The Digit-al Dozen Does Fandom Week: Fandoms Rule!

Final day for The Digit-al Dozen Does Fandom Week and today I bring you some fandoms that I wasn't able to do a full mani because I ran out of time. But many of the ladies did cover these fandoms this week!

For the Lord of the Ring finger (ah man, I so should have put this fandom on my ring finger! D'oh!) I used BarryM Foil Effects Gold and stamped using Konad Black and MoYou Geek 07,

Sherlock nail is Milani White on the Spot with Konad Black MoYou Geek 07. I colored in the face with acrylic paint.

My ring finger is an epic image of many fandoms, it is on the Bundle Monster BM-602 plate and is genius! I stamped using Konad Black onto BarryM Mustard.

And last but not least Harry Potter Deathly Hallows stamped using Konad Black and My Online Shop MJ Jr-31 onto BarryM Caramel.

So ends this amazing week! I had such a great time creating these manis I might even do some more down the road. :)

Don't forget to check out the other ladies and their final fandom manis!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Fandom: Still Flyin'

Day 3 of The Digit-al Dozen Does Fandom Week and I give you one of the best fandoms ever! I am and forever will be a Browncoat! Still flyin'!

A Browncoat is a fan of the TV Show Firefly (created by Joss Whedon) and it's movie (brought about because of it's fandom) Serenity. This short-lived (at least on TV, thanks FOX) show is about some pretty amazing space cowboys.

I started off with OPI My Vampire is Buff on each of my nails (oh please of please someone see what I did there! Hahahaha!). I used Essie Matte about you as my topcoat. On my index I used MdU Light Gray to stamp some metal panels using Bundle Monster BM-609. The Serenity (the ship) is stamped in Konad Black using My Online Shop MJ Jr-31. This nail represents part of the first scene in the movie Serenity:

My middle finger is stamped with dinosaurs from Bundle Monster BM-611 using BarryM Vanilla and a leaf from Winstonia W113 and MdU Ochre. This nail represents our beloved pilot Wash. I will only show you one image, the dinosaur scene, because the leaf reference is too sad.

My ring finger represents River (also, she can kill you with her mind). I sponged BarryM Chai for the base and stamped using Konad Black and filled in the hands with BarryM Blueberry. "two by two, hands of Blue" is a phrase in the TV series that River quotes. It refers to men who are after River and her brother. These men have some really advance technology that can make you bleed from every orifice. *joy*

And finally my pinkie can have two different meanings. I sponged a ton of different polishes (BarryM Chilli, Mango, Cocoa) and stamped using Konad Black and MdU Papyrus and MoYou London Suki 04 (the writing). I wanted to this to represent the colors of Serenity with the script on it as Mandarin is commonly used in the series. But the script doesn't show up that well and so can also be taken as Jayne's (because they are also his colors, especially wearing his hat) quote: "She is startin' to damage my calm". Because my sponging looks chaotic.

If you haven't seen this series or movie, please take the time to watch it, you won't be disappointed. You may have withdrawals (thanks FOX).

Today was one of my favorite fandoms! Don't forget to check out the other ladies and what they chose!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Fandom Week: Wait for it......

Surprise! Guess who's still around! Come on, guess! Yep, it's me! This is my first nail art post in almost two months! Dang huh! And this week is The Digit-al Dozen Does Fandom Week! There was no way I would miss this week!

So in good ol' Geeky Owl humor I bring you my first mani for Fandom. Do you get it? My mani is for the number one fan of....wait for it....fans! Hahahahaha! Yep, I went there and yep, I did that. Cheesy, absolutely. But I had to come back with an unusual mani that fits my humor! :)

As you can see anxiety has reduced my nails to nubs, sometimes painful nubs. And I have a new computer and have to learn to use a new editing software >_<

But I decided to rock out the nubs with OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls. I stamped using Konad Black and Qgirl-001 for the fans and Qgirl-011 for the meme faces. I also tried to stamp the heart from Bundle Monster BM-601 but it didn't show up that well and I filled it in with Konad Red and China Glaze Ruby Pumps. And of course I used HK Girl Top Coat.

So, what do you think? Does this mani represent a fandom? :)

It's great to be back and I hope to be sticking around. I already have 4 out of the 5 manis for this week created (just need to edit and write up the posts). So you have me at least for this week! I also have ideas for NCC this month. Hopefully they turn out!

As usual don't forget to check out the other amazing ladies of the Digit-al Dozen who have been super supportive these past two months! And thank you to all those that have stuck around and supported me! Love ya!

Check out which fandom was represented today with the other ladies!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Childhood: Lisa Frank

Welcome to another month and another week of The Digit-al Dozen!

First off: I'm sorry I have been MIA for the last month. It's been one of those months where I just couldn't really function properly, you know? But I hope to back more often (more than just DD week!) this month! I have a review of some polish, some makeup, NCC theme, and I want to talk about my skincare regime that I hinted at a few months back. Phew! I hope to get to it all!

It's great to be back! Now onto our regularly scheduled program (because DD week is the only consistent thing about my blog! Hahahaha!)

I am a child of the 80's. Born in 1981, I lived through all the craziness that was the 80's. The slouch socks, the bangle bracelets (the band The Bangles, Walk Like an Egyptian anyone?), the Garbage Pail Kids, the best Saturday morning cartoons and after school specials. Yep, the 80's were awesome!

Nothing screams 80's more than any Lisa Frank design!

This image was my inspiration for today's mani. Totally 80's right? Like, totally!

I started off with a base color of Layla Softouch Effects 04 (Neon Pink) on my first two fingers and OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls on the other two. I blobbed and squished colors: Layla Softouch Effects 04 (Neon Pink), Layla Softouch Effects 09 (Aqua Zen), Milani Totally 80s (how appropriate! didn't pay attention to the name until now!), China Glaze Papaya Punch, and China Glaze Gothic Lolita. I then stamped using Cheeky CH-11 (index finger) and Bundle Monster BM-613 (middle finger) and Konad Black (used for all nails). I colored parts of the cheetah's face using MBSW and Totally 80s. On the other two nails I stamped using Konad Q1 (remember when this was THE plate everyone wanted!). I filled in the spots using the plethora of polishes listed above. Topped it all off with HK Girl Top Coat.

So, like, what do you think? Isn't is like so fetch and awesome!? Like if you don't love it, well, gag me with a spoon because that's bogus. (You're welcome).

Don't forget to check out the other ladies and their trips down memory lane!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Patterns on Patterns: Valentine's Day

I'm in love!

You know that special feeling you have when you plan out a mani in your head and it actually turns out the way you want!? Ah, true love has never known such happiness! C'est l'amour!

Final day of The Digit-al Dozen does pattern on pattern with today being tied for my favorite!

I started with BarryM Miami as my base and stamped using BarryM Pomegranate and BarryM Silver Foil. I used Bundle Monster BM-311 and BM-317. And to have the foil really pop I used Essie Matte About You top coat.

Any manis that you've had that special feeling for? :)

The Digit-al Dozen Patterns on Patterns: Bleep Bloop Bloop Bleep!

Bleep bloop bloop bleep! That means I love you in robot! :) Today I have some stamping, not just double stamping, no no, that's child's play, I have triple stamping (that's right I'm playing with the big boys now! *cue Prince of Egypt Steve Martin and Martin Short song).

I started out with this glorious SpaRitual polish Nomad (sandy matte shimmer!). Look at the flecks in there! Ooo-weee! She's a beaut! I then proceeded to goop up my cuticles with hair glue. I use a little plastic spatula that you use to get creams out of jars. You know, those sample ones that Sephora gives you or that you see at Ulta.

I stamped using the beautiful Briar Rose by A England. I've been using my Creative Shop big huge stamper and I'm in love! I used MoYou Sailor 03. Thank goodness for the goo!

Next I added what ended up looking like holographic spiderwebs using Color Club Cherubic and Bundle Monster BM-316. It's like a laser show!

Finally ended up added some adorkable love bots from MoYou Sci-Fi 02 and A England Saint George. I did top it off with HK Girl Top Coat and *le gasp* shrinkage! Say what? HK Girl has never done this to me before. So sad! I mean, I guess I can't really wrap my tips when I have no free edge now can I? :)

Ack! Giant thumb! D'aw but cute little love bot.

I really liked this mani but I think I really liked the base stamping photos best. But a little love bot love never hurt anyone! Am I right?

The Digit-al Dozen Does Fairy Tales: Into the Woods

It's time for another week of The Digit-al Dozen! This week is Fairy Tales, which has stumped a lot of members.

Today my nails are not based on one single fairy tale, but rather any fairy tale that involves the woods. I've created  a foggy forest in which many characters reside in fairy tale land. And also welcome to nub-ville, the winter has been hard on my nails!

I used China Glaze Five Rules (two coats) as my base. I used Konad Black and Bundle Monster BM-407 followed with BarryM Chai as the pathway and OPI My Pointe Exactly to help with the foggy-ness. I used Essence We will Rock You as the foggy bottom and finished it all up with Essie Matte About You.

I was trying to create a creepy forest, kind of like the one you see in the opening credits of Once Upon a Time. And a pathway that would certainly lead you to some nefarious creature.

The Digit-al Dozen Does Winter Wonderland: A Cozy Holo Gradient!

Hello my Owlets! Sorry for being MIA lately; I've had a few bad months. But doctor visit and some new meds and I hope things are going to be better! It's great to be back!

But guess what! It's a new month so that means a new Digit-al Dozen theme: Winter Wonderland! Today I have a cozy holo gradient with some subtle stamping on an accent nail. Is it super winter wonderland-y? I think so, it's like hot chocolate and pine trees. :)

Here is the gradient without the stamping. I used Color Club Cherubic (two coats) as my base on three of my nails and A England Dragon (two coats) on my accent nail. I then did gradients to add some depth and interest! :) I used Model City Polish Dipping Chocolate on my three nails with A England Saint George on my accent nail.

Aren't these holos amazing! I love them! This is the last mani I created for this week and my favorite! In fact I did both hands! Whoa! I hope it stays for a few days. :)

Ah! Close up! Here's to show both the stamping (Bundle Monster BM607 using Color Club Harp on It) and the flare, rainbow, gorgeousness of all the holo goodness! And of course I used HK Girl Top Coat to seal in the gorgeousness!

What do you think? Trying a few new things like photo size and shape and hand position. Yay? Nay?

The Digit-al Dozen Does Thankfulness: My Health

It's another month and another Digit-al Dozen theme with this month about being thankful. This theme turned out to be tricky. Some things that you are thankful are hard to incorporate into nail art, so you try to be specific, but then it gets to be little things. Well this week I did some grand non-tangible things and a few fun things that I am thankful for.

Today though, I am thankful for my health. All of it. As much I suffer with depression and anxiety I am still thankful for it. Because without going through what I have gone through I wouldn't be the person I am today (and no, I'm not talking about the panic-ridden person in bed, though that too! Hahaha!). I know that my depression has made me an old soul. I've always been mature for my age but dealing with depression since junior high has caused me to grow up a bit faster in a way. Almost 20 years dealing with a disease that is now only really getting any time in the spotlight and being allowed to not carry so much stigma.

There will always be people who say: "you can change things if you wanted to" (really!? really?), "if you just went to church more and prayed more" (right, because this is a punishment?), and "snap out of it" (if only!). But I would honestly happily keep depression and anxiety over what some others have. We always think we have it the worst, but if everyone's problems where put in a pile and we got to see all of them, pretty sure we'd want our own back. It has made me who I am. I know myself more deeply than some others know their selves. Do I ever wish I didn't have it? Sure, but if this is my struggle, then I'm perfectly fine with it.

I have met (also read that as "met") some amazing people who share my plight. Some I can visit with daily in person, buoying one another up. Others through Facebook groups and blogs where we reach across continents and oceans and soothe each other by listening and understanding.

So yes, I am thankful for my health because it has made me a stronger person. I've been so far down and have come back that I know things can only get better. I thankful also for those who have offered me their hand as I have walked through the darkness, offering aid and support. With you there by my side (both physically and through words) I would not be here today. Thank you.

To show my thankfulness I chose to do the awareness ribbon. I used Barielle Autumn in Seoul as my base. I stamped using A England Dragon (I slay my own personal dragons each day!) and Bundle Monster BM321. I added Essie Matte About You to get it that hazy look of the fog that we wander through daily.

Here it is before the matte top coat. So shinny and happy. Which, under that fog of depression and anxiety there is happiness, even if for a moment.

The Nail Challenge Collaborative Presents: Geometric - Lattice Work

Day three of The Nail Challenge Collaborative's Geometric theme brings you stamping in the design of lattice work. You know, those slender wooden "fence" like pieces that you have vines on or cover the under part of your deck?

Any-hoo. I have as my base a mysterious unknown China Glaze (bought at a beauty supply store where there may have been some frankening going on, but I don't care 'cuz it's purdy!). It's a lavender polish with holo glitter, but the glitter acts more like loose glitter, like it's not fully integrated into the polish. But it's not a texture polish either. Either way, she's pretty! I stamped using Barry M Plum and Bundle Monster BM-322. Sealed with HK Girl Top Coat for added shine!

Anyone have any ideas on what the base color is of this China Glaze? You know, without the added glitter (if that's what happened).

Today's Terrific Two prompt is China Pattern because the traditional gift for a 2nd anniversary is to a receive China set.

I used OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls (two coats) as my base. I stamped using Color Club Harp on It and Bundle Monster BM-017 and then swiped a quick holo french using Harp on It. All sealed with Poshe Top Coat.

The Digit-al Dozen Does Countries and Cultures Week - Scotland

Day 3 of The Digit-al Dozen Does Countries and Cultures Week and today I take you to the highlands of Scotland! Ach! If I could travel any where, Scotland is one place that I would love to visit! I always have, and I always will. (see what I did there? Oh I hope someone does!)

I created the Scottish Flag using Milani White on the Spot as my base (and the base for all the nails) and taped off the Saint Andrew's Cross and painted China Glaze First Mate. For my ring finger I created the national flower of Scotland, a thistle! I used KleanColor Metallic Purple and Metallic Green and Bundle Monster BM 313. For my pinkie I, of course, had to represent the national animal, a unicorn! How awesome is that! I stamped using Barry M Foil Effects Silver and  Winstonia W117. (had to make the unicorn sparkly, it's magical!). I used HK Girl Top Coat to seal the entire mani.

I hope my fellow Scottish readers will like what I did!

And because I can (the pipe band for my marching band in high school always played this song!):

Golden Oldie Thursday: Flowers

Can you believe it's May! Wow! Well, today for my Golden Oldie Thursday I went for my two favorites! Essence Romeo and A England Saint George! I love pairing these two together!

The prompt for today is flowers so I chose to use Bundle Monster BM-204. I love the look of these flowers! I topped this all off with HK Girl Top Coat.

Don't forget to check out what the others did for their flowers!
