The Digit-al Dozen Does Winter Wonderland: Holiday Stripes or Daleks?

Another day of The Digit-al Dozen Does Winter Wonderland and today I have a tape mani in holiday colors or are they holiday Daleks? Hmmmmm.......

I was inspired to create these when I saw Bad Girl Nails do these in blue. I think they are perfect for the holidays!

I used Orly Mirrorball as my base (two colors). How amazing is this polish! I then used China Glaze Red-Y & Willing and Models Own Golden Green. I used Poshe to help hold the rhinestones in place!

Don't forget to check out the other ladies and their Winter Wonderland manis!

ABC: G is for Golden Green (times 2) and Geeky Owl

Like a month ago I stopped with my ABC posts, well, here is G! Today is a comparison post. I have two polishes both named Golden Green. One is by CQ and the other is by Models Own. Let's take a look. Above you see both polishes at one coat each. CQ Golden Green is on my index and ring fingers. Models Own Golden Green is on my middle and pinky fingers.

Models Own Golden Green is a but more opaque and brighter than the CQ Golden Green. But the Models Own gave me a bit more of an issue while applying it, a bit gunky in places.

Two coats each of CQ Golden Green (index and ring fingers) and Models Own Golden Green (middle and pinky fingers). Pretty dang close! Which is fab because CQ Golden Green is easier to get here in the US because it's at Rite Aid. :)

One thing I did notice was that Models Own Golden Green which is on the nail on the bottom is brighter and more green with yellow. The CQ (nail on top) definitely has more golden olive hues in it. But since I really like this color, I'm glad I have both! (um, plus a few more that probably look like these!)

And here we have the debut of my other custom polish created by the wonderful Kevan of Dragon Lacquer. This glitter is called Geeky Owl. And I love it! A lot! It's varying sizes and shapes of grey glitter! What!? Grey?! Yep! I'm stoked! Thank you so much Kevan!

Macro shot of Geeky Owl by Dragon Lacquer to show you it's not bubbles but tiny glitters! Isn't it purdy! :)

I also used HK Girl Top Coat on this mani.

I'm so glad a stepped up and ask for custom made polishes. I was a little scared at first to approach and then worried I wasn't going to like them. But Kevan was wonderful to work with and I love the final product! Thanks again!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Love and Heartbreak PLUS 31 Day Challenge 2013 Day 12: Recreate a Manicure

Wow! Today is the final day of the 31 Day Challenge 2013 (relaxed version). I cannot believe it's already over! I had so much fun (and stress!), saw many fabulous manis, and got to do a lot of nail art! One fabulous mani really stuck out to me and so I decided to recreate Emma, from Manicurity, Purple Rain. This is a dry brush purple loveliness that you all need to check out!

Just want to say thank you to Emma from Manicurity for putting the 31 Day Challenge together, creating the image, and breaking down the days to make it longer! Thanks! :)

As it is also The Digit-al Dozen Does Love and Heartbreak I decided to put a spin on it by adding some hearts! (in the colors of conversation heart candies!)

Here are my hearts all dry and waiting to be applied. I told you I abuse this technique of creating the extras on a sheet protector and then applying them to the nail. It's genius! The colors I used are: China Glaze Electric Beat, Color Club He Loves Me, Finger Paints Choco Mint, and Models Own Lemon Meringue. I also used HK Girl as a top coat to apply the hearts.

Here is my recreation of Emma's Purple Rain before I applied the hearts and love! :) I used OPI Funky Dunkey (dark) and OPI Planks A Lot. I alternated the colors for the base and then dry brushed the opposite color. I used China Glaze Material Girl as the glitter.

Don't forget to check out the others in The Digit-al Dozen and see what Love and Heartbreak has visited!

Also, don't forget to check out the other fabulous ladies doing their final day in the 31 Day Challenge 2013 (relaxed version)!

Red Carpet Lacquer Zoinks and Ruh-Roh Do Overs!

So I had a lot of comments asking to see the two Red Carpet Lacquer polishes over other colors. So I decided to do some do overs! I skittled them! This is Red Carpet Lacquer Zoinks (one coat) over Finger Paints Circus Peanuts, China Glaze Electric Beat, OPI Sparrow Me the Drama, Models Own Lemon Meringue, and Essence No More Drama.

I love it over all the different polish colors!

This is Red Carpet Lacquer Ruh Roh (one coat) over Finger Paints Circus Peanuts, China Glaze Electric Beat, OPI Sparrow Me the Drama, Models Own Lemon Meringue, and Essence No More Drama. I chose to keep the same polish colors because I figured they were a good array of colors! :)

Both of these glitters by Red Carpet Lacquer are amazing and easy to use. Their formulas are fantastic. Have you bought them yet? If so what colors do you like to combine them with?

* Oh and please excuse the claw of showing polish on all five fingers. I just can't do it gracefully. And while I was taking these pictures I had this running through my mind:

Thank Goodness, Indie Friday - Once Upon a Polish SNow White and the Seven Dwarfs

Welcome to this week's episode of TGIF: Thank Goodness, Indy Indie Friday!  Today I am featuring Once Upon a Polish Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

This is my first shredded glitter polish! Snow White and the Seven Drawfs has silver holographic hex glitters, black shredded glitters, and white hex glitters in a clear base. I love this look but I gotta say, the black shredded glitters kind of gave me some difficulties in spreading on my nails. I had to more place them then allow them to go randomly. But other than that I love it! And I'm totally fine with glitter being a bit of a handle with care! :)

The above photo is two coats of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs on my index and middle fingers with one coat on ring and pinkie fingers.

So I had a few comments on what the glitters I am showing would look like on other colors. So I thought to do a skittle with my glitters to show you a range! :) All are one coat of Once Upon a Polish Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. (l-r) China Glaze Make Some Noise, OPI Mermaid's Tears, OPI Funky Dunkey, and Models Own Lemon Meringue. I like them all but my favorite(s) would be Mermaid's Tears and Lemon Meringue.

What do you think?

I promise this is another photo. It was a cloudy day and so not many of my photos worked. But both show how wonderfully shiny and glossy this top coat is! Love it!

Bottle shot of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. For some reason I really love the lid! :)

And glorious macro bottle shot of the yummy glitters in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Please make sure you check out Once Upon a Polish's etsy page here and her facebook page here!

Also please don't forget to check out Emma over at Manicurity who is also doing TGIF: Thank Goodness, Indie Fridays with me! :)

Adventures in Stamping: Easter Mani

So, I realized I only have one real-legitimate Easter themed stamp. Chez-Delaney plate H6. A teeny tiny chick popping out of an egg. Easter! Huh? It's the best I could do in the amount of time I didn't have. But I think it still turned out cute, not the best I've ever done, but we are all allowed these types of days (some more than others).

So I started with Models Own Lemon Meringue. And can I tell you what calming peaceful beautiful creamy yellow this is? I love it! I used two coats because the first coat didn't not go on very smooth and had some rough patches, but the second coat filled them in with no problems!

I added a coat of Seche Vite before topping it off with Essence Nail Art Twin Edward (yep he sparkles!). This is a lovely easy to use teal glitter with clear base. The glitter is green/teal squares with small teal glitter and micro holo glitter. Love!

I used Konad Special White for the eggshell of the stamp and Kleancolors Metallic Yellow for the chick! This is a slightly different look than I'm used to but I like it nonetheless! :)

Here is a shot of the Lemon Meringue, two coats and a coat of Seche Vite. Isn't it purdy! This is one of three Models Own polishes that I own and the first that I have used. This one wasn't the best polish I had ever used but not the worst either, just always a two coat to make it even. No big deal at all! At with that color as a result, I'm smitten! :)

So, I've had this Etsy shop for awhile now but I have revamped it and renamed it to Geeky Owl (coincidence? I think not!) Right now it just carries the bookmarks that I make but I hope to add different items to it eventually, hopefully when school is over I can get back to it all! :)

Hope you all have a safe weekend full of fun manis and exciting new polishes! :)
