The Digit-al Dozen Does Fandom Week: Star Trek

Day 2 of The Digit-al Dozen Does Fandom Week and I bring you one of the most famous fandoms of all: Trekkies or Trekkers (depending on who you talk to and the type of fan they are). And how can I do a fandom themed week without including Star Trek!?

I attempted to use my Sugar Bubbles SB014 plate to create my Spock image. I think I need longer nails for any image to work. The Star Trek symbol is also from the same plate. I used Konad Black to stamp the images. Except for my pinkie in which I used Color Club Harp On It.

For the base colors I used OPI Fiercely Fiona, Zoya Sooki, BarryM Malibu all over Wet n Wild Black Creme to create the shirt colors, and I used Wet n Wild Black Creme on my pinkie. I used Color Club Cherubic and Harp On It with A England Briar Rose and Tristam, and OPI Fiercely Fiona to create a single galaxy nail. Sealed all with HK Girl Top Coat.

Here are some pretty fantastic Star Trek based songs. Enjoy!

The Nail Challenge Collaborative Presents: Animals - Going to the Zoo to see Seals

Oh thank goodness, it's the last day of this animal theme and these decals! I had such a good idea, use a song from my childhood and create it in mani form. Who knew that this song would create nightmares! This here is a seal. Yep. That red thing? Oh it's a beach ball, can't you tell? Ya, me either, that's why I pointed it out. >_<

Hey, at least it sort of looks like a seal. Right? I mean, it's grey so that's something! :)

We're goin' to the zoo, zoo, zoo
How about you, you, you?
You can come too, too, too
We're goin' to the zoo, zoo, zoo

Well, the seals in the pool all honk-honk-honkin'
They're catchin' the fish and honk-honk-honkin'
The little tiny seals all honk-honk-honkin'
And we can stay all day

We're goin' to the zoo, zoo, zoo
How about you, you, you?
You can come too, too, too
We're goin' to the zoo, zoo, zoo

There are more versus to the song, but thankfully this theme is only four days long. Shucky darn. I know, I know, you all wanted me to continue with the demons animals. Don't worry, there's always all the other times when I attempt nail art to look forward too! Yay! I wonder if anyone is actually reading these four posts and realize just how much I've lost it. I think it's the polish fumes or maybe the monkey and the bear have really made me insane!

I used Layla Softouch Effects in 09 and 10 (10 is the sparkly one!). Wet N Wild Black Creme for the spider eyes dots and background of the beach ball with BarryM Blood Orange (appropriate) for the rest of the ball. Seal monster is part of those darn acrylic decals I made over a week ago.

This is the seal I had in mind when creating this mani:

Don't forget to check out the other Day 4 manis that are better than this one! Hahahahaha! ;)

The Nail Challenge Collaborative Presents: Animals - Going to the Zoo to See Monkeys!

Have you ever had a mani that you planned out (made decals for it a week before!) and when you did all but the decal you were in love with how it was, right then and there? Just like that? That's me with today's animal prompt for the Nail Challenge Collaborative.

We're goin' to the zoo, zoo, zoo
How about you, you, you?
You can come too, too, too
We're goin' to the zoo, zoo, zoo

See all the monkeys, they're scritch-scritch scratchin'
Jumpin' around and scritch-scritch scratchin'
Hangin' by the long-tail
And we can stay all day

We're goin' to the zoo, zoo, zoo
How about you, you, you?
You can come too, too, too
We're goin' to the zoo, zoo, zoo

So, this is Barielle Panama Pina Colada. Have you ever seen a more beautiful yellow? This is two coats of lovely-ness. I created my dots using Wet N Wild Black Creme and stamped using Konad Black and Cheeky CH42.

Perfection, at least in my mind.

But then I had to add the decal, had to right? I mean it's an animal prompt but there is not animal truly depicted with my mani.

Here's the freaky monkey!

Ahhh! He is sucking my will to live! (memo to self, memo to self: remember pupils when making decals!) He's to big and too...creepy...err...ogre...what the heck...yikes! Bahahahahahaha!

So here's the mani with the monkey. Now you see why I used the monkey-less mani to start with. Wasn't going to scare people away from my blog! :) Oh and I used acrylics to create the soul-less monkey.

The Digit-al Dozen Does Spooky Days: Aged Wallpaper

Today's spooky post is wallpaper that has been left to rot and decay in the houses of the not so rich and famous.

Here we have our wallpaper so fresh and new! BarryM Mustard (love this color!) for the base stamped with BarryM Chai (yes! a grey that actually looks grey when stamped! Gonna need some back ups!) using MoYou Fashionista 08.

The wallpaper is now showing signs of abandonment. It's gotten dusty thanks to OPI My Pointe Exactly and Essie Matte About You. It's even starting to peel in some places thanks to acetone and a brush. It's starting to show the wall color under it, BarryM Chai.

And finally the wallpaper has been taken over by a little brown spider created from BarryM Mocha and Wet n Wild Black Creme. His webs (my first attempt at the spun sugar technique) is also the lovely BarryM Chai.

I hope you liked our visit today to derelict walls of the not so rich and famous!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Floral Week: Stationary Flowers

Day three of Floral Week and I bring you another floral pattern I found on Print & Pattern. This is based on some stationary found in a British Department store called John Lewis.

This is my attempt of creating more detail in my nail art. I had a lot of fun creating this mani even though it's not perfect. :)

I used Wet n Wild Black Creme as my base. For the flowers I used: Barielle My City Apartment, OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls, China Glaze Def Defying, BarryM Grapefruit, BarryM Pomegranate, and OPI Mermaid's Tears. I used Essie Matte About You to finish off the look.

Don't forget to check out the other floral manis the ladies created!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Summer: Raindrops

Day five of The Digit-al Dozen Does Summer and today I have the rain that comes (hopefully) after a Haboob.

I used OPI Here Today.....Aragon Tomorrow Suede as my base (two coats). I then used Sally Hansen Emerald City to create veins on my leaf. I then put on a thin coat of Wet n Wild Matte Top Coat (the veins almost disappeared). I then used a dotting tool and Poshe to create the raindrops.

Not exactly how I pictured it turning out, but it'll do. :)

Phew! I made through Summer! Now if only the Arizona summer would end, I'm hating 110F plus days! Grrrr!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Summer: The Sun is a Mass of Incandescent Gas

"The sun is a mass of incandescent gas, a gigantic nuclear furnace, where hydrogen is built into helium and a temperature of a millions of degrees." - They Might Be Giants, Why Does the Sun Shine?

Today is day two of The Digit-al Dozen Does Summer and I decided to create the sun! Yes! Me! I have created the sun!

http://a57.foxnews.com/global.fncstatic.com/static/managed/img/876/493/solar-flare-internal-424.jpg?ve=1&tl=1

See? It's the sun! Complete with solar flares!

Here is how the sun looks before it was matte-i-fied! I started with two coats of OPI The Thrill of Brazil. I then used Wet n Wild to create the nothingness that is space (two coats). I added SpaRitual Invention to the OPI to give it some sizzle! I used the OPI to also create the solar flares with SpaRitual over top. I then dabbed some Barielle Fire Me Up over the red to warm it up some more and added some more SpaRitual Invention. I used Milani White on the Spot and Barielle Cream 'N Sugar to create the hot spots on the sun (also added some SpaRitual over them too. I used Poshe Top Coat to seal it all up.

I liked it but I knew something was missing.

Enter Essie Matte About You. Now I love it! The sun is perfect for summer! Especially in Arizona, bleh! Too hot!

I hope everyone has a little earworm now! Muwahahahaahaha! I love this song!

The Nail Challenge Collaborative Presents Recreate Your First Four Nail Designs: Red

Nothing like leaving this month's Nail Challenge Collaborative theme to the last four days of the month! Eeks! This month's theme is to recreate you first four nail designs. Well, my designs were doing the 31 day challenge (which I have completed in one way or another three times). So this is Red.

These are the same polishes that I used way back in January 2012 for my Red Nails. I used two coats of Zoya Sooki. This is probably my most used red, and this is a mini, and it's still not that empty! Hahahaaha! Guess I don't use red all that much! I sort of dry brushed on Wet 'n Wild Behind Closed Doors. This is a black based red glitter. And guess what? Some of the glitters are starting to loose their color! See, even major companies have this issue.

I had Essie Matte About You to finish it off and I like it much better. Now, are you ready for the photo of the red mani from 2012? Brace yourselves!

I've come a long way baby! My nail beds seem so much longer then. Of course I'm still dealing with the damage my gel nails did to my nails.

Don't forget to check out the others and their day 1 recreations!

The Nail Challenge Collaborative Presents Black & White: Animals!

Day three of The Nail Challenge Collaborative's Black & White theme. And today we have some animals! Some super cute animals!

"What? You've never seen a black and white before?" -Mushu from Mulan.

I used Milani White on the Spot as my base. I stamped using Konad Black and Winstonia W115. I added the dotticure accent nail using Wet n' Wild Black Creme. I sealed it all with Poshe top coat.

Don't forget to check out the other Day 3 posts!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Metal Week: Saran Wrap Gold!

I know that I've been quiet for a while. Sorry about that. Last week was such a crazy week! So glad it's done! I hope to more active on my blog now that that week is gone! Well, another month means another Digit-al Dozen theme! This month it's Metal. Ok, this week really kicked me in the butt! I had such a hard time coming up with ideas! Today's though, I absolutely love how it turned out!

I started with two coats of Wet n Wild Black Creme, added a coat of Poshe top coat. I let it totally dry. Then I used BarryM Foil Effects Gold and did the saran wrap method. And it actually worked! Yes! Finally! I added the french tips using Art Club Black. Topped with Poshe Top Coat and rhinestones for some elegance!

I am totally loving this!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Decades Week: The Space Race of the 1950's

Day three of The Digit-al Dozen Does Decades Week, and I welcome you to the 50's! This decade had many major events. It is the start of the Cold War, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and the Space Race.
"The Space Race was a 20th-century (1955–1972) competition between two Cold War rivals, the Soviet Union (USSR) and the United States (US), for supremacy in spaceflight capability. The technological superiority required for such supremacy was seen as necessary for national security, and symbolic of ideological superiority." -source

I wanted something crisp and symbol and love how this turned out! I used Wet n Wild Black Creme as the base. I added China Glaze Fairy Dust to serve as my stars! I used  Cheeky CH45 and BarryM Foil Effects Silver for my stamping. Essence Silver Surfer was used for the numbers and HK Girl for the top coat.

Don't forget to check out the other ladies to see what decade they visit today!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Brands Week - Victoria's Secret

Ok, so I saved the best for last! I asked my niece what other brands should I do. Well, she works at Victoria's Secret, so she suggested that and I had to include the PINK line. I thought and thought about how to pull it off. I check the internet for different ideas and found a few to get me started: this one really helped out, I don't know who it is by so I can't give credit. If you know, please let me know!

For the PINK nail I used two coats Milani White on the Spot. I used a pink Sharpie for the words and Wet 'N Wild Black Creme to create the "dog". Yep, I call that thing very loosely a dog because it's more like a blob with legs? Hahahaha!

For the blingy nail I used three coats of China Glaze Glistening Snow and two coats of China Glaze Techno. I love how it turned out! So blingy and perfect for Victoria's Secret! I then used an Essence Nail Art Tattoo pen that I found at Ulta to create the V and S. Let me tell you, that pen is awesome! So much more precise than a Sharpie! Need to get me some more to have on hand!

For my over-the-top ring finger I used two coats of Color Club He Loves Me. Since I don't have much practice with rhinestones I had to ask around how to get that many rhinestones onto to my nail and have them stay. I used a regular top coat (Sally Hansen) that took longer to dry and placed the stones on individually to recreate the stripes that you find on their bags! So I'm not really into 3D items on my nails, but I love this!

On my pinkie I used two coats of Sinful Colors VIP and dotted it with Color Club He Loves Me. All topped off with HK Girl Top Coat. You guys, I really didn't want to take this off! This is the first mani in a really long time that I really really loved! I didn't want to take it off!

Had to show you a macro of the too blingy nails! How cool are they! Bah! I love them!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Brands Week - Disney

So I've had a mani pinned (click on the link to be taken to CutePolish's YouTube video to show how to create the castle) on my Pinterest board for a while and thought I could never recreate it. I was too scared! But I thought I would give it a shot for this week, because I love Disney! And Disneyland is like my home away from home.

Disneyland will always hold a special place in my heart. It is where my parents met, in line for The Matterhorn. For Christmas after my mother died, us kids chipped in and bought a tile dedicated to my parents! My Dad has a small wooden replica of it in his bedroom. These tiles are in between Disneyland and California Adventures. (heart added for privacy.)  :)

I use to live near Disneyland when I was little, I was actually born in Anaheim where it is located. But I remember my Dad telling us that Disneyland was too far away and that's why we couldn't visit a lot. Um, yeah, nope! My brother and I timed it one time when we went back to visit California. An hour. An hour away from Disneyland. Gee, thanks Dad! When we told him that he laughed and said, "but you didn't know that when you were little!".

I started out with Barielle Go Lightly, I believe at 3, maybe 4 coats (very sheer). I then added China Glaze Fairy Dust, because, uh duh! Disney and fairy dust go perfectly together! I used acrylic paint to create the castle and Wet 'N Wild Black Creme for the "D". I topped it off with HK Girl Top Coat.

I really loved how this turned out! I was so surprised at how straight my lines turned out using the really long scary striping brush!

Have you done any nail art that you were scared to do? Did it work out?

Baroness of Glitter Review

So I was recently contacted by Demi of Baroness of Glitter to do some reviews of a few of her polishes. Sadly I had to put it on hold do to health reasons. I want to thank Demi for being so understanding! And for creating some really fabulous polishes! Let's take a look, shall we?

*Warning: Picture Heavy! :)

This is Aura, multichrome topcoat that shifts from green to blue to purple to magenta. This is one coat of Aura over Wet 'n Wild Black Creme. Just look at that color! I love the shimmer in this top coat!

As many of you know, capturing multichromes on camera are a bit difficult. But trust me when I say, all the colors that it's suppose to shift to are there! But let's see some more photos.

Aura is such a gorgeous top coat! And the formula....wow! Ah-mazing! It spread nicely and honestly I had to make sure to get all the excess polish off my brush before using it! It just really wanted to be on my nails! :)

Next up we have Tyrian Purple, one coat over Wet 'n Wild Black Creme. First off, look at her labels! Aren't they just awesome! Love! Now look at this glitter, then look at the bottle, now look at my nails, gorgeous! (I'm kidding, it just felt like an Old Spice moment there!).

"Tyrian purple is the most expensive color since the ancient times. This is one of the beautiful and eye-popping colors. It is also known as ‘imperial purple’.

The royal color was used by emperors and kings of classical relic, including Alexander the Great, the Ptolemaic kings and the emperors of Rome.

The color is natural, and made from snail shells from the murex mollusk, a type of sea snail. It would take 250,000 murex shellfish to attain one ounce of Tyrian purple, so the dye was highly valued." source

This is just a really beautiful glitter! It has squares, hexes, and circles! Win! And I love the glowing quality of it.

Here's a back shot of the bottle so you can see the polish. It is a purple and gold glitter topper. It almost looks like deep space!

Here is one coat of Tyrian Purple over OPI Funky Dunkey. Love it!

Using Tyrian Purple over this OPI really punches the all the colors. When over black you really saw the glowing-ness of the polish. But over purple, the other colors really pop!

The formula on this was perfect! No fishing for glitter! They were just so happy to be swept up and put on my nails for all to see!

This is Karma, a multichrome topcoat that shifts blue to purple to red. It is actually a part of the Astralcolor Duo with Aura from above! This is one coat over Wet 'n Wild Black Creme.

I really love how deep this blue is! Again it's all super shimmery! And again, all the color shifts are there, just, you know, camera shy.

Like the other two polishes, Karma's formula was just perfect, smooth like buttah!

She is 5-Free and cruelty free! And I saw on her site that she is currently have a 10% off sale for a limited time! Don't know when that is so get over there quickly! :)
Get 10% off your entire order over $10 (excluding S&H), use code "10OFF".
