TGIF: Indie Holos!

I know that I've shown these before but I had a craving to wear them again. The base is two coats of Model City Dipping Chocolate. This is a gorgeous holo brown! Love it! I then did a french tip using Slick Lacquer A Wink and a Nod. A lovely nude holo! I added a little China Glaze Trendsetter heart for fun! Topped with HK Girl Top Coat.

What do you think?

Dupes? Orly: Nite Owl vs Slick Lacquer: A Wink and a Nod

I was asked by Missy from Gnarly Gnails to do dupe/comparison post of these two polishes! This is Orly Nite Owl and Slick Lacquer A Wink and a Nod. Sorry this post was quickly done but I had no problem doing it because it gave me yet another reason to wear two of my favorite polishes! :)

The photo above shows one coat each of Orly Nite Owl (index and ring fingers) and Slick Lacquer A Wink and a Nod (middle and pinkie fingers). As you can see they are not the same color! Both are beautiful nudes with shimmers. Orly is a silver shimmer where Slick Lacquer is a holo shimmer.

Here is two coats of each, again: Orly Nite Owl (index and ring fingers) and Slick Lacquer A Wink and a Nod (middle and pinkie fingers). Orly is definitely more brown whereas Slick Lacquer is more grey based.

Both are fabulous! Both apply like a dream -- like buttah! And I can't stop staring at either when I am wearing them! :)

So are they dupes? Nope, not at all. But they are both stunning!

Do you need both? Heck yes you do! Run, don't walk and get them! You will not be disappointed!

You can get Orly Nite Owl where ever you are able to buy Orly polish as it is part of their core line now! Score!

My Favorite Things: February

I love reading about other bloggers and their favorite things so I thought I would join in with Emma over at Manicurity and post my favorite things with her list of questions.

favorite new (tried) polish: Probably Catrice ACid/DC. Catrice polish is just amazing. The formula is fabulous! Plus they have fun catchy names! :) Oh how can you go wrong with this amazing color?

favorite new (UNtried) polish: China Glaze Budding Romance from the Avant Garden Collection. A beautiful ugly green! Yes please!

favorite new (tried) indie polish: Slick Lacquer A Wink and a Nod. Wow is this polish just amazingly gorgeous. And the formula is perfection!

favorite new collection: Probably the Zoya PixieDust Collection. Even though I don't own any....yet. And I am really shocked because I usually don't like Zoya, but I am super excited for these! :)

favorite manicure you did this month: I would have to say my ampersand mani for The Digit-al Does Does Love and Heartbreak using Slick Lacquer A Wink and a Nod. I love the memory of the story I told and I am so happy with how it turned out.

Plus my little black strappy dress I created for The Digit-al Dozen Does Love and Heartbreak. My first tape mani that I actually love! :)

And I couldn't just leave it at two! I love my remake of my peacock mani I did for my relaxed 31 Day Challenge. :)

favorite new technique or tip: creating your own nail decals with your polish a head of time on page protectors! Love this and it works great! I have more control over the polish and it's all at the right angle! :)

favorite new makeup item: I would have to Stila All Over Shimmer Liquid Luminizer in Rose Gold. I got this (sample size) in my Birchbox a few months back but have only recently started using it. And I love the shimmer and brightness it adds!

favorite TV show right now: Well, The Amazing Race started back up this month! Woot! Woot! I love this show! A new favorite show is: Cult. Only seen one episode so far but I am already hooked! Anyone else watch it?

currently reading: Eona by Allison Goodman. Won't tell you much on it, saving it for a Wednesday's Reads. But it is the sequel to Eon. And it is very interesting. Plus I am still plunking through A Game of Thrones (will I ever finish it? Who knows!?)

And there you go! What were your favorites this month?! Feel free to comment with your list!

TGIF: Thank Goodness, Indie Friday and The Digit-al Dozen Does Love and Heartbreak - Slick Lacquer

Welcome to the last day of The Digit-al Dozen Does Love and Heartbreak. It is also TGIF: Thank Goodness, Indy Indie Friday. Today I have Slick Lacquer's A Wink and a Nod. I saw swatches of this over at Gnarly Gnails and knew I had to have it!

But what does this have to do with love or heartbreak? It's love. The ampersand represents love to me. Let me explain. One year I was writing down all my siblings name with their spouses joined by an ampersand. So it was so & so and so & so, etc. I sighed out loud to my sister and said, "all I want for Christmas this year is an ampersand. I want to be joined with someone. I want to be Kirsten & someone". My 11 year-old nephew was there and heard that. He disappeared and showed up later with a wrapped ampersand cut out of construction paper. Ahhh! I still have this tucked safely in my drawer.

That is why I chose to stamp the ampersand image from Bundle Monster BM-311 using Konad White. I topped it off with HK Girl.

This polish is stunning! A nude grey with a shimmer! This is so so me! The formula of this polish fabulous and smooth! This is two coats! I love this polish!

Slightly shady here to show the warmer color of it.
