The Digit-al Dozen Does Food...At The Diner... Pie!

So I know I have been missing this week for the Digit-al Dozen. It's monsoon season here in Arizona and that means my anxiety kicks into high gear. But I did get one mani out. It's a special mani, because the ladies at the Digit-al Dozen have created an amazing blog hop for you to partake!
Bon Appetite!
Welcome to the grand finale of Food Week here at the Digital Dozen. We had an idea do do something a little off the rails today for our big finish. So, Welcome to the Digital Dozen Diner. Please look through our menu and check out what our chef's have in store for you today!

As you can see, all our chef's have their own diner food specialty cooked up for today.
I have a special pie just for you! (well, not that kind of special, no magical brownies here!) When I decided to create a pie mani I thought no problem. Um, problem. Did you know that if you look on Pinterest for pie mani, or pie nails, or pie manicure, etc; you get barely anything. At one point I had no search results! I thought I'd broken Pinterest! :)
But I did it! (I did it! I can't believe I did it! - thank you Dora) I decided to create an apple pie. But you know me, I can't just create any ol' apple pie...it's gotta be a geeky apple pie!

Hee-hee! You see what I did there? I used BarryM Green Berry and Konad Black with Cheeky CH16 for the formica diner countertop. I then whipped up an Apple logo using MoYou London Geek 07 and Konad White. Attempted a decal of Pi (muwahahahaha!) using Nailways Back to Basics 123 ABC with Konad White. And mixed in a bunch of different colors of BarryM polishes (Mocha, Caramel, and Lychee - whoa! Those are so real ingredients! Nailed it! Bah!) I added a little Orly Shinning Star for some cinnamon/pie filling glisten and a dollop of BarryM Coconut for the ice cream. This pie is a little over cooked, so it's a bit more brown but it still tastes fabulous! (I wouldn't recommend eating it, seriously though, don't. Do you see how 3D-ish the pie is? So many many layers of polish).
I hope you enjoyed your meal and remember to tip your waitress. Don't forget to follow the InLinkz below if you are still hungry and check out what the rest of our kitchen staff has cooked up. And don't forget to check out Instagram account @digitaldozen for a full run through later in the day!
Please Come Again,

* thank you Amanda from Lady Maid Nails for the layout of this post!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Neon: A Noble Gas

Day 4 of Neon week in which I don't use any neon polishes....ever! :)

Neon is considered a noble gas. That means that it is a stable gas on it's own, a stable single atom molecule at standard temperature and pressure. -source

It is a monatomic gas, a single gas not bounded to another.

So with the previous two pictures I hope you can see where I got my inspiration. I used OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls, Barry M Cardamom and Barry M Olive to create the atoms. I stamped using Barry M Foil Effects Gold and MoYou Tourist 01 to create the noble aspect. I used Essie Matte About You to finish it off.

Don't forget to check out the other ladies and their neon manis!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Fandom Week: Fandoms Rule!

Final day for The Digit-al Dozen Does Fandom Week and today I bring you some fandoms that I wasn't able to do a full mani because I ran out of time. But many of the ladies did cover these fandoms this week!

For the Lord of the Ring finger (ah man, I so should have put this fandom on my ring finger! D'oh!) I used BarryM Foil Effects Gold and stamped using Konad Black and MoYou Geek 07,

Sherlock nail is Milani White on the Spot with Konad Black MoYou Geek 07. I colored in the face with acrylic paint.

My ring finger is an epic image of many fandoms, it is on the Bundle Monster BM-602 plate and is genius! I stamped using Konad Black onto BarryM Mustard.

And last but not least Harry Potter Deathly Hallows stamped using Konad Black and My Online Shop MJ Jr-31 onto BarryM Caramel.

So ends this amazing week! I had such a great time creating these manis I might even do some more down the road. :)

Don't forget to check out the other ladies and their final fandom manis!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Fandom Week: Allons-y

Day 4 brings you a very popular and rightly so, amazing fandom of Doctor Who. Now there have been some discussion on what makes you a true Whovian: have you watched all episodes from the very beginning with the first Doctor? Or are you like me who started with the ninth Doctor? But no matter how you look at, we are all obsessed with the lovable man with two hearts!

I used Cult Nails Time Traveler (absolutely fantastic color) for my first two nails with OPI Boyfriend Scales Walls on the other nails. On my index nail I stamped using Konad White and My Online Shop MJ JR-31. Sadly a crack has started to appear on the T.A.R.D.I.S. Eeeks!

My middle finger has the phrase  A Mad Man in a (My Online Shop MJ JR-31 using Konad White). Rightly so. No one madder than the Doctor, but I'd have him on my team any day! I also added Above the Curve Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey  to add some sparkle and pizazz!

My ring finger represents my favorite Doctor, number ten. He will always be my favorite. I used Konad Black and stamped using MoYou Geek 07 for the 3D glasses and MoYou Pro 04 for the rose. I colored in the glasses with Konad Red and BarryM Malibu. The rose is colored in with OPI Magenta Muse (love these new color paints!)

And finally on my pinkie is a bit of Gallifreyan (the Doctor's written language). I used Konad Black and MoYou Geek 07.

Don't forget to check out the other ladies and their fandoms!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Fandom: Still Flyin'

Day 3 of The Digit-al Dozen Does Fandom Week and I give you one of the best fandoms ever! I am and forever will be a Browncoat! Still flyin'!

A Browncoat is a fan of the TV Show Firefly (created by Joss Whedon) and it's movie (brought about because of it's fandom) Serenity. This short-lived (at least on TV, thanks FOX) show is about some pretty amazing space cowboys.

I started off with OPI My Vampire is Buff on each of my nails (oh please of please someone see what I did there! Hahahaha!). I used Essie Matte about you as my topcoat. On my index I used MdU Light Gray to stamp some metal panels using Bundle Monster BM-609. The Serenity (the ship) is stamped in Konad Black using My Online Shop MJ Jr-31. This nail represents part of the first scene in the movie Serenity:

My middle finger is stamped with dinosaurs from Bundle Monster BM-611 using BarryM Vanilla and a leaf from Winstonia W113 and MdU Ochre. This nail represents our beloved pilot Wash. I will only show you one image, the dinosaur scene, because the leaf reference is too sad.

My ring finger represents River (also, she can kill you with her mind). I sponged BarryM Chai for the base and stamped using Konad Black and filled in the hands with BarryM Blueberry. "two by two, hands of Blue" is a phrase in the TV series that River quotes. It refers to men who are after River and her brother. These men have some really advance technology that can make you bleed from every orifice. *joy*

And finally my pinkie can have two different meanings. I sponged a ton of different polishes (BarryM Chilli, Mango, Cocoa) and stamped using Konad Black and MdU Papyrus and MoYou London Suki 04 (the writing). I wanted to this to represent the colors of Serenity with the script on it as Mandarin is commonly used in the series. But the script doesn't show up that well and so can also be taken as Jayne's (because they are also his colors, especially wearing his hat) quote: "She is startin' to damage my calm". Because my sponging looks chaotic.

If you haven't seen this series or movie, please take the time to watch it, you won't be disappointed. You may have withdrawals (thanks FOX).

Today was one of my favorite fandoms! Don't forget to check out the other ladies and what they chose!

The Digit-al Dozen Patterns on Patterns: Bleep Bloop Bloop Bleep!

Bleep bloop bloop bleep! That means I love you in robot! :) Today I have some stamping, not just double stamping, no no, that's child's play, I have triple stamping (that's right I'm playing with the big boys now! *cue Prince of Egypt Steve Martin and Martin Short song).

I started out with this glorious SpaRitual polish Nomad (sandy matte shimmer!). Look at the flecks in there! Ooo-weee! She's a beaut! I then proceeded to goop up my cuticles with hair glue. I use a little plastic spatula that you use to get creams out of jars. You know, those sample ones that Sephora gives you or that you see at Ulta.

I stamped using the beautiful Briar Rose by A England. I've been using my Creative Shop big huge stamper and I'm in love! I used MoYou Sailor 03. Thank goodness for the goo!

Next I added what ended up looking like holographic spiderwebs using Color Club Cherubic and Bundle Monster BM-316. It's like a laser show!

Finally ended up added some adorkable love bots from MoYou Sci-Fi 02 and A England Saint George. I did top it off with HK Girl Top Coat and *le gasp* shrinkage! Say what? HK Girl has never done this to me before. So sad! I mean, I guess I can't really wrap my tips when I have no free edge now can I? :)

Ack! Giant thumb! D'aw but cute little love bot.

I really liked this mani but I think I really liked the base stamping photos best. But a little love bot love never hurt anyone! Am I right?

The Digit-al Dozen Does Patterns on Patterns: Kissed Smooshed Camo

Eeeks! Surprise! Surprise! I have a right hand! Rarely does it ever get in the spotlight, good reason too: my left hand stinks at nail art and painting! But as I didn't want to take off my Flowers over Dots mani I created this one on my other hand.

So I started out with two coats of BarryM Waikiki. I then did the Smoosh Attack that I learned from Roberta's (Bob Plats with Polish) IG photo here. (Found out that Elle aka @with21 on IG invented the Smoosh Attack) Funny thing is that Amanda from Lady Maid Nails also did a version of this technique yesterday! I wish I would have thought to do lighter colors like Amanda did. There's always another day! :)

I smooshed together BarryM Chai, BarryM Mustard, and BarryM Watermelon. I then stamped using China Glaze Infra Red and MoYou Hipster 08 topped with HK Girl Top Coat.

Of course I had to matte it using Essie Matte About You. So this isn't the greatest, not what I had planned but I think lefty did an alright job and was able to let righty shine....err...matte? :) Can I just say, it is really awkward trying to take a photo of your dom hand! I had no idea how to hole the polish bottle! So many awkward photos I had to sort through, so so many. Hahahahahaha!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Patterns on Patterns: Colorful Birds

Day 2 brings you multi-colored birds over a chevron. I was inspired by this photo here, but alas it didn't come out as planned. One thing being, I don't own a really good chevron stamp, say what!? I know! Cra-zy!

Used BarryM Cardamom as my base. Stamped the chevron using Konad White and VividLacquer VL 006. The birds are: BarryM Grapefruit, BarryM Mango, and BarryM Plum using MoYou Hipster 08. Topped off with HK Girl Top Coat.

Add a chevron plate and some better floral stamps to my list (any good ones I should know about?). I think if the birds were a bit bigger it would have helped. But I'm still learning this whole double stamping thing! :)

The Digit-al Dozen Does Patterns on Patterns: Flowers over Dots

Welcome to another month and another week of The Digit-al Dozen!  This month's theme is Patterns on Patterns. There has been a lot of mumbling about what to create. You'd think it would be easy, but it was a bit interesting coming up with ideas. Can't wait to see what everyone does!

I thought I would show you how I created this mani. I use hair glue that I got from Sally's and put it around my nails. This stuff is amazing! It kind of stinks but it dries fairly quickly and comes off super easy! I used OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls as my base. I stamped using BarryM Waikiki, BarryM Chai, and BarryM Cancun to stamp with using Vivid Lacquer VL020.

I then stamped using BarryM Watermelon and MoYou Suki 01. I topped it off with HK Girl Top Coat. I love the way this turned out! Probably one of my favorites! I didn't want to take it off!

I decided to add Essie Matte About You and loved it even more! I think this is one of my most successful double stamping ever! Woot! Truth be told I did look over Katee's blog, A Girl and Her Polish, to know what colors I should stamp first, which would show up best over each other.

Look! Out image for this week is flower over dots too! :)

The Nail Challenge Collaborative Presents: Wallpaper - A Story Part 4

Phew! They finished! In four days the couple managed to redo their walls from turtle shell wallpaper to this trendy crisp metallic damask. They loved it and they couldn't wait to redo more walls in their dream house!

I used BarryM Chai (two coats), stamped using BarryM Foil Effects Silver and MoYou Fashionista 08. Topped it off with HK Girl Topcoat in this photo and Essie Matte About You in the first photo.

I truly love this mani. I wish it was as long lasting as wallpaper! I don't know which version I like better, the glossy or the matte.

I hope you enjoyed this weeks take on the theme of wallpaper. Next month is a new challenge so I need to get my thinking cap on! :) And I'll have time (so I say, we shall see if I actually prepare further in advance!) since it's not the last day of the month that I finished this theme!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Fairytales: The Golden Key

Well, today is the final day of fairytale week, and though I am one who was really wanted this theme I can see that it has bit me in the butt. I am so glad it is done! But you all should really check out all the links on each day because we have some new ladies with us and everyone has done such a fabulous job!

Today's fairytale is The Golden Key which is part of Grimm's Fairy Tales. "A poor boy gathering wood with a sleigh wants to warm himself by a fire and finds a small golden key beneath the snow; then he finds a small iron box in the ground. The text ends with the statement that the reader now has to wait until he has unlocked it." -source

I liked that this tale leaves the reader hanging, questioning what happens next? It's simplistic in it's form and delivers the moral that what happens next is what you desire to do. You are the writer of your own story, you choose the path in which to take.

I used Milani White on the Spot (two coats), China Glaze Fairy Dust (duh, had to use this at least once this week!), BarryM Foil Effects in both gold and silver, and MoYou Kitty 11 (keyhole) and LO01 (key). Topped with HK Girl Topcoat.
