The Digit-al Dozen Does Metal Week: Sheet Metal inspired by Missy from Gnarly Gnails

Day 5, final day of Metal Week for The Digit-al Dozen. Also, for some of us, a tribute day for an amazing woman. This woman has been there from the beginning. She is the face behind the graphics that we use for The Digit-al Dozen, the face behind my blog layout/graphics, she is the face of a very best polish friend of mine. This wonderful amazing talented woman is Missy from Gnarly Gnails

She is such a gracious fabulous person. I've known Missy for awhile now and she continues to blow me away with each new mani. Her take on themes are uniquely her own! I love the way she thinks outside the box and pushes the boundaries of said box.

Sadly, she has left The Digit-al Dozen, for now; I am hoping not for good. A little piece of my heart broke when she told us. But life unfortunately happens (doesn't life know that polish comes first and foremost?). She is still blogging, she just needed to scale back on some items. But so help me, if I ever get to Georgia..............watch out Missy! I'm coming to get ya! :)

Today I "attempted" (and I use that word loosely) her fabulous sheet metal mani from Texture Week. Mine look like metallic tumors! Bleh! Oh, and this is the second attempt! Say what? Yep, I actually totally did this mani a few days previous and wow did it suck worse, so you get this one!

I used Milani Shady Gray Texture Polish (two layers) to create the tumors bumps. After it dried I sealed it with Posh Top Coat. Then I used a thin coat of Nail Savvy Chrome followed by Poshe Top Coat. I don't know how Missy does it. Her manis are always so perfect, flawless, and unique! I love her to death and will miss seeing her every month with the themes! But I can still stalk bug her on her blog until she returns! Muwah!

Don't forget get to check out the other Day 5 manis!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Skittles Week and 33DC Day 11: 3D

Continuing with The Digit-al Dozen's Skittle Week and adding the 33DC 3D prompt I did this. I honestly don't have that many 3D items to use in my nail art. Just rhinestones. And I don't use them that often because they never stay on very long for me! :) But they sure are pretty!

I used OPI Fly, Barry M Foil Effects, Finger Paints Flip Flop Fuchsia, and Nail Savvy Chrome (each two coats). I then added a coat of HK Girl Top Coat and added the stones to the still wet top coat. I then took a brush and painted lines using the same polishes.

Fun and simple, I thought! I hope you like it!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Music - Music Devices Through the Years

It's November! And you know what that means? Yep! Another installment of The Digit-al Dozen! This month our topic is music! Music is such a great inspiration! I had a lot of fun coming up with some ideas. So here we go!

This mani represents 4 devices used through the years to play music.

First we have the good old record (I promise it's not a scary demon eye!). I remember going through my mom's record collection when I was young and listening to the Beatles, The Mamas and The Papas, and many musicals. But I think my favorite record growing up was Little Red Caboose. Loved this record! To this day I still sing Little Red Caboose and Rag Mop!

My middle finger represents a cassette tape (I also promise it is not a robot or a face!). Man I loved my collection of tapes! I had all of The New Kids on the Block tapes! Oh baby! ;) And creating mix tapes! Oh yeah, I was queen!

My ring finger represents the golden age of compact discs or CDs. I know, I know, we still use them today.  But I remember my first CD I ever bought: The Cranberries To the Faithful Departed. Still have the CD and still listen to it! :)

And finally my pinky finger is an iPod. My first iPod was a Nano 2nd generation. I thought it was the coolest thing ever! Mine was green. :)

Specs:
Index: Pure Ice Platinum Magic Base Coat, Finger Paints Black Expressionism, and Zoya Sooki.

Middle: Leighton Denny Berry Nice, Finger Paints Black Expressionism, and Pure Ice Platinum Magic Base Coat.
Ring: Pure Ice Platinum Magic Base Coat and Nail Savvy Chrome.
Pinky: China Glaze Cha Cha Cha, Finger Paints Black Expressionism, and Pure Ice Platinum Magic Base Coat.

Teal Tuesdays - Mani Swap

This week's tealicure is a Mani Swap with another member of Teal Tuesdays! We were partnered up by Missy and then we needed to look through our partner's blog and find a mani and re-create it using teal! All the while keeping it a secret on who we got! :)

I loved this idea a lot! I looked through my partner's blog and deciding what to do. I came across some nail art that I have been meaning to try. So I completed it and then looked at our facebook page and saw that she had done the same design (different colors and this time actually for Teal Tuesdays) again! Hahaha! Love it! It was meant to be! :)

So, here is my tealicure for today!

It is cloud art. Super fun and super easy! Who was my partner? Drumroll.................Once Upon a Polish!

This is the mani that I chose to re-create (please click on the image to be sent to her post!). I love the colors that she chose to use! She talked about using silver in the clouds as her silver lining! Love it! That's why I added silver in mine!

And then this is the most recent cloud mani she did (please click on the image to be sent to her post!)! I thought it was funny that did it again just as I finished mine! Granted she posted this before I finished but I never saw it! :)

For my cloud tealicure I used OPI Fly as the base with Nail Savvy Chrome (stinks to high heaven!) and then Catrice Dirty Berry. I also have a coat of HK Girl Top Coat.

Have you tried the cloud mani before?

Teal Tuesdays was started because teal is unloved and needed its own day of celebration!
Teal is a medium to dark bluish green color of low saturation; a dark cyan.
Open to interpretation, anything green with a hint of blue or blue with a hint of green is welcome here!
Aqua, Turquoise,Tiffany Blue, etc etc...all are welcome - we do not discriminate!

31 Day Challenge: Day 23, Inspired by a Movie

Inspired by a movie! I was actually excited for this one! This my take on the movie Serenity (with a little Firefly thrown in!) This is my favorite movie! What's not to love: spaceships, humor, Joss Whedon, Nathan Fillion, Alan Tudyk, and Adam Baldwin! Yes please! If you haven't seen this movie, you need too!

Here's a little trailer for you!

Now on to the nails!

This is the Serenity logo. Mine, I guess, is loosely based! I used Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Black Out for the Base. Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Crushed mixed with Finger Paints Artist's Inspiration for the orange. Finger Paints Art Nouv-Yellow mixed with SH Crushed for the yellow. My writing is done in FP Artist's Inspiration.

On the left is the planet Miranda that they find in the movie. I used Orly Androgynie as the base. I mixed Sall Hansen Xtreme Wear Blizzard Blue, Wet Cement, and Going Green for the Planet with the land being China Glaze Westside Warrior.

On the right is my homage to the TV show Firefly which Serenity is based off. There is a part where Wash (the pilot) is playing with dinosaurs and says: "curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal". I used Sally Hansen Wet Cement as the base and China Glaze Concrete Catwalk as the dinos.
And below is the clip of the dinos!

Left is a leaf. In the movie, Wash says that he a "I'm a leaf on the wind, watch how I soar". The base is Finger Paints Artist's Impression. The leaf is made up of China Glaze Westside Warrior and Orly It's Not Rocket Science.

The last finger is my Shiny! Kaylee, the ship's mechanic always says that everything is Shiny, as in ok or alright. I used Savvy Chrome for my base with China Glaze Techno and Color Club Platinum Record.

I really liked doing this challenge! I hope you had fun looking at it. 31 Day Challenge: Day 8, Metallic Nails

Metallics! Yes! I can use one of my favorite polishes! This is Chrome by Nail Savvy. I have had this polish the longest out of all my polishes, about 8 years. I love it. It was one of the first polishes  I could really use and not make a mess. But it stinks to high heaven! :) I used two coats, one would be fine, but I wanted to get rid of the brush lines.

What's this? Another shatter after yesterday's blunder? I decided to try another brand today. This is Fuchsia Shock by Sally Hansen. It went on much more smoothly than the OPI one. So smooth I didn't think it was going to work. But it did. And it didn't do too horribly. I think if I did all my nails with this pink shatter then it would be way too much. But it did nicely for the accent nail.

I also added a layer of Prisma Gloss Silver by Orly over the shatter. It was too dull, it needed sparkle!
