The Digit-al Dozen Does Countries and Cultures Week - Scotland

Day 3 of The Digit-al Dozen Does Countries and Cultures Week and today I take you to the highlands of Scotland! Ach! If I could travel any where, Scotland is one place that I would love to visit! I always have, and I always will. (see what I did there? Oh I hope someone does!)

I created the Scottish Flag using Milani White on the Spot as my base (and the base for all the nails) and taped off the Saint Andrew's Cross and painted China Glaze First Mate. For my ring finger I created the national flower of Scotland, a thistle! I used KleanColor Metallic Purple and Metallic Green and Bundle Monster BM 313. For my pinkie I, of course, had to represent the national animal, a unicorn! How awesome is that! I stamped using Barry M Foil Effects Silver and  Winstonia W117. (had to make the unicorn sparkly, it's magical!). I used HK Girl Top Coat to seal the entire mani.

I hope my fellow Scottish readers will like what I did!

And because I can (the pipe band for my marching band in high school always played this song!):

Just Glue Some Gears On It (and Call it Steampunk): The Neverending Pile Challenge and The Nail Challenge Collaborative

Another day of combing two challenges! Again it is The Neverending Pile Challenge (Boutique Polish) and The Nail Challenge Collaborative (Post 2 of Movies/Music/TV).

I started off with my untried boutique polish Illamasqua Radium (two coats). Boutique polish had a lot of different definitions. I chose to follow the definition of higher end polish found in only a few shops. I got this from Sephora when they were clearancing them to $7! I really love this color and the formula was fabulous!

I stamped using BM-415(gears) and MoYou Sci-Fi 02 (Owl). I used KleanColor Metallic Brown. Holy crud, do you know how long it took me to do this mani? The stamping took forever! Over a half an hour! Stupid KleanColor! I thought it would work since it's a metallic and my others work like a charm. Um, nope! But I really wanted the metallic sheen to it. Should have gone with my Essie metallics. Oh well. I added four dots under the owl because I had positioned him too high and there was no way I was redoing it! Hahahaha! I topped it off with HK Girl Top Coat.

So how does tie into The Nail Challenge Collaborative? How about a song called: Just Glue Some Gears On It (and Call it Steampunk). A hilarious Steampunk song about just because you've put gears on it, that doesn't make it Steampunk. I can admit of being guilty of this! :)

Don't forget to check out the other boutique polishes!

And don't forget to see what the others chose for their day 2 Movies/Music/TV posts!

Nail-Art-A-Go-Go Challenge Day 3: Warm vs Cool

For the warm vs cool prompt for the challenge I decided to do a gradient. I really love how this turned out.

The colors I used are: Zoya Sooki, Sally Hansen Crushed, Finger Paints Art Nouv-Yellow, China Glaze Def Defying, China Glaze Electric Beat, and China Glaze Gothic Lolita.

I then stamped over it with KleanColor Metallic Jungle and Metallic Pink using MoYou Sailor 03. I topped it off with NYC in a New York Minute Top Coat. But I wanted to see what it looked like matte.

And this was the final version after two coats of NYC Matte Me Crazy and one coat of Orly Matte Top. Didn't go as matte as I wanted but I still like the softening of the gradient, especially on my ring finger.

Nail-Art-A-Go-Go Challenge Day 2: Jewel Tones

The prompt is Jewel Tones so I chose to make my nails into jewels that have a star burst in the center. It's a really simple but elegant mani. This shows it without top coat.

I started with two coats of KleanColor Metallic Purple. I then stamped using KleanColor Metallic Fuschia, using an Essence stamping plate. Added NYC In a New York Minute top coat! There you go, jeweled nails.

The Lazy Blogger's 31DC: Inspired by a Pattern

"Say hello, to my little friends!" Bah super nubbin time! Horrible winter has wreck my nails. Well, let's look at it this way: new year = new nails! Starting over! :)

Today also starts The Lazy Blogger's 31 Day Challenge. Emma from Manicurity and I have done the 31 Day challenge twice before together! Last time we cut it down some. And now we really chopped it up! Hahahaha!

Today is Inspired by a Pattern:

I was inspired by this pattern from MoYou plate 4 from the Sailor Collection. I used OPI Dutch 'Ya Just Love OPI as my base and stamped using KleanColor Metallic Purple.

I am loving how subtle the stamping is! And look! Nail art on nubbins! Whoo-hooo! :)

33DC Day 4: Tribal and Born Pretty Store Nail Art Brush Review

Today is the Tribal prompt for the 33DC. And let me tell you I was not excited at all. I have failed in the past. But today I think I did a pretty darn good job! Wanna know my secret?

This Acrylic Nail Paint Drawing Brush Kit from Born Pretty Store! These brushes are pretty amazing. They come in little tubes that reminded me of knitting needles! :) They also have the little plastic tubes that are directly on the brush. But it's nice that if you lose that you still have the bigger tube to keep them protected!

I wanted to review this Acrylic Nail Paint Drawing Brush Kit because it comes with 4 brushes sizes: 0, 00, 000, 0000. The brushes are just the right size for me and they are good quality too. They are better than the ones I have used in the past that I got at another place. I really wanted some smaller detail brushes and none of those really long brushes. And these are perfect for me!

I used the 0 and the 00 to do this tribal design with the help of Nailed It NZ's tutorial. (I needed some inspiration!)

These brushes worked perfectly for me! I think I have my new favorite brush set for my nail art! I want to thank Born Pretty Store for allowing me to review these brushes!

The Polishes I used were: OPI Get in the Expresso Lane, China Glaze Kalahari Kiss, KleanColor Metallic Orange, Milani White on the Spot, and HK Girl Top Coat.

And guess what? Born Pretty Store has created a 10% off coupon code for my readers! Click on the coupon and check it out! They have a lot of amazing items for nail art!

And don't forget to check out the ladies and their Tribal manis!

Haul Post

Today is a haul post! I haven't done one in awhile and I got some really nice polishes that I had to share! :)

Bring on the Catrice! I got these from Jewli at Fanning the Fumes! Thank you Jewli! I love them all! (l-r) The Effect Maker, In The Armee Glow, Lilactric, and Petropolitan.

More Catrice from Jewli! (l-r) Mint Me Up, Purple Reign, The Monkey Gets Funky, and Squeeze Me.

Some clearance Milanis from Target! (l-r) Fresh Teal, Totally 80s, Pink Hottie, Rapid Orchid, and Violet Dash. Some of these are awesome for stamping and others are pretty sheer but will make interesting jelly sandwiches!

And finally I have these three! KleanColor Fashionista is a gorgeous poop color! Hahaha! I got the Color Club London Calling in my Birchbox. And the Nailtini in Mai Tai I got from my first Ipsy bag! Never tried Nailtini before! :)

Have you done any good hauls lately?

ABC: F is Orly Fowl Play, KleanColor Fashionista, and China Glaze Fairy Dust and a FAIL!

Today is brought to you by the letter F: Orly Fowl Play, KleanColor Fashionista, and China Glaze Fairy Dust. F is also for FAIL! Hahahaha! I attempted a saran wrap mani........totally chose the wrong colors! I used China Glaze Fairy Dust to help camouflage it! :)

Started with Orly Fowl Play. So pretty! Look at all those flakies! Looks like a melted grape popsicle on my fingers! This is where I should have ended the mani. Nope, I was feeling like trying something new. Bah!

Here you can sort of see the saran wrap mani effect. I should have chosen better colors. As much as I love KleanColor Fashionista (love baby poop greens!) it doesn't look nice on your fingers and cuticles when it doesn't come straight off with acetone cleanup! Hahahaha! I was able to get most of it off but for a while....ew! :)

I really do want to try this technique again, but I will try to have at least one bright color. I think that is why this failed, they were too dark. Put that one into the book to remember what not to do! :)

ABC: C is for KleanColor Coffee Addict and Rainbow Polish Chewie

C is for cookie that's good enough for me. Oh um, wait nope, not what C stands for today. But now that's in you head right? Today's polishes totally made my camera go crazy and not focus properly.

I started out with one coat of KleanColor Coffee Addict. Gorgeous color and lovely formula! I then did one thicker coat of Rainbow Polish Chewie. This polish is from the Star Set 2 and is inspired by Chewbacca, everyone's favorite Wookie!
Also used HK Girl Top Coat!

A quick swatch to show you Chewie on a white background. I love this polish! And Rainbow Polish's formula is always perfect!

Indie Month Day 11 and The Digit-al Dozen Does Geek - Cult TV Mash Up!

Welcome to another fabulous week of The Digit-al Dozen! This week it is Geek themed! Yes! I got to pick the theme and there were many many groans. But tough ladies! This week is going to be so epic it's ridiculous! Everyone's manis are going to be great!

So let's start off with some polishes shall we? These are all one coat each. (l-r) NerdLacquer Gorramit, NerdLacquer I Aim to Misbehave, Cult Nails Time Traveler, and Cult Nails Power Thief. Can you see what theme I'm going for here? Or is it still a bit vague?

Sorry for the slightly blurry nails. It would seem that the NerdLacquers are so fabulous that the camera can't even focus on them! But as you can see you could pretty much get away with just one coat of each of these polishes! But a second coat adds so much more depth and glory!

See the depth and glory? :) Two coats each. Such an interesting skittle no? What can she be doing you ask yourself. Well, the two NerdLacquers are both from the Serenity Trio (Shiny being the third). But the other two? Huh?

Boom! Ah-yeah! You get it now? A mash up of two epic cult TV shows! Boo-yah! Firefly (first two nails) and Doctor Who (last two nails)! I had to do both! My index finger has the first line of the Firefly theme song: "Take My Love....". My middle finger is (suppose to be) the logo from the ship Serenity. My ring finger is a T.A.R.D.I.S. and my pinkie is the Doctor Who theme song! Blam!

Polishes used:
Index: NerdLacquer Gorramit and a black Sharpie.
Middle: NerdLacquer I Aim to Misbehave, Jessica Pumpkin Delight, KleanColor Metallic Yellow, and Catrice Lost in Mud.
Ring: Cult Nails Time Traveler and Milani White on the Spot.
Pinkie: Cult Nails Power Thief and a black Sharpie.

These Indies all applied perfectly without any problems!

All of these four Indies are unique to my collection. Cult Nails Power Thief might have some close dupes maybe more like relatives but nothing with that much shimmer!

Owl Week: Geeky Owl

Day 4 of Owl Week in celebration of my birthday week! I love doing this type of owl mani! Super easy and very fun!

I used reinforcements to create the non-polised space. The body of the owl is L'Oreal Owl's Night, so are his belly spots. The belly is Orly Nite Owl. The geeky glasses are China Glaze Def Defying. I used KleanColor Metallic Mango for his beak, Wet N' Wild Black Creme and Milani White on the Spot for his eyes.

Stay tuned for my Indie Month post in a few hours. :)
