TGIF: Indie Holos!

I know that I've shown these before but I had a craving to wear them again. The base is two coats of Model City Dipping Chocolate. This is a gorgeous holo brown! Love it! I then did a french tip using Slick Lacquer A Wink and a Nod. A lovely nude holo! I added a little China Glaze Trendsetter heart for fun! Topped with HK Girl Top Coat.

What do you think?

GOT Polish and The Lazy Blogger's 31 DC: Dots and Fashion

Too many challenges! So yet again I combined them together. Dots are in fashion a lot. I had this idea in my head to do something a bit different. Well, it didn't quite work out as planned but it still follows all the rules of the two challenges!

These are my polka dot tights! Not, not legos, I promise! I used two coats of OPI My Pointe Exactly and two coats of Essence We Will Rock You. I then fished out the large round glitters from Lacquistry's Witches Warts. Topped off with HK Girl Top Coat and you have tights!

The Lazy Blogger's 31 DC: Recreate Something

Today's prompt was to recreate a mani. I chose to attempt Emma's Teeny Tiny Flowery Half-Moon Nails.

And I do mean attempt. Emma, from Manicurity has such gorgeous shaped nails that are long and graceful and work for a half-moon design. Mine, in their nub condition, not so much.

I used Ciate Chinchilla as my base, two coats. Never used this brand before and the formula is wonderful! I used OPI Wooden Shoe Like to Know as the branch. The flowers are made up of China Glaze Make Some Noise, China Glaze Trendsetter, Leighton Denny, and some China Glaze Kalahari Kiss. I used Milani White on the Spot and Zoya Bevin to make little poofs of flowers. I used HK Top Coat to finish is off.

So they are not as great as Emma's but they are still pretty cute and I am still loving the idea. Maybe when the nubs grow out a bit? :)

The Lacquer Legion: Reinvention! (I did two different ideas!)

So today's prompt comes from The Lacquer Legion. And it is Reinvention, a reinvention of a mani. I had a few thoughts on this and decided to actually do both of my ideas in one post. First up is my favorite. I like to think outside the box. Way out side the box.

Nail manis. Get it? On regular nails!
The first is a tape mani using Essence Bella and Zoya Stevie.

I used Leighton Denny as the base for my stamping of Sherlock with Konad Black and MoYou plate Tourist 01.

Next up is a classic french tip, using Essence Cafe Ole, Milani White on the Spot, Sinful Colors Fashionista glitter and a black heart accent.

Next up are roses on Essence Romeo base. The roses are OPI Dutch 'Ya Just Love OPI and Essence Oh My Glitter!, The leaves are China Glaze Starboard.

And finally we have a Heisenberg mani with Sally Hansen Lickety-Split Lime as a base with hat and glasses sticker decals from Fingrs. I use Finger Paints Black Expressionism for his mustache.

To prove that they are on nails! This was actually really quite fun! I topped them all off with HK Girl Top Coat.

My other idea was a Nail Mani.

Yep, those are nails on my fingers! I used Milani White on the Spot as my base and China Glaze Fairy Dust for added sparkle.

Needed to show it with a hammer right?

I hoped you liked my out of the box reinvention of a nail mani!

The Lazy Blogger's 31 DC: Black and White

Black and white. Honestly with the week I've been having I had no inspiration for this one. So I pulled out one of my lovely (got 6) MoYou plates that I won from The Crumpet's Giveaway a while back.

I chose the Sailor Collection, Plate 4. On three of my nails I painted OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls and on my accent nail I painted Finger Paints Black Expressionism. I then stamped using Konad Black on the three nails and Konad White on the other. I then fished out black and white glitters from All That Glitters: Spotty Dottie Light and Spotty Dottie Dark (two fabulous indie glitters) and put them onto the scales. I don't know. And then I used my top coat too soon (NYC in a New York Minute) and it smeared the stamping, even with a gloop and not brush touching nail.

Just showing you the image that I stamped.

So, not thrilled but oh well, life goes on! C'est la vie!

GOT Polish & The Lazy Blogger's 31 DC: Blue Book?

Two different challenges today. GOT Polish where we only use our golden oldie polishes that are a year old and the prompt is Blue. The Lazy Blogger's 31 DC prompt is Book. Ugh.

So someone made a comment (you know who you are! wink wink) that combining these to challenges doesn't really make me a lazy blogger. But I say it does! Kill a two birds with one stone! Boom! But it can be tricky trying to find inspiration with those two prompts.

Blue Book....seriously, I almost looked up what a Kelly's Blue Book looks like (it a guide for pricing used cars). But I thought I couldn't do that! Think think think. Nothing came to mind until I look up and saw a journal sitting there. And not just any journal......

How about River Song's journal! Yep, it is a blue book!

I mixed together Sally Hansen Blue Me Away with some China Glaze First Mate to create the base color. Then I used mixed them together again but used more First Mate and drew the squares. I used a bit of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls to add the distressed look. And topped it with Orly Matte Top.

So what do you think? Blue Book! :)

This is River Song's Journal but I can't show you what's inside because.....

The Lazy Blogger's 31 DC: Floral

Floral huh, they are a lot of different floral tutorials that I have been wanting to do. So the tutorial that I chose to do today I have been putting it off forever. It always looked so hard because the end results were always so beautiful. But, it is Technique Tuesday and a floral prompt, I had to give it a shot.

So I finally opened my folder with all my "to try" manis in it and search for the one by The Crumpet. I chose to use her tutorial on How To...Freehand Roses. Her roses are always just so gorgeous I was scared to try it!

Let me first tell you, Debbie, from The Crumpet, makes awesome tutorials, easy to follow. Because if I can do it, anyone can! So let's see the photo!

Look at that! Can you believe it! I couldn't! Even when I was creating them I thought they weren't turning out right. but once you add that top coat. Presto! Roses! And I love them!

I also realized that these colors of roses reminded me of my mother. She would tell me that the year that I was born everything was in the rosebud pattern. And so I had a rosebud diaper bag, changing pad, dresses, hats, blanket, you name it.

And when I look at these I am reminded of my mom, who passed away 8 years in February. So I am really glad I did these roses because I got to relieve some wonderful memories that I hadn't thought about in years.

For the polishes I used: OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls (base), OPI Sparrow Me the Drama (big part of flower), OPI Steady as She Rose (petals), and OPI Mermaid's Tears (leaves). Yep, a Pirates of the Caribbean rose mani! :)

#2014 Blogger Challenge: Skincare

Wait a minute! Hold up! Stop the presses. This is not technically a nail polish post!

What the dump? You ask yourself.

Do not fret or frown because it's time for the bi-weekly #2014 Blogger Challenge!

Trumpets bursting forth in triumphant flare! Doo do do do do dooooo!

Let Operation Skincare commence in 5...4...3...2...1!

The above photo shows my daily morning regiment. For the longest time (oh oh ooooh, for the longest) (sorry that song got stuck in my head), I used Aveeno and loved it. But I kept have dry patches on my face. So I decided to finally try a Clinique 3 step sample pack that I had. And I fell in love!

So in the morning I have a small version of the soap that I use on my face in the shower. Granted I don't always use soap on my face in the mornings, sometimes it is just water. Don't know why I do this but it seems to work.

I then get out of the shower lotion using whatever Suave Lotion I have there (got a ton back when I was couponing, and I really like them). I do my hair and then I finally use Step 2 the Clarifying Lotion. I use this after I do my hair and spray my hairspray so that I can wipe it all off with a little cotton pad and the clarifying lotion. While that is drying I put on deodorant (such details I am telling you!) and then I use Step 3 Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion. I love this stuff! They've even made a new formula!

After that I apply Clinique Super Defense Lotion. I use this to add extra moisture to my dry skin, it lasts a bit longer than the Step 3 PLUS it has SPF 20! This is a must in Arizona where I live. It should be a must everywhere!

And finally I use Urban Decay Naked Skin Beauty Balm SPF 20. I really love this stuff. It's slightly tinted and is very cooling when you put it on. Like it has menthol of something. I love the way it feels going on! :) After that I put on my makeup and I'm done.

Look! Hand stuff! I am a lotion hoarder, seriously. I love buying lotions. But these are the ones that are my go-to right now for my hands. Hempz is really light and refreshing and moisturizes really well. And heck, I got that huge bottle free! Thank you Ulta points! :)

Ahava Mineral Hand Cream is a heavier thicker hand cream which really coats my hands and makes them all soft! OPI Avojuice is just yummy! It's kinda of thin, but I still like it and I love the smell! And finally the holy grail of all nail care (for some people) Lush Lemony Flutter a whipped cuticle butter that rubs in all nice and smoogy. I can feel my cuticles sucking it up. A plus is that it smells like Pez candy! :)

As for my night time I use Clinique Step 1, 2, and 3. But if things are really bad, like now in winter, I pull out the big guns.....

This is Walmart brand Aquaphor. Way cheaper than the name brand and just as good! I slather this on my face focusing in the dry areas (so mainly just my cheeks, chin, and nose). I slather it on my feet and put on socks when I go to bed. I also coat my hands and wear little mittens to keep my hands soft.

This stuff is really good for healing sores too, like zits on your face, or hangnails. It works for me.

Well, that was my ridiculously long skincare regime. Do you use any of this stuff? Do you like it?

Operation Skincare completed!

The Lazy Blogger's 31DC: Inspired by a Movie

Inspired by a movie.........I really struggled with this one. Hopefully Emma had better luck! :) My creativity all used up until I remembered these stamping plates.

Any guesses on the movie? Anyone?

Ah yes, A Knight's Tale. Such a good movie! I love Heath Ledger!

I chose Color Club Mamba as my base because the movie poster had a lot of red in it. I stamped the jousting knights in Konad Black from Vivid Lacquer VL020. And the the stars are from Winstonia W107.

I did a gradient of silver and gold BarryM Foil Effects to show that you can change your stars! :)

The Digit-al Dozen Does Monochromatic Week: Teal

Last day of The Digit-al Dozen Does Monochromatic Week. And today I tried teal. These colors were so similar that the stamp almost doesn't show up, but I love the effect of it all!

I used Catrice San Francisco as my base and stamped using A England Saint George using Emily De Molly EDM04 plate. I also used HK Girl Top Coat. They are peacock feathers, just in case you can't tell.

The Digit-al Dozen Does Monochromatic Week: Green Stripes

Day 4 of The Digit-al Dozen Does Monochromatic Week but it is also a GOT Polish Challenge Day: Stripes! So I decided to do green mono stripes! And I am pretty happy with the way these turned out! Yep another tape mani for the win!

I started out with Finger Paints Sexy Sundress as my base. I then put two pieces of striping tape on the nail and proceeded to use my dotting tool to fill in the lines! On the three nails (accent nail is reverse order) it goes: Nubar Reclaim, China Glaze It's Alive, A England Dragon, and China Glaze Westside Warrior. All topped with HK Girl Top Coat.

For the GOT Polish Challenge, each polish has to be a year old and haven't been used in the past year. Some of these (It's Alive) are way older than a year!
I definitely like this design, a bit time consuming but I can see myself doing it again!
