#2014BloggerChallenge: Playlist

So, ages ago (back in January) I started doing the #2014 Blogger Challenge by Another Girly Blg. Yeah, I only did like three prompts and that includes the one telling you all about the challenge! So much has gone on in my life since then that I missed all the others, including a nail art prompt. Geez, really? I so could have done that! But I am going to try and get back into it! So I am a few days late with this prompt, but I'm doing it nonetheless! (fist pump!)

Because, it's time to parrrrrty!

The prompt is: Music. I am a sucker for harmony, discord, and different sounding voices. So I'm going to give you a taste of what I love to listen to and what is on repeat right now:

This song is totally on repeat right now. I love this version as well as Lennon and Maisy's version of it.

Speaking of Lennon and Maisy, I love their version of Ho Hey!

I love The Civil Wars!

It was hard to choose just on song by Meg & Dia, because all of them are fabulous!

I love this song. It reminds me of my mother.

This song is always stuck in my head! Not kidding, always!

Because this song is just awesome! A Zombie love song? Yes please!

Because we sing this song by Parry Gripp in my house a lot! (We also like Up Butt Coconut and Nom Nom Nom Nom Nom)

If I had to listen to one song over and over again, it would be Clair de Lune by Debussy.

Because I had too!

And now your eyes are bleeding! Hahahaha! You are most welcome.

So I have a varied taste in music. I could keep going but I'll let you clean up the blood from the last song. :) Go to AnotherGirlyBlg to see all the other music lists!

Hip to Be Square: The Neverending Pile Challenge and The Nail Challenge Collaborative

Phew! Made it! Last day (for this week at least) of double challenge posts! Today I have The Neverending Pile Challenge: I Had to Have but Still Haven't Use It (Essence Urban Messages) and The Nail Challenge Collaborative: Music/Movies/TV day 4 post.

So, last year I came across a post with a gorgeous gorgeous Essence polish called Skyscraper. Well I had to track it down off a blog sale. I had to buy the whole Urban Messages collection to get Skyscraper. I have already used Skyscraper but not the rest of the collection. So I chose these four remaining polishes as my I had to have but haven't used yet because they were bought with my had to have!

Starting with my index finger the polishes are: Essence It Peace, Essence Street Styler, Essence Nightline, and Essence Wall of Fame. (since these were so sheer I had to use OPI My Vampire is Buff). But look at these gorgeous polishes! The shimmer and flash! Why did I wait to use these?

This is how I tied it to The Nail Challenge Collaborative with D&R Apothecary You're a Star. A lovely square glitter topper. Sadly this indie polish brand is no more. Sad, I loved her glitters!

But wait!? How does that tie into the Collaborative of Music/Movies/TV?

You're welcome. This song has been in my head for a while now!

Don't forget to check out what the others had to have but still haven't used yet!

Don't forget to check out what others did for their final post of Music/Movies/TV!

Just Glue Some Gears On It (and Call it Steampunk): The Neverending Pile Challenge and The Nail Challenge Collaborative

Another day of combing two challenges! Again it is The Neverending Pile Challenge (Boutique Polish) and The Nail Challenge Collaborative (Post 2 of Movies/Music/TV).

I started off with my untried boutique polish Illamasqua Radium (two coats). Boutique polish had a lot of different definitions. I chose to follow the definition of higher end polish found in only a few shops. I got this from Sephora when they were clearancing them to $7! I really love this color and the formula was fabulous!

I stamped using BM-415(gears) and MoYou Sci-Fi 02 (Owl). I used KleanColor Metallic Brown. Holy crud, do you know how long it took me to do this mani? The stamping took forever! Over a half an hour! Stupid KleanColor! I thought it would work since it's a metallic and my others work like a charm. Um, nope! But I really wanted the metallic sheen to it. Should have gone with my Essie metallics. Oh well. I added four dots under the owl because I had positioned him too high and there was no way I was redoing it! Hahahaha! I topped it off with HK Girl Top Coat.

So how does tie into The Nail Challenge Collaborative? How about a song called: Just Glue Some Gears On It (and Call it Steampunk). A hilarious Steampunk song about just because you've put gears on it, that doesn't make it Steampunk. I can admit of being guilty of this! :)

Don't forget to check out the other boutique polishes!

And don't forget to see what the others chose for their day 2 Movies/Music/TV posts!

The Digit-al Dozen Does It Again: Music

Day 3 of The Digit-al Dozen Does It Again, and today is music! Have you ever had one of those days when everything you do turns to pot? Well, today was that day and is evident with this mani (except my ring finger which is looking fabulous if not short!)

I used Milani White On the Spot for my base. I stamped using Konad Black and Cheeky CH31. My piano keys don't really look like keys, not sure what they look like though. Think my nails are too short and I didn't stamp is straight enough. But oh well! I topped it all of with none other than HK Girl Top Coat!

Still really liking my ring finger! :)

The Digit-al Dozen Does Music and TGIF - Glimmer by Erica Harvest Moon

Day 5 of The Digit-al Dozen Does Music is also TGIF: Thank Goodness, Indy Indie Friday! And so I picked an Indie that I have that is also the name of a song! :) This stunning glitter is Glimmer by Erica's Harvest Moon.

She was inspired by:
the haunting light of the harvest moon. It is a stunning blend of gold, brown, orange, and burgundy glitters. It showcases all of the rich warm colors of fall.

Just love these colors together! It totally is fall in a bottle! Like always: (l-r) is 4 coats, 3 coats, 2 coats, and 1 coat of Harvest Moon.

Here is Harvest Moon (one coat) applied over OPI Skull & Glossbones, OPI Dutch Ya Just Love OPI, OPI Uh-Oh Roll Down the Window, and OPI Fly.

Harvest Moon applied wonderfully as a top coat. Just like my other Glimmer by Erica glitters I had no issues except that sometimes too much glitter applied. But that's alright! I'll take it! :)

Bottle shot and macro bottle of Spicy Pumpkin.

Please go over to her Facebook page here to be kept up-to date with her news.
And bookmark her etsy page here so that you can buy her polishes! :)

Don't forget to check out Emma's TGIF post over at Manicurity! She is also in The Digit-al Dozen!

This is Harvest Moon by Neil Young. It is used a lot in the movie Eat, Pray, & Love. (Good movie by the way!)

Oh and check out the best photo bomb ever! He (my nephew) was watching me take pictures! :)  (Don't worry, he wasn't there for the application of the polish).

The Digit-al Dozen Does Music - Sunshine Lollipops and Rainbows

Day 4 of The Digit-al Dozen Does Music brings us to a specific song: Sunshine, Lollipops, and Rainbow by Lesley Gore. For some reason (thank you Simpsons) this song gets stuck in my head.....a lot. And I really only know the line that has the title!

And now after watching this, I guess I knew the majority of the song with just knowing the title! :)

So, if you can't tell, my index finger is sunshine! I used Sinful Colors Unicorn (two coats) as the base and stamped using Klean Colors Metallic Orange and Bundle Monster BM301 for the rays. I also added Orly Shinning Star to make it sparkle. (Did you catch that? Shinning Star is also a song title! wink wink!)

Next up are my lollipops! Essence No More Drama (two coats) for the base and  Konad Black with Klean Colors Metallic Green, Klean Colors Metallic Aqua, and Klean Colors Metallic Fuschia for the lollipops. I used Cheeky stamping plate CH9 for the images.

My rainbow is Essie Borrowed & Blue (two coats) using Klean Colors Metallic Aqua, Klean Colors Metallic Yellow, Klean Colors Metallic Green, and Klean Colors Metallic Fuschia with Konad Q1 for the rainbow!

And finally more rainbow pinky finger (I needed rainbows to be plural!) I used Essence Romeo as my base with Essence Hello Holo (two coats) for the shimmery holo goodness!

Just another quick image of the fun colors and rainbow goodness! :)

And here is the clip that forever got this song stuck in my head! You are welcome! :)

The Digit-al Dozen Does Music - Song Skittle

Day 3 of The Digit-al Dozen Does Music. And today I have a skittle that looks totally random but in all actuality, isn't. That's right! There is a rhyme and reason to my madness...sometimes. :)

This mani is a Song Skittle! Well, as close to one as I could get.

First up we have Catrice Browno Mars. So this is the one except to the song name polishes. But I had to use this polish. I mean come on, Browno Mars? It needed to be used in this themed week and in this mani! :) This is two coats and applied like a dream like every Catrice polish!

On my middle finger we have China Glaze Strawberry Fields. This made me think of Strawberry Fields Forever by the Beatles. Two coats.

On my ring finger we have Catrice Sing: Hey, Dirty Lilah! Which reminds me of Plain White T's Hey There Delilah. I love this polish. This is two coats and still, sadly, the silver shimmer doesn't show up as much on the nail. :( But I still love it! I also stamped a fitting image using Konad Black and Cheeky plate CH27.

And finally for my pinky we have Catrice I Wear My Sunglasses at Night (two coats). Gorgeous black polish with multi-colored glitters! So much fun! Now this song will be stuck in your head! Muwahahaha! :)

So what did we learned today? That Catrice polishes have totally awesome names! And formulas too! :)

The Digit-al Dozen Does Music - Pop Diva Glitter Style!

Day 2 of The Digit-al Dozen Does Music. And today we have a glitter mani fit for some pop divas! What music theme week would be complete without at least mentioning two ground-breaking women of pop music!? And who am I talking about?

Why Madonna and Lady Gaga of course! :)

I love a lot of Madonna's songs. Her Ray of Light album is my favorite of hers. As for Lady Gaga? She has some pretty catchy songs that get stuck in my head, but I only own one of her songs (one sung by her. I do have some covers of her songs by other artists). Now this is nothing against her, I'm just not a mainstream music type of gal. :)

So here we have China Glaze Material Girl and Deborah Lippmann Bad Romance. Two coats each.

Here is a photo pf the base colors that I used for this mani. OPI Sparrow Me the Drama and Finger Paints Black Expressionism. Two coats each.

Now that you have watched Lady Gaga's video you should check out this video about Women's Suffrage. It is amazing! :) And fitting for today! :)

The Digit-al Dozen Does Music - Music Devices Through the Years

It's November! And you know what that means? Yep! Another installment of The Digit-al Dozen! This month our topic is music! Music is such a great inspiration! I had a lot of fun coming up with some ideas. So here we go!

This mani represents 4 devices used through the years to play music.

First we have the good old record (I promise it's not a scary demon eye!). I remember going through my mom's record collection when I was young and listening to the Beatles, The Mamas and The Papas, and many musicals. But I think my favorite record growing up was Little Red Caboose. Loved this record! To this day I still sing Little Red Caboose and Rag Mop!

My middle finger represents a cassette tape (I also promise it is not a robot or a face!). Man I loved my collection of tapes! I had all of The New Kids on the Block tapes! Oh baby! ;) And creating mix tapes! Oh yeah, I was queen!

My ring finger represents the golden age of compact discs or CDs. I know, I know, we still use them today.  But I remember my first CD I ever bought: The Cranberries To the Faithful Departed. Still have the CD and still listen to it! :)

And finally my pinky finger is an iPod. My first iPod was a Nano 2nd generation. I thought it was the coolest thing ever! Mine was green. :)

Specs:
Index: Pure Ice Platinum Magic Base Coat, Finger Paints Black Expressionism, and Zoya Sooki.

Middle: Leighton Denny Berry Nice, Finger Paints Black Expressionism, and Pure Ice Platinum Magic Base Coat.
Ring: Pure Ice Platinum Magic Base Coat and Nail Savvy Chrome.
Pinky: China Glaze Cha Cha Cha, Finger Paints Black Expressionism, and Pure Ice Platinum Magic Base Coat.
