Doctor Who Inspired Mani

And cue music: weringgrrgrr BADUMBADUMBADUM Dun Duuun Dun Duun OOOWEEOOOOO OOOWWEEOOOOO WEOOOO OOO DUNN DUNN DUN DUUUN OOOWEOOOO OOO OWEOOOO OOOHH OHHHH DUN DUN DUN WAYOWOOOOOOO

My sister and I have this new obsession. Doctor Who. So, for Halloween I decided to be the Tenth Doctor. (dressed up for Trunk or Treat and will be dressing up tomorrow night too!) and she decided to be the Eleventh Doctor! So of course I had to do our nails! :) Abstractly, of course!

I used Cult Nails Time Traveler as my base on three of my nails. This is one coat and applied wonderfully! I then used Pure Ice Platinum Magic Base Coat to make my Tardis windows and sign. I used IsaDora Bronze Patina for the base of my Dalek accent nail. I then dotted using Essie Good As Gold and then Catrice Browno Mars. Abstract but if you are a Whovian then you will recognize them! :)

These are my sister's nails. She said I couldn't do nail art on her nails because they were too short. I scoffed at her! :) I used Pure Ice Platinum Magic Base Coat (2 coats) on her index and ring finger. To create the bow tie and fez (I wear a fez now, fezzes are cool) I mixed Zoya Sooki and Catrice Lost in Mud. I then used Essie Good As Gold for the tassel. I know, I know. There shouldn't be a tassel but it needed something else. I used Cult Nails Time Traveler as the base for her other nails with Pure Ice Platinum Magic Base Coat for the Tardis.

I really loved how these two manis turned out! So much fun!

Oh? You want to see our costumes? OK! :) **Warning, a bit picture heavy!**

Me, as the Tenth Doctor, my sister as the Eleventh Doctor, and my nephew as the Tardis! Bah! I love it!

Full costume. Sonic screwdriver and all! (Er, how about a flashlight with Bundle Monster stamp plate blue plastic taped over it!). Oh and I am carrying my trench (because he wears a trench coat!)

Um.......yep. This is me trying to be silly and Doctor-like. See first photo with my sister and my goofy smile!

This is my favorite! :)

These are some references for our costumes!

Hair reference and glasses!

And the big goofy grin! :) I hope you enjoyed my little homage to Doctor Who! :)

Dupes? L'Oreal Brit Invasion, L'Oreal Owl's Night, and IsaDora Bronze Patina

Look at them all lined up in a row, L'Oreal Brit Invasion, L'Oreal Owl's Night, and IsaDora Bronze Patina, making you think they are the same. Are they? Aren't they? What about in real life and not a computer screen? Why oh why with all the questions? >_<

I thought I would try this comparison because when I was searching for swatches of L'Oreal's Brit Invasion some images showed up looking a ton like the other polish Owl's Night. Hmmmm, said I, I will end this a do a comparison dupe post! Great idea, said I, but don't forget a beautiful polish that was sent to you across the great big blue ocean that is also similar.

Well, here it goes!

One coat of each polish. Left to right is: L'Oreal Brit Invasion, L'Oreal Owl's Night, IsaDora Bronze Patina, and L'Oreal Brit Invasion again. One coat and kinda streaky for our wonderful Brit Invasion. And well, hello there totally different base color. Yep. L'Oreal Brit Invasion is NOT a dupe for either L'Oreal Owl's Night or IsaDora Bronze Patina. Brit Invasion is more of a taupey purplely base while Owl's Night is a brown as with Bronze Patina. And check out Owl's Night and Bronze Patina, identical? Sisters? Cousins? Hmmmmm...... must investigate this further.

Well hello gorgeous! Such a fun skittle or maybe an M&M? Hahaha! Ah, polish humor! ;) This is now two coats of each polish. Left to right again: L'Oreal Brit Invasion, L'Oreal Owl's Night, IsaDora Bronze Patina, and L'Oreal Brit Invasion again. Brit Invasion is still totally different from the other two. All are shimmers, with Owl's Night being a chunky shimmer than the other two. But look how alike Owl's Night (middle finger) and Bronze Patina (ringer finger) are! Pretty dang close!

A straight on shot shows how much of a chunky shimmer L'Oreal's Owl's Night (middle finger) is than the rest. Also, Owl's Night seems to turn a bit green in some lights while Bronze Patina takes on more reds and purples almost.

As you can tell, you are safe to buy L'Oreal Brit Invasion if you already have L'Oreal Owl's Night or IsaDora Bronze Patina or vice versa. However, do you need both Owl's Night and Bronze Patina? Well, that would depend on what type of polish fiend you are. :) I would say that they are close enough to take the place of the other but they are not identical. They will satisfy the craving! :)

But also take into account IsaDora's brush, I mean look at this:

Yep. Could also polish my whole nail in one swoop! :) Wide brush indeed!

Both L'Oreal's Owl's Night and IsaDora's Bronze Patina were great to apply only a bit of splotchy in one coat while L'Oreal's Brit Invasion was more splotchy.

Well, what do you think? Which is your favorite? Do you own any? Or all?

Nail Mail Packages 5 and 6!

Remember this pile of packages? Well, it's time to reveal packages 5 and 6! Woot! Woot! Let's start with the white envelope in the upper right corner.

This is a swap from Anne Catherine from the PAA group on facebook. She mentioned that she had one of the H&M Bambi polishes available so I snatched it up! We agreed to add another polish and she picked out this amazing IsaDora polish called Bronze Patina, it's gorgeous! She also sent me a postcard and some yummy candy one is Hello Kitty! :) I'm so excited! Thank you so much! Love it all!

The next and final package is the white US parcel box.

This is from Shalon at The Polished Pixie. We are both in this group where we swap with a different girl each month! This is the first month we've done the swap. Look at the goodies she sent! She sent me yummy candy, all of it is gone now! She also sent me this stinkin' adorable owl key fob (is that what it's called?). Love it! The label lists One of Everything (an etsy store) as who made it. The polishes she sent me, (all were on my wishlist!) are (l-r, top row) Kleancolors Holo Chrome, Metallic Orange, Metallic Fuschia, and Metallic Black. Aren't the minis stinking adorable!? Kleancolors are amazing to stamp with! But they are super stinky!

The bottom row of polishes are all from Dollish Polish. These are my first Dollish Polishes! These are called Fire In The Night Sky: Aurora Australis, Northern Lights, and Aurora Borealis. These three polishes are all special effects top coats. Aurora Australis flashes orange to pink, Northern Lights flashes green to gold, and Aurora Borealis flashes blue to purple. I'm so excited to use these! Thank you so much Shalon!
