Welcome to the next week of The Digit-al Dozen Does It Again! Today is day 7 and we have Geeks! Boo-ya! I was super stoked to have this theme again! I think there might be a few of us that do the same fandom. :) Doctor Who!
Today's mani is all about my My Online Shop MJ XII plate that I got specially for these two images! I love them! The Tardis and an all over print of the Doctors, Tardis, and screwdrivers! What's not to love!
I used OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls (two coats) as the base of three of my nails. I used Cult Nails Time Traveler (duh, had to right?). I stamped on my two fingers using Sally Hansen Quick Jeanius (from the new 2013 fall line). I stamped using Konad White for the Tardis. And of course I had to use my NerdLacquer Don't Blink as my glitter accent nail! Topped it all off with HK Girl Top Coat.
You may also notice I have a slightly different hand position. I am trying out a new way of taking photos by using my gorillapod (tripod thingy). And so I need to put my hand in a new position and then rotate the photo. BUT! I am loving how clear and crisp the image is! What do you think?
Don't forget to check out the other ladies and their geeky manis! Also, don't forget to enter our September Spectacular Giveaway! (link on the sidebar)
Today is the last day of Trend Week and it is also TGIF: Thank Goodness, Indy Indie Friday! So what better than a NerdLacquer! Now are these polishes a trend or just a must have? I think they are a need! They are sold out within minutes and everyone wants them! Remember when she stopped selling them? And we all had to love the ones we had and only admire the others from a far? But she's back now! Wahoo!
Today I have NerdLacquer: All of Time and Space. A gorgeous minty/fuchsia Doctor Who polish! This is two coats with no undies.
Here it is with a flash. Look at the sparkly goodness! This polish, like her others, was amazing! Glitter applied evenly without fishing!
Wahoo! It's Friday! TGIF: Thank Goodness, Indy Indie Friday! And today I have a lovely one for you! NerdLacquer: Don't Blink. This was one of my biggest lemmings for the past year. I bought other polishes like this to help with the lemming but I knew nothing could compare to Don't Blink. And I was right!
Here is NerdLacquer: Don't Blink, two coats, no undies except Essence peel off base coat. Just look at the gorgeous-ness of this polish! It is heaven!
The application of this polish is perfection! The glitter applied evenly and smoothly! It helped that I had my polish tipped upside down before I used it to disperse the glitters! (cap was securely screwed on!) Thank you NerdLacquer for creating such awesome polish!
For those of you who aren't aware, this polish is based on a famous Doctor Who episode: Blink. It is about weeping stone angels that come alive when you aren't looking at them. It is one of the most intense Doctor Who episodes!
Welcome to another fabulous week of The Digit-al Dozen! This week it is Geek themed! Yes! I got to pick the theme and there were many many groans. But tough ladies! This week is going to be so epic it's ridiculous! Everyone's manis are going to be great!
So let's start off with some polishes shall we? These are all one coat each. (l-r) NerdLacquer Gorramit, NerdLacquer I Aim to Misbehave, Cult Nails Time Traveler, and Cult Nails Power Thief. Can you see what theme I'm going for here? Or is it still a bit vague?
Sorry for the slightly blurry nails. It would seem that the NerdLacquers are so fabulous that the camera can't even focus on them! But as you can see you could pretty much get away with just one coat of each of these polishes! But a second coat adds so much more depth and glory!
See the depth and glory? :) Two coats each. Such an interesting skittle no? What can she be doing you ask yourself. Well, the two NerdLacquers are both from the Serenity Trio (Shiny being the third). But the other two? Huh?
Boom! Ah-yeah! You get it now? A mash up of two epic cult TV shows! Boo-yah! Firefly (first two nails) and Doctor Who (last two nails)! I had to do both! My index finger has the first line of the Firefly theme song: "Take My Love....". My middle finger is (suppose to be) the logo from the ship Serenity. My ring finger is a T.A.R.D.I.S. and my pinkie is the Doctor Who theme song! Blam!
Polishes used:
Index: NerdLacquer Gorramit and a black Sharpie.
Middle: NerdLacquer I Aim to Misbehave, Jessica Pumpkin Delight, KleanColor Metallic Yellow, and Catrice Lost in Mud.
Ring: Cult Nails Time Traveler and Milani White on the Spot.
Pinkie: Cult Nails Power Thief and a black Sharpie.
These Indies all applied perfectly without any problems!
All of these four Indies are unique to my collection. Cult Nails Power Thief might have some close dupes maybe more like relatives but nothing with that much shimmer!

Don't forget to check out the other ladies and their Geek nails!
Oh my goodness! I had no idea how I was going to combine all my themes for today! TGIF: Thank Goodness, Indy Indie Friday; The Digit-al Dozen Does Art, and 31 Day Challenge 2013 (relaxed version). So I decided to focus on the Indie polishes themselves since they are a work of art! :) See, see what I did there? Wink wink! ;)
"The Indo-European root of the word 'art' is 'to arrange; or 'fit together' (join). In this light, art can be pared down to its most simplistic form. We begin by collecting, then playing the the materials or objects, organizing them in a variety of ways, making new combinations, trying new things, then observing the arrangements we have made". (Keri Smith, 15)
Bah! Oh my goodness! Does that not describe us all to a "T"? We collect our tens, hundreds, or thousands of bottles of polish. Oh, we definitely play with them and organize them (by color or by brand?) New combos? Why duh! Of course! Trying new things? Yep, daily almost especially with all the nail art challenges. And oh how we "observe the arrangements we have made".....BLOGS! This is why I chose Indies for my art piece today. :)
Oh and there are a lot of photos here...just to warn you! :) Oh and these are each two coats!
First up in the rainbow is red: Elemental Styles Iron Man-ia. This is a gorgeous red jelly with red and gold glitters! Sadly she doesn't carry this polish any more and is just trying to sell her last polishes :( But she still does have some pretties available! Go visit her Elemental Styles Etsy Page
Next color in the rainbow is orange: Glimmer by Erica's Spicy Pumpkin. This is from her fall line and is a clear based glitter with orange, brown, garnet, and red glitters. I love her glitters! So many fun unique combos! Visit her Glimmer by Erica Etsy Page
Next up is yellow: NerdLacquer Gorramit. This is from her Serenity Trio. Wowza are her polishes amazing! Sadly she's been away for a while but has announced plans on returning! Polish crazed ladies rejoice! :)
How about green: Once Upon a Polish The Beanstalk. Sadly another amazing Indie polish maker who has stopped making polishes. I loved her concept and glitters! This is a green glitter in a clear base.
Here's blue: Rainbow Polish Sky Walker. From her Star Set 2 (inspired by Star Wars!) Epic geeky win! This is a "slightly milky blue base containing small blue glitters,
blue"lightsaber" glitter bars, white square glitters and small blue dust
glitter". Visit her Rainbow Polish Etsy Shop (and this polish is still there!)
On to indigo: A England Tristam is the closest I could get. And it is stunning! Though they are a bit more big-leagued, A England is still and Indie! Visit her shop A England.
And last but not least purple: Dollish Polish Hylian Princess. From her Zelda Duo (another epic geeky win!) This was a huge lemming of mine finally squashed! It is purple, white, and gold glitters in a clear base. Visit her Dollish Polish shop
Big ol' lineup! :)
Backside lineup!
Now, did I cheat a bit for today? Nah, I don't think so! So many talented women create gorgeous works of art for our fingers! We must praise them! And of course give them our money! :)
Don't forget to check out the other ladies in The Digit-al Dozen:
And doing the 31 Day Challenge 2013 (relaxed version):
This is our final day this month for The Digit-al Dozen Blue Week! And today I am featuring an Indie polish because it is also Thank Goodness, Indy Indie Friday!
Once in a while there comes a polish brand that just completely blows everything out of the water and becomes hot stuff! Case in point: Nerd Lacquer. Sadly she is not creating anymore but if she ever does, the heavens would rejoice! :)
This is one coat of Shiny. A gorgeous bright blue with silver glitters. This is one polish from the Serenity Trio (woot woot! Still Flying!). Serenity is my favorite movie and so I had to have this set and I am so glad I did as it is the only three Nerd Lacquers I own. As you can see, Shiny is a bit sheer for one coat.
Two coats and marvel at it! Such an icy blue! Speechless at this! I had no issues applying this polish! A dream, just like Captain Malcolm Reynolds of Serenity!
Another drool-worthy photo! A little blurry to show what? Yep, it's Shiny!
Bottle shot of this gorgeous polish!
Do you have the great privilege of owning a Nerd Lacquer? Is so, which one?
Don't forget to check out the full line-up of ladies in The Digit-al Dozen:
So the other day I wore NerdLacquer's I Aim to Misbehave, remember? (If not, go here). Well, as I was applying it Orly Fowl Play popped into my mind as being a dupe. So I thought I would compare them. As you can tell straight from the bottle shots they are not dupes. But they do have some similarities! Let's take a look shall we?
Macro shot of NerdLacquer I Aim to Misbehave. You can see it is a purple base with red, silver, and blue glitter.
Macro shot of Orly Fowl Play. Look, purple base with red, silver, and blue glitter! See why I thought they could possibly be dupes. But this is how they are similar. :) But the red glitter in this one seems to be flakie than glitter. (no complaints here!)
Whoops! So not dupes! This is one coat of each. NerdLacquer on the left with Orly on the right. NerdLacquer is more of a berry purple with Orly a definite purple base. Nerdlacquer is more opaque too and bumpy!
Still one coat of NerdLacquer on the left with two coats of Orly on the right.
So, though they both are a purple base with red, silver, and blue glitter....that is where the similarity ends. Do you need both? That's a heck yes you do! :) And yes, you are most welcome for added more lemmings to your wishlist! :)
Ready? Oooh....ahhhhh! Yep. I finally used it! And it is purdy! Oh so purdy! And you know what? This, my darlings, is one coat! ONE! Boo-yah! I didn't want to use it because I was afraid to use it all up, but boy was I ever wrong! This is a case when I like to be wrong!
So the technicals: This is I Aim to Misbehave from NerdLacquer's Serenity Trio with two coats of Seche Vite (one coat and it was still glitter bumpy). You can get it at NerdLacquer etsy shop, Ninja Polish, or Harlow & Co
A word to the wise. She sells out dang quick! If you go to her etsy shop you can be notified by email when she restocks. Ninja Polish will also send you an email when they restock. :) Lovely aren't they!
This polish is a loverly shade of deep plum almost a deep berry with bits of silver micro glitter, blue glitter and red glitter. Mmmmm! Love!
So I told you this was a one coater right? Well, on my right hand (shock! She has another hand!) I can show you what it looks like when you don't happen to put as much on the nail brush. Now, no laughing at the paint job. My left hand is stupid and is only good for holding a bottle of polish.
See my ring finger there? It could have used a second coat of polish. But I didn't mind too badly. Tomorrow I go back to work and will mess them up again. :)
Oh and what's a Serenity post without a little clipage!? :)
