The Digit-al Dozen Does Fandom Week: Allons-y

Day 4 brings you a very popular and rightly so, amazing fandom of Doctor Who. Now there have been some discussion on what makes you a true Whovian: have you watched all episodes from the very beginning with the first Doctor? Or are you like me who started with the ninth Doctor? But no matter how you look at, we are all obsessed with the lovable man with two hearts!

I used Cult Nails Time Traveler (absolutely fantastic color) for my first two nails with OPI Boyfriend Scales Walls on the other nails. On my index nail I stamped using Konad White and My Online Shop MJ JR-31. Sadly a crack has started to appear on the T.A.R.D.I.S. Eeeks!

My middle finger has the phrase  A Mad Man in a (My Online Shop MJ JR-31 using Konad White). Rightly so. No one madder than the Doctor, but I'd have him on my team any day! I also added Above the Curve Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey  to add some sparkle and pizazz!

My ring finger represents my favorite Doctor, number ten. He will always be my favorite. I used Konad Black and stamped using MoYou Geek 07 for the 3D glasses and MoYou Pro 04 for the rose. I colored in the glasses with Konad Red and BarryM Malibu. The rose is colored in with OPI Magenta Muse (love these new color paints!)

And finally on my pinkie is a bit of Gallifreyan (the Doctor's written language). I used Konad Black and MoYou Geek 07.

The Digit-al Dozen Does Counties and Cultures Week - India's Festival of Colors

Welcome to another month and another week of The Digit-al Dozen! This week's theme is Countries and Cultures. A lot of us really struggled with this one. At first I wanted to do different celebrations from around the world, but I ran out of time and was only able to produce one mani about a festival. And that is today's mani!

http://crazzzytravel.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/festival-of-colors.jpg
"Holi is a spring festival also known as the festival of colours or the festival of love. [...] participants play, chase and colour each other with dry powder and coloured water, with some carrying water guns and coloured water-filled balloons for their water fight. Anyone and everyone is fair game, friend or stranger, rich or poor, man or woman, children and elders.[...] The festival signifies the victory of good over evil, the arrival of spring, end of winter, and for many a festive day to meet others, play and laugh, forget and forgive, and repair ruptured relationships" (source)

I really wanted to capture that thrown color look from the picture above. I started with Milani White on the Spot as my base. I only used one coat as I knew I would be covering it up! I then used five polishes to achieve this look. I used Q-tips to dab on the polish and sort of remove the color at the same time, does that make sense? It sort of diffused the colors. It's sort of like The Nailasaurus' Nimbus Tutorial but without the acetone! As for those five polishes, they are: Above the Curve Banana to a Party, and Barry M's Plum, Pomegranate, Grapefruit, and Guava. I absolutely love how this turned out! I topped it off with some HK Girl Top Coat.

I stamped using Konad Black and MoYou Explorer 03. I absolutely love this plate, the henna-like images are so gorgeous! Slapped a bit of HK Girl Top Coat to seal the images.

And to finish it off I used Essie Matte About You to complete the look. I loved this mani, I really didn't want to take it off! I got a lot of compliments at work! :)

Don't forget to check out the other ladies as they take you around the world!

The Nail Challenge Collaborative Presents: Skittles - Holos!

Second Skittle post for The Nail Challenge Collaborative! Today I decided to do an all holo skittle!

Holos are so beautiful in person but sometimes are a pain to capture on camera!

From left to right: Above the Curve Banana to a Party, Nail Nation 3000 Rumpel Stiltskin, Different Dimension That's Just Ducky, and Nail Nation 3000 Glow Worm. I stamped using Color Club Cherubic and MoYou Sailor 03. Each nail has OPI My Vampire is Buff as a base color so that I didn't have to do so many layers! And I sealed them all with HK Girl Top Coat!

Easy-peasy!

Don't forget to check out the other second day skittle posts!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Decades Week: 1990's Grunge

For the final day of The Digit-al Dozen Does Decades Week I bring you the 1990's Grunge movement!
"Grunge became commercially successful in the first half of the 1990s, due mainly to the release of Nirvana's Nevermind, Pearl Jam's Ten, Soundgarden's Badmotorfinger, Alice in Chains' Dirt, and Stone Temple Pilots' Core. [...] Clothing commonly worn by grunge musicians in Washington consisted of thrift store items and the typical outdoor clothing (most notably flannel shirts) of the region, as well as a generally unkempt appearance." -source

So, I had a totally different idea for this in my head but I suddenly had an inspiration and love the way it turned out! I started out with one coat of Essence Romeo. I did only one coat because I wanted it thin and haphazard. While Romeo was still a bit wet I did the Saran Wrap technique using Above the Curve Banana to a Party. Before this dried completely, I gouged out a few holes in the polish and added dents and bare patches to give the grungy look. I used Essence We Will Rock You to create the smokey finish. I stamped using Konad Special Black and Vivid Lacquer VL015. I used my Essence black nail art pen to create the numbers. I topped it off with Essie Matte About You.

I am totally in love with this mani! To me it is the 1990s!

Don't forget to check out the other ladies to see what decade they visited!
