The Digit-al Dozen Does Fairytales: Rumplestilskin

Day two of The Digit-al Dozen Does Fairytales and today I have Rumplestilskin. This is the story about the little imp who can spin straw into gold. (see what I did there?)

Still in nubbin-land and used Color Club Tribe and True (two coats) as my base. I chose this color because Rumplestilskin on Once Upon a Time has a bit of a green tinge to his face. I think used gold striping tape and bristles that I cut off a brush. I used Poshe Top Coat to hold the "straw" in place.

Not very detailed, in my mind it was totally more detailed. :) But I still like the outcome!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Winter Wonderland: Holiday Stripes or Daleks?

Another day of The Digit-al Dozen Does Winter Wonderland and today I have a tape mani in holiday colors or are they holiday Daleks? Hmmmmm.......

I was inspired to create these when I saw Bad Girl Nails do these in blue. I think they are perfect for the holidays!

I used Orly Mirrorball as my base (two colors). How amazing is this polish! I then used China Glaze Red-Y & Willing and Models Own Golden Green. I used Poshe to help hold the rhinestones in place!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Countries and Cultures Week - Scotland

Day 3 of The Digit-al Dozen Does Countries and Cultures Week and today I take you to the highlands of Scotland! Ach! If I could travel any where, Scotland is one place that I would love to visit! I always have, and I always will. (see what I did there? Oh I hope someone does!)

I created the Scottish Flag using Milani White on the Spot as my base (and the base for all the nails) and taped off the Saint Andrew's Cross and painted China Glaze First Mate. For my ring finger I created the national flower of Scotland, a thistle! I used KleanColor Metallic Purple and Metallic Green and Bundle Monster BM 313. For my pinkie I, of course, had to represent the national animal, a unicorn! How awesome is that! I stamped using Barry M Foil Effects Silver and  Winstonia W117. (had to make the unicorn sparkly, it's magical!). I used HK Girl Top Coat to seal the entire mani.

I hope my fellow Scottish readers will like what I did!

And because I can (the pipe band for my marching band in high school always played this song!):

The Digit-al Dozen Does Metal Week: "Steeling" a Mani from a Friend!

Day 4 of Metals Week for The Digit-al Dozen. Today I attempted to re-create a mani by Missy over at Gnarly Gnails! (turns out hers is a re-creation too!)

Started out with Catrice Steel My Soul (see what I did there? Steel.....metal....). I then attempted the tape mani portion (and failed big time!). I used Catrice Steel My Heart (another one, steel.....metal.... get it?) and followed with L'Oreal Owl's Night. I sealed it with Poshe Top Coat. I don't believe I did this mani of Missy's justice. But really, can anyone recreate one of her great masterpieces successfully?

In this one you can see more of the contrast (lack thereof?) of Owl's Night (brown/gold on tips) and Steel My Heart (darker purple in the middle).

The tape mani has won again. Grrr! Curse you tape manis! I'll get you next time!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Monochromatic Week: Green Stripes

Day 4 of The Digit-al Dozen Does Monochromatic Week but it is also a GOT Polish Challenge Day: Stripes! So I decided to do green mono stripes! And I am pretty happy with the way these turned out! Yep another tape mani for the win!

I started out with Finger Paints Sexy Sundress as my base. I then put two pieces of striping tape on the nail and proceeded to use my dotting tool to fill in the lines! On the three nails (accent nail is reverse order) it goes: Nubar Reclaim, China Glaze It's Alive, A England Dragon, and China Glaze Westside Warrior. All topped with HK Girl Top Coat.

For the GOT Polish Challenge, each polish has to be a year old and haven't been used in the past year. Some of these (It's Alive) are way older than a year!
I definitely like this design, a bit time consuming but I can see myself doing it again!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Monochromatic Week: Blues

Ah Day 3, brings us monochromatic blues! Some of you may have seen this mani on my IG. Because I wore them to an amazing blogger/IG'er meetup! My first ever! I was so nervous and excited and yep!

This is the same type of tape mani I did last week, but I knew I had to do it again this week! I started with China Glaze Electric Beat as my base. I then taped off an X and used China Glaze First Mate (darker) and Sally Hansen Deep Blue Sea. Topped it off with HK Girl Top Coat!

I really loved how this turned out. And guess what, I did both hands! Shocker I know! My right hand gets neglected but not this time, not when I am going to a meet up, can't just have one hand done! Hahahaha!

So here is my IG shot of all our blue manis! I am dead center bottom. My sister is to the right of my (overlaping my hand). Yes, I made my wonderful sister go with me. My anxiety has made it impossible for me to drive far and this was an hour away. So she said she would be my driving buddy so I could go! Isn't she the bestest! :)

This is from BeginNails IG account. Here we are trying to figure out a polish name game. Super fun! Our table, me, my sister, and Sarah from Chalkboard Nails came in 2nd at 14 points. Grrr! Look my head!

Here, Kristi from BeginNails takes a picture of us all instagramming the group nail shot! :) My mustard cardi! See you can see my right hand has polish on it! Crazy!

Here is a collage of all the blue nails for the #azmetup1 that @freakytikigirl created! Isn't this awesome!

I had so much fun and can't wait to do it again! Meet so many awesome ladies! Thank you!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Monochromatic Week: Purples

Day two of Monochromatic week brings us purples! And since it is Technique Tuesday I thought I would try a new technique: Nailside's Tutorial: Explosion Design Tape Mani.

Can I just say, she makes this look so easy placing those darn triangle cut tape pieces on the nail. Pfft! Don't know if my are explosions but they are still pretty neat! :)

I used OPI Funky Dunkey as my base, China Glaze Urban-Night (dark one), and OPI Planks A Lot. Topped off with NYC In A New York Minute top coat.

I'm definitely going to have to try this technique again......much later, kinda was a little frustrating! Hahaha! :)

The Lazy Blogger's 31DC: Tutorial - Tape Mani Cross.

Today's Lazy Blogger 31 Day Challenge prompt is a tutorial. I have a whole bunch to choose from but I chose to do a cross mani, it's the closest I've come to a tape mani argyle. But I love how this turned out and the fact that is a tape mani that worked!

http://pshiiit.com/2013/01/14/tuto-nail-art-facile-nail-art-aux-couleurs-de-printemps/

I've had this pinned for like ever and I'm so happy that I finally did it! It was easy and I can't wait to do it again! The tutorial is from Pshiiit.com

For my colors I used China Glaze Kalahari Kiss as my base with China Glaze Ingrid and China Glaze Budding Romance. I just love these colors together!

What do you think?

Day 2 of The Digit-al Dozen Does Red, Gold, and Green, and guess what I voluntarily chose to do....a friggin' tape mani! And for once in my nail art lifetime it worked! Wahoo! :)

I stared with Sally Hansen Emerald City, then Nails Inc Chelsea Embankment, followed by China Glaze Red-y and Willing. And of course, topped off with HK Girl Top Coat.

Yep, a third photo because I'm so happy this work out! :)

33DC Day 3: Tape Mani

Ah, tape mani, so we meet again. Grrrr! Today's prompt for The Crumpet's Nail Tart's 33DC is tape mani, my nemesis. But thankfully today's worked out well! If I do say so my self.

Shhhh! I reused a mani! This is my watercolor for the art prompt of The Digit-al Dozen Does It Again Art!

So my base is: two coats of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls. I then used OPI Fly, China Glaze Budding Romance, China Glaze Make Some Noise, and finally OPI Funky Dunkey. All topped with HK Girl Top Coat. Click the above link if you would like to see the watercolor before the tape mani!

Don't the colors match my blog wonderfully! :)

I then used stripping tape and OPI What Wizardry Is This? I love using textures in tape manis. Less dry time! Just look how the watercolor makes the camera wig out with the focus. The softness of the watercolor and the harsh lines of the tape mani are very interesting!

The Digit-al Dozen Does It Again: Tape and OMG Nail Strips Review

It's day 11 of The Digit-al Dozen Does It Again and today it's tape mani! Curses tape mani, we meet again! But today I have something that helped out a lot! OMG Nail Strips!

I was sent two different patterns to review for them (tomorrow you get to see the other one!) And can I just say they are excellent!

"OMG nail strips challenges everything you thought you knew about nail polish strips. They differ from real nail polish or cheap nail stickers because of their form fitting qualities and unique resistance to chipping, tearing and wrinkling.  They also dry instantly upon application." -source

Dry instantly? One of my pet peeves with tape manis is the dry time.

Light bulb!

First I applied the Speckle strips following the directions on the back of the packaging. Super easy to apply and they look great! I used a normal top coat as I read that a fast dry could cause some issues with wrinkling. As you can see on my index nail I filed a little too much excess off, but even with nubbins these strips look great!

Next I applied some nail stickers, make sure you take some of the stickiness off before applying to the nail strips or you can have a bit of damage like you see on my index nail. I tried a few different designs using Sally Hansen Mint Sprint. I think I am loving the french tip on my pinkie the most!

I think these strips worked out great! Made doing my nails easier and cut down the time! Anything that does that in my book is fabulous!

Have you tried them yet?

You can check them out on their website OMG Nail Strips or on their Facebook page for more ideas!

These items were sent to me for review and my honest opinion.

ABC: B is for OPI Berlin There Done That and Essence Break Through

What's this? Another tape mani so soon after The Digit-al Dozen Does Tape Manis? Yep, I was in the groove with doing them and found it isn't so scary......as long as I stay away from the smaller intricate designs! :)

For the letter B I chose two different B named polishes added to more onto my tired list! This is two coats of OPI Berlin There Done That and one thicker coat of Essence Break Through.

I used one of my thicker chevron nail stickers to create the design. I also had the help of HK Girl Top Coat. And I must say that I really loved this design. Very simple but with a graphic quality!

Untried Polish Challenge: Cheapest AND The Digit-al Dozen Does Tape Manis

Final day of The Digit-al Dozen Does Tape Manis. Phew! I made it! Didn't think I would! ;) I also did the easiest tape mani ever today! That's alright, I love it!

Also today is Untried Polish Challenge: Cheapest. Both of the polish I used are untried but the glitter is the cheapest. It is Hit Polish Nail Lacquer: Like, Gag Me with Glitter! This is my cheapest because I won it! Yep. Hit Polish Nail Lacquer was having a name that polish contest and my name for the polish was chosen! Thank you Hit Polish Lacquer!

This is my base, Joe Fresh Teal. A few Canada trips ago I bought a few Joe Fresh polishes and haven't used them yet. And this one is gorgeous! A shimmer too!

And here is Hit Polish Nail Lacquer: Like, Gag Me with Glitter! It reminded me of the '80s and Valley girls! Hit Polish Nail Lacquer has such amazing polishes! Just look at that glitter! So purdy!

And of course I topped it all off with HK Girl Top Coat! So shiny!

Well, it's Friday so you know what that means. Yep, today was a TGIF: Thank Goodness, Indy Indie Friday!
