a Sheer Revolution Lipstick. Why am I showing you these? Not only are these new to me, they are on sale!

$11 each. Yep, regularly $22 on sale for $11 (I got mine for a bit less because of my Ulta employee discount).

l-r: Sheer Shame, Manic, and Rapture

Here are swatches of the three different colors. You can really tell the difference between the Sheer formula and the original Revolution formula.

Urban Decay Sheer Revolution Lipstick in Sheer Shame

Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Manic

Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Rapture

Urban Decay is one of my favorite brands and their lipsticks are fabulous! The Sheer Revolution Lipsticks are really nice and hydrating. The original Revolution Lipsticks are very creamy and wear wonderfully!

A note: Rapture is my go-to lipstick to sell at work when women are looking for a nice your-lips-but-better color.

What are your go to Urban Decay lip products? Have you bought any of these on sale yet?

Urban Decay Lipsticks (Revolution, Matte, and Sheer) are on sale for $11 at Ulta, Sephora, Macy's, and Urban Decay.

40 Great Nail Art Ideas - Hobbies

Hello Owlets! I have a new adventure to share with you, a rather grand adventure! It's a new nail art challenge from Crumpet's Nail Tarts called 40 Great Nail Art Ideas.

It's a fabulous new challenge with prompts for each week, we post on Fridays, with a huge link up! So many fabulous ideas to be inspired by!

Today's prompt is hobbies! Besides nail art and polish my other (ok, one of my many other) hobby is makeup. I love it, I work with it, I buy, I hoard collect it! My job is being a Prestige Manager at Ulta I get to play with makeup all day helping others find products and color matching them so they get the right items. I get to go to classes with the brands and learn about their products!
I get to help change a life when I am able to cover and conceal imperfections that they do not like. To hear them gasp and see their face when they look into the mirror and love what they see.  To see a guest leave with their head held high warms my heart!

One of my favorite brands is Urban Decay. This is most of my Urban Decay makeup, what's missing is the palette I created from depotting other shadow palettes (and it's full!). My goal is to own every single eyeliner they make as well as the Moondust shadows (they are the light silver circle shadows that you can see in the photo). I am way pumped to see what Urban Decay and Gwen Stefani have created! Can't wait to see that line!

So I decided to create a mani that is inspired by the Vice 4 Palette, specifically the bag it comes with.

I used Color Club Harp on It as my base. Needed the silver holo to match the holo lines on the bag! I stamped using Konad Black and Pet'la Geomatrix, the image was perfect for it! I used HK Girl topcoat to make it shine!

I really loved how this turned out! Sorry for some tip wear, really hard to wrap tips with nubs! >_<

If you want to follow us, you can find our Pinterest Board here - all the members will also be sharing the collages on IG and Facebook with the above hashtags. I hope you enjoy and find it as useful as we're finding it fun!

And don't forget to check out the other hobbies that we all love!

Benefit They're Real Push Up Liner Review

Ok, so I decided to do a review of Benefit's They're Real Push Up Liner. I've seen many different bloggers post their reviews and I keep seeing a lot of negative things about this amazing product. So I thought I would put in my two cents worth.

This is my first makeup review and my first attempts at photographing my eye. I don't know how you beauty bloggers do it so well! I applaud you! :)

This review reflects my opinion of this product based on what I have been taught and what I have figured out on my own. I was giving this product at my work. I was not asked to do a review, I just wanted to shine a brighter light on this product! :)

**Picture Heavy**

Alright, so I've had my liner about a few weeks before they officially launched in stores. I work at Ulta and was given it early to play with it and learn to use it. The week of their launch in stores I got to attend a training class on this liner put on by Benefit. (Can I say I love my job!)

So the tip of the liner is rubber (no latex!) and very flexible, able to bend to get in and hug your lashes.

When you first get your liner it has a little orange plug in it. There are many different schools of thought with this little plug. Benefit says toss it. Other bloggers say to keep and put it back on after you are done so it doesn't dry out. At first I would replace it, and it would just be a big mess each time, gel covering the plug and gel all over my hands. After my Benefit class I tossed it, they said it won't dry out. (But you can choose to do whatever you want to do.)

When I go to use the liner I give it a few twists to allow the gel to move up to the opening. You can see the gel coming out in the photo. When you first use the liner it takes quite a few twists to get your liner to start. I thought my was defective at first! Hahahahaha!

Now, this is how I prep my liner for use. After twisting it up in the previous photo I then wipe that excess off on a tissue to spread the gel evenly through the opening of the rubber tip. You don't have to do this, it's just something of a habit that I have picked up.

I then give it a tiny twist and it's ready to go! With each twist you are bringing up new product each time! This amount that you see can do one full eye if not both. Excuse the little fuzz on the tip; it being rubber, fuzzies are kind of it's best friend. :)

Eeks! My eye! Didn't realize how many wrinkles I have! Hahahaha! The first step that I do on each eye is to "stamp" my wing. I line up the liner from my nostril to the corner of my eye press the tip on my skin and gently pull down. After doing this on one eye I go and repeat this process on the other eye. I've learned that doing it that way makes for a more even wings.

For my shadow I have on Urban Decay Skimp and Too Faced Marzipan from the Chocolate Bar Palette. I've also added a bit of Champagne Truffle in the crease, also from the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette.

Sorry, this is a bit blurry. My next step is to line my lash line. This is a "rough draft" line. It isn't straight and perfect but it is the base on which I create my eye. Ok, now this is where I would have issues. My liner use to keep skipping, leaving huge blanks spots, or it would look like the liner tip would be picking up the liner like a spatula and cake batter. I asked this at my Benefit class. I was told, I needed to use more product. Since receiving that info, no more skips! Yay!

This is how it looks with my eye open, a simple black line. I could keep it like this but I never do! Hahaha! Seriously? I don't think I've ever really realized the hood or wrinkle in my crease. Or maybe it's denial? Hahahaha!

The next step that I do is to take the tip of the liner and go to the edge of the wing and draw a line to the middle of inner corner of my depending on the look I am going for. This is where you may need to twist up more product so that you don't have skips or bald spots. Sometimes you will get clumps of gel on you lids, and this is the cause of many complaints wit this products because it causes the fall out. You can do two things with these clumps. You can either push those clumps into your lashes (these clumps are still useable, they are not dried yet!) or you can pick them up and off you lid using the tip of the liner. If you leave the clumps, then you will have fall out.

Here's how it looks with my eye open. Not too bad huh! I love it! I have never been able to do this type of look with liquid or felt or pencils. I love this liner! It is rare that I am not wearing it now!

When I am finished with the liner I bend and wipe the liner on the tissues to remove and excess of the gel in the tip.

This is my favorite thing to do with this liner......add glitter! Sparkly! This is Urban Decay's Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner in Spandex with It Cosmetics Hello Lashes Mascara.

Still with Urban Decay Spandex. I love this look! Let's check out some more versions! :)

Here it is using Urban Decay's Glitter Eyeliner in Stagedive. I call this my mermaid color. :) On my lids I have Urban Decay Skimp and Snatch with Urban Decay's Moondust eyeshadow in Space Cowboy for added shimmer! Used It Cosmetics Hello Lashes Mascara.

And open!

Using Urban Decay's Heavy Metal Eyeliner in Catfight. Again I used: Urban Decay Skimp and Snatch with Urban Decay's Moondust eyeshadow in Space Cowboy for added shimmer! With It Cosmetics Hello Lashes Mascara.

Sorry about the lighting change. :) But here it is with my eyes open.

So what do you think? Have you tried this liner? Do you love or hate it? I love this liner and have had no issues. I know that it takes a bit of practising if you are use to liquid liners. And if you have ever done calligraphy, think of holding the liner like that. Try practising drawing lines on the back of your hand so that you can get a feel for how it works!

Let me know what you thought about this type of post, if you'd like to see more like this or not. :)

Lust List vol. 1

I have been loving all the cravings, lemmings, or lust lists that many bloggers have been posting. So I decided to team up with Emma over at Manicurity and do my own Lust List!

My Lust List isn't just nail polish.....it's so much more! :)

Starting at the top:

1. Urban Decay Vice Palette. Yes! So many good reasons to want/need this. I love Urban Decay's formula. And a plus is that I have allergies to some make up and not with Urban Decay! Woot! The colors in this palette are gorgeous! Check out Scrangie and her review of it.

2. This has two polishes in the picture. This is Catrice Steel My Heart and Steel My Soul polishes. These two are a "brushed metal effect" so they dry matte! I so wish that we could get Catrice polish here in the US. I love their colors and formula! Probably one of my favorite brands. But these two colors are new(er). I first fell in love with them when I saw them on Oooh, Shinies! The picture I used comes from Beauty Before Breakfast.

3. Oh? What are these lovely beautiful yummy looking things? These are Marshmallow Bits from Nuts.com And yes, they are exactly what they sound and look like. A whole bag of marshmallows like the ones in Lucky Charms! Yes please! I need these! :)

4. This is the CD that I am lusting after. It is the Civil Wars Barton Hallow. I have been listening to them on Spotify and I love them! Such a unique sound! I love groups that sound a bit different and aren't too cookie-cutter. I think I will be getting this album on payday! :)

5. Dollish Polish Legend of Zelda Duo. Oh my geeky goodness! I need these in my life. These have been on my wishlist for a while now. If I don't get them in my Christmas swap next month I am buying them myself! :) Hahaha! The two polishes are: "The Hero Of Time: Mimicking brave Links clothing, this is a clear jelly loaded with varying shades of green, brown and gold can be layered over any shade as a top coat, or can be build-able to be completely opaque. Wear this and be ready to take on an enemy of Hyrule! And the other polish is: Hylian Princess: Princess Zelda portrays both an air of regal elegance, and inner strength and intelligence and her clothing is a good representation of that. White flowing gown with accents of varying purples and a crown of gold, this polish imitates the same regal appearance and can also be worn as a top coat, or built into a stand alone opaque shade."

6.  Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner. Ok, I already have like 5 of these. But a few are drying out (had them for a while). So I need to get back ups and all the other colors! I love these eyeliners because I suck and using eyeliner and you can't mess up with these because it's glitter! And I love the extra pop of glitter it adds and I always get compliments when I wear them! :)

7. Duri Rejuvacote. This is another one that if I don't get this in my swap I am so getting. I have heard so many good things about this treatment. And I need it. My nails are becoming junk right now with the weather changing and all.

So anything you have been lusting after lately?
