40 Great Nail Art Ideas: Geeks

As you can see, this is a late post. To be honest, I had almost thrown in the towel on blogging this week. I really thought I was done. I had even created a mani for The Digit-al Dozen Does Autumn Week, but I couldn't get it to turn out the way I wanted it to and so I became anxious and gave up. I told the DD ladies that I didn't know what to do anymore.

But! I woke up this morning with an idea for a mani! A mani that fits both themes that I needed today! I needed a Digit-al Dozen Autumn mani and I needed 40 Great Nail Art Idea: Geeks mani.

And I did it! I did it! I can't believe I did it! Yay! (Hahahahahaha, I hope someone sung that song while reading that).

I am hoping you all can tell where I got my inspiration. (pssst, my own blog!)
Owl and colors I used = Autumn. Steampunk and Owl = Geek (because that's me!). Boo-yah! I tried to match the colors as close as I could (thought I did a pretty fantabulous job).

My blog designs were all created by a dear friend of mine Missy (from Gnarly Gnails) (girl, I wish you were still blogging!I miss your face!). Looking over the icons and avatar and header she created got me thinking about the past couple of years. I realized that though I myself haven't grown so much as an artist (I think this is as good as it gets) but I do know that I have grown as a person. You all have been there for me, complete strangers, and yet we are all connected. And that is why I love the nail polish community!

So I chose my own blog design because the prompt was Geeks and I am a big huge Geek (with a capital G)!

I used BarryM Chai for the base of three of my nails (actually, this mani was a full mani....yep, all ten! Woot woot!). My accent finger is Pretty & Polished In the Buff (a gorgeous dusty mustard! Yummy!). I stamped using BarryM Cancun and Barry M Mustard using Messy Mansion MM43 for the Steampunk aspect. I used Konad Black and Born Pretty BP-L019 for the owl (I think he looks a lot like my little tab avatar guy). I used HK Girl Top Coat.

Guess what. I did this mani in an hour. All ten fingers! All with first try stamping! I think the polish gods were smiling down on me. I think I should take this as a sign. ;)

This is the collage for last week's 40 Great Nail Art Ideas: Teal (+ a pattern). I love these collages!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Nature Week: Flowers

Final day of The Digit-al Dozen Does Nature and I have thrown you all for a curve ball! This doesn't really follow my previous days. No science here. No, I really wanted to do some flowers. And I really really wanted to do some Splash Floral nail art inspired by Emily from The Lacquerologist

http://www.amazon.com/Idiots-Guides-Nail-Emily-Draher/dp/161564699X

I recently bought this amazing book from Amazon that Emily created and I love it! Her photos are amazing, the tutorials easy to follow, and it's just such an awesome book! I highly recommend it!

So one of my favorite styles that Emily creates are her Splash Florals. I have always loved them but had never attempted them. I decided to do it for this theme! I used a stamp for my flowers where she free-hands them with her mad skillz! :)

I used BarryM Chai (possibly my favorite grey!) and BarryM Green Berry as my main colors. My ring finger is an accent with Green Berry as the base and Chai as the splash of color. I stamped using Born Pretty BP-54 and Konad Black. And of course sealed it all with HK Girl Top Coat.

I seriously don't want to take this mani off! It's one of my favorites that I have done in a really long time! Thank you Emily for your awesomeness! :)

Don't forget to check out the other final nature manis!

ABC: I and Born Pretty Nail Art Stamp Review

Welcome back to the ABC challenge! Today is the letter I. I chose to use Max Factor Intense Plum and Orly It's Not Rocket Science. I wanted to add a little more pizazz to it so I added a stamp!

This is Nail Art Stamp Template Beautiful Star Flower Round Pattern M85 from Born Pretty Store. I was asked to review this plate and I love it! The design I used was what drew me to this plate. I love the circles.

Look how well it stamps! I used BarryM Foil Effects. And the lines are crisp and clean! A great plate for nail art!

Know what I love? Look how the stamp from Born Pretty, mimics the O in Orly! Bah! I love it!

I want to thank the Born Pretty Store for allowing me to review this stamping plate! I can't wait to use the other images!

33DC Day 4: Tribal and Born Pretty Store Nail Art Brush Review

Today is the Tribal prompt for the 33DC. And let me tell you I was not excited at all. I have failed in the past. But today I think I did a pretty darn good job! Wanna know my secret?

This Acrylic Nail Paint Drawing Brush Kit from Born Pretty Store! These brushes are pretty amazing. They come in little tubes that reminded me of knitting needles! :) They also have the little plastic tubes that are directly on the brush. But it's nice that if you lose that you still have the bigger tube to keep them protected!

I wanted to review this Acrylic Nail Paint Drawing Brush Kit because it comes with 4 brushes sizes: 0, 00, 000, 0000. The brushes are just the right size for me and they are good quality too. They are better than the ones I have used in the past that I got at another place. I really wanted some smaller detail brushes and none of those really long brushes. And these are perfect for me!

I used the 0 and the 00 to do this tribal design with the help of Nailed It NZ's tutorial. (I needed some inspiration!)

These brushes worked perfectly for me! I think I have my new favorite brush set for my nail art! I want to thank Born Pretty Store for allowing me to review these brushes!

The Polishes I used were: OPI Get in the Expresso Lane, China Glaze Kalahari Kiss, KleanColor Metallic Orange, Milani White on the Spot, and HK Girl Top Coat.

And guess what? Born Pretty Store has created a 10% off coupon code for my readers! Click on the coupon and check it out! They have a lot of amazing items for nail art!

And don't forget to check out the ladies and their Tribal manis!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Book Week - Little Golden Books

Day 3 of The Digit-al Dozen Does Book Week. And today I have my childhood summed up in one mani: Little Golden Books. Do you remember those books? The gold flashy spines?

I loved these books growing up and thought I would try and recreate it using Barry M Gold Foil, Konad Black Pearl, and a Born Pretty plate M73. I loved how it turned out! I think it does it justice! :)

This was one of my favorite Little Golden Books!

Don't forget to check out the other ladies and their books of the day!

Born Pretty Store Easy Stretch Bling Crystal Extensible Ring for Finger & Toe Ring Review

I have another review from Born Pretty Store. This time it is the beautiful Easy Stretch Bling Crystal Extensible Ring for Finger & Toe Ring. They sent me this along with my stamping plate. How awesome! :) I don't really have many stretch rings to compare this to but I really liked this one. It was simple but elegant at the same time. And that's what I love! :) Oh and super shiny too!

Just to show that it is stretchy I put it on my middle finger and look, it didn't even separate all out. It still held it's shape nicely! It says in the description that you could even put it on your toes! Well, I did put it on my toes but since I hate feet there are no pictures of that! :) But it did fit nicely! :)

The Easy Stretch Bling Crystal Extensible Ring for Finger & Toe Ring is suitable for just about everyone and at only $1.39 for a ring why not get a few (the more you buy the cheaper they are!).

I would like to thank Daisy and the Born Pretty Store for this opportunity!

If you would like to order this ring, you can get it for $1.39, or other awesome products from Born Pretty Store, use the code below to save 10%!

Born Pretty Store Nail Art Stamp Template CK-06 Review

I was contacted by Daisy over at Born Pretty Store to review one of their products. I chose one of their larger stamping plates because I've always wanted to try a larger plate! :) So I chose Nail Art Stamp Template CK-06. I purposely chose a plate that didn't have full nail images because I didn't want to worry about whether they would fit my nails. But these are images are the perfect size for my nails! :)

So here are four images from the Nail Art Stamp Template CK-06. (Please excuse my re-used mani from Tuesday!) See, these are perfect for my nails. In fact, the peacock (on my middle finger) goes onto my cuticle, so these images would be great for those with larger nails too! Perhaps I should have tilted it to get it fully on? But look how great they stamp! Granted, I messed up on the white feather on my index finger. I stamped using Konad White and Black.

Just to show you that it was me with the feather check it out, bottom left corner. See, perfect feather! :) This is using Konad Black on paper. If you look carefully (don't have to really search because I circled them) you can see some doubles. Also the starred ones may look doubled but they are opposites along with a few others. All in all the images stamped really well. You can tell when I messed up because I re-stamped the image (see weird swirl on top and big leaf second to bottom row). Only had major issues with those two, but they re-stamped perfectly!

Sorry that the plate looks a bit scuzzy. Didn't have a chance to clean it properly after using it, but I wanted to show it it's size in relation to a bottle of Konad polish.

So how would I rate this? 9.5 out of 10. A few images don't always stamp well, but most do and are fabulous! I love this plate and I'm excited to use the images in my nail art! And a bonus, I finally have a full peacock image! :)

I would like to thank Daisy and the Born Pretty Store for this opportunity!

If you would like to order this plate, you can get it for $8.53, or other awesome products from Born Pretty Store, use the code below to save 10%!
