The Digit-al Dozen Does Fandom: Still Flyin'


Day 3 of The Digit-al Dozen Does Fandom Week and I give you one of the best fandoms ever! I am and forever will be a Browncoat! Still flyin'!

A Browncoat is a fan of the TV Show Firefly (created by Joss Whedon) and it's movie (brought about because of it's fandom) Serenity. This short-lived (at least on TV, thanks FOX) show is about some pretty amazing space cowboys.

I started off with OPI My Vampire is Buff on each of my nails (oh please of please someone see what I did there! Hahahaha!). I used Essie Matte about you as my topcoat. On my index I used MdU Light Gray to stamp some metal panels using Bundle Monster BM-609. The Serenity (the ship) is stamped in Konad Black using My Online Shop MJ Jr-31. This nail represents part of the first scene in the movie Serenity:


My middle finger is stamped with dinosaurs from Bundle Monster BM-611 using BarryM Vanilla and a leaf from Winstonia W113 and MdU Ochre. This nail represents our beloved pilot Wash. I will only show you one image, the dinosaur scene, because the leaf reference is too sad.


My ring finger represents River (also, she can kill you with her mind). I sponged BarryM Chai for the base and stamped using Konad Black and filled in the hands with BarryM Blueberry. "two by two, hands of Blue" is a phrase in the TV series that River quotes. It refers to men who are after River and her brother. These men have some really advance technology that can make you bleed from every orifice. *joy*


And finally my pinkie can have two different meanings. I sponged a ton of different polishes (BarryM Chilli, Mango, Cocoa) and stamped using Konad Black and MdU Papyrus and MoYou London Suki 04 (the writing). I wanted to this to represent the colors of Serenity with the script on it as Mandarin is commonly used in the series. But the script doesn't show up that well and so can also be taken as Jayne's (because they are also his colors, especially wearing his hat) quote: "She is startin' to damage my calm". Because my sponging looks chaotic.

The Digit-al Dozen Does Thankfulness: Freedom


Day 2 and I am thankful for my freedom. It seems fitting to post about this on November 11, Veterans Day in the US (Remembrance Day in Canada and England and Armistice Day in France and New Zealand) (among other countries as well). It is a day we remember those who have fought for our freedom. It is also the day in which the"major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, when the Armistice with Germany went into effect" (source).

I am thankful for the freedoms I have; the freedom of religion, speech, agency and the power to choose. I am thankful for all the men and women who have fought to protect this freedom all over the world. I'm thankful for those who have given the greatest sacrifice for their country. It is by these noble men and women that we are free. 

I am thankful for the founding fathers of America and all that they stood for in order that we may have certain unalienable Rights.

I used Milani White on the Spot as my base. I stamped on my first two fingers using BarryM Blackberry and Winstonia W107. The quill and ink well (yes, that's what it is, it's not a boat!) is stamped using Konad Black and Vivid Lacquer VL018. I stamped using BarryM Blood Orange and Winstonia W107 for the other two nails. I used OPI My Pointe Exactly to age and and blur the images a bit. I then used Zoya Matte Velvet Top Coat to smooth it all out. It's not perfect, but either is our country. But I am glad and thankful to be a part of it.

Review: JORD Wood Watch


Today I have a slightly different type of review for you today. I was contacted by JORD to review one of their watches. Funny thing is, I was actually looking for a new watch the day before. I said I would love to and went and looked at their site. On their site they have live chat help and I had a fabulous experience with one of their watch specialists named Justine. She was able to help me to decide which color to go with. I wear a lot of black for my job and wanted something that would look really nice and there are many beautiful watches to choose from for both men and women!


This is the beautiful watch that I chose with Justine's help. This is Ely Maple. And it is one of the most beautiful timepieces that I have ever seen!


The watch came in a sturdy box with a cushion. The watch itself is super light! I was really surprised at this! I mean, I knew it wasn't going to be heavy but was not expecting how light it is! And the faceplate is the perfect size for my wrist!


This is more true to life color. I took this with my iPhone. What I love about this watch (among many things) is that the back of the watch isn't metal! That means many people who have allergies to metal watches will love this! The clasp has only a small bit of metal (I still have the blue film on it, I don't want to wreck it!) (the blue film is like the ones you find on stamping plates.)


I was asked if I could create a mani inspired by the watch. I decided to create a winter-like forest by following ChristabellNails' Grey Tree Nails Tutorial. I am really happy with how it turned out. It's perfect for the upcoming season. I love fall and winter. Everything is cool and cozy and not 100+ degrees! It's a perfect gift idea for the holidays!


I've worn this watch every day since I received it and I am always getting compliments! It's such an unusual concept, a wooden watch, but it is gorgeous. And it is very stylish. I've had no issues with the watch, I did have to take out a link on either side to have it fit me properly. 


I used OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls as my base. The trees are created with OPI My Pointe Exactly and Misa Grey Matters. I stamped using Konad Grey and Winstonia W115.

The Digit-al Dozen Does Countries and Cultures - France


Day 5 and final day of The Digit-al Dozen Does Countries and Cultures Week! Phew! Made it! Today I give you France! Vive la France! Don't know if I ever told you all this but I took a year of French (Québécois) in high school and then four classes (Parisian) in University! I am in no way fluent, I can read and understand more than I can speak. :) I'm really good at answering: "comment allez-vous?" "comme ci comme ça, et vous?" I had to create a whole children's book in french with illustrations; of course mine was about une chouette (ou un hibou)!


I created the French flag using China Glaze First Mate, Milani White on the Spot (also base for other two nails), and OPI The Thrill of Brazil. I created a park of the gardens of Versailles by stamping using Konad Olive Green and Konad S6. I went back over the stamped image with the same green to give it more of a hedge look.. I finished with the Eiffel Tower stamped in Konad Black and Winstonia W114. I added China Glaze Fairy Dust because Paris is the City of Light! All sealed with the glorious HK Girl Top Coat, c'est magnifique!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Countries and Cultures Week - Canada: True North Strong and Free


Day 4 of The Digit-al Dozen Does Countries and Cultures Week takes you northward to Canada! Being of dual citizenship (USA and Canada) I had to post about Canada! I moved to Southern Alberta when I was nine years old, I graduated high school there, and I have a ton of cousins there,(I really mean a ton, my dad is 1 of 12 kids!).


For my mani I chose to use Nail Nation 3000 Carpe Diem as my base. It's a slight holo white. I stamped using Konad White and Vivid Lacquer VL006. I then stamped a few maple leafs (duh, it's Canada!) using Sally Hansen Mochachino and Winstonia W119. I sealed the mani with HK Girl Top Coat.

I really liked this mani, it's simplicity is very beautiful to me; just like Canada!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Countries and Cultures Week - Scotland


Day 3 of The Digit-al Dozen Does Countries and Cultures Week and today I take you to the highlands of Scotland! Ach! If I could travel any where, Scotland is one place that I would love to visit! I always have, and I always will. (see what I did there? Oh I hope someone does!)


I created the Scottish Flag using Milani White on the Spot as my base (and the base for all the nails) and taped off the Saint Andrew's Cross and painted China Glaze First Mate. For my ring finger I created the national flower of Scotland, a thistle! I used KleanColor Metallic Purple and Metallic Green and Bundle Monster BM 313. For my pinkie I, of course, had to represent the national animal, a unicorn! How awesome is that! I stamped using Barry M Foil Effects Silver and  Winstonia W117. (had to make the unicorn sparkly, it's magical!). I used HK Girl Top Coat to seal the entire mani.

I hope my fellow Scottish readers will like what I did!

The Nail Challenge Collaborative Presents Black & White: Animals!


Day three of The Nail Challenge Collaborative's Black & White theme. And today we have some animals! Some super cute animals!

"What? You've never seen a black and white before?" -Mushu from Mulan.


I used Milani White on the Spot as my base. I stamped using Konad Black and Winstonia W115. I added the dotticure accent nail using Wet n' Wild Black Creme. I sealed it all with Poshe top coat.

The Lazy Blogger's 31DC: Inspired by a Movie


Inspired by a movie.........I really struggled with this one. Hopefully Emma had better luck! :) My creativity all used up until I remembered these stamping plates. 

Any guesses on the movie? Anyone?




Ah yes, A Knight's Tale. Such a good movie! I love Heath Ledger! 

I chose Color Club Mamba as my base because the movie poster had a lot of red in it. I stamped the jousting knights in Konad Black from Vivid Lacquer VL020. And the the stars are from Winstonia W107. 

I did a gradient of silver and gold BarryM Foil Effects to show that you can change your stars! :)
