The Digit-al Dozen Does Fandom Week: Allons-y

Day 4 brings you a very popular and rightly so, amazing fandom of Doctor Who. Now there have been some discussion on what makes you a true Whovian: have you watched all episodes from the very beginning with the first Doctor? Or are you like me who started with the ninth Doctor? But no matter how you look at, we are all obsessed with the lovable man with two hearts!

I used Cult Nails Time Traveler (absolutely fantastic color) for my first two nails with OPI Boyfriend Scales Walls on the other nails. On my index nail I stamped using Konad White and My Online Shop MJ JR-31. Sadly a crack has started to appear on the T.A.R.D.I.S. Eeeks!

My middle finger has the phrase  A Mad Man in a (My Online Shop MJ JR-31 using Konad White). Rightly so. No one madder than the Doctor, but I'd have him on my team any day! I also added Above the Curve Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey  to add some sparkle and pizazz!

My ring finger represents my favorite Doctor, number ten. He will always be my favorite. I used Konad Black and stamped using MoYou Geek 07 for the 3D glasses and MoYou Pro 04 for the rose. I colored in the glasses with Konad Red and BarryM Malibu. The rose is colored in with OPI Magenta Muse (love these new color paints!)

And finally on my pinkie is a bit of Gallifreyan (the Doctor's written language). I used Konad Black and MoYou Geek 07.

The Digit-al Dozen Does the Terrific Twos - Things That Come in Pairs

Welcome to another month and that means another theme for The Digit-al Dozen! This month we are celebrating two years! Crazy huh! So our topic this month is dealing with things associated with the number two!

And today is: Things that Come in Pairs. So what did I choose? A mad man and a box!

I know, it's not the normal "pair" of things you would think but I just had to do it! :)

I used Cult Nails Time Traveler (two coats) and Milani White on the Spot (two coats) as my base colors. I stamped using Cult Nails Time Traveler and My Online Shop's MJ JR-31. I of course had to use China Glaze Fairy Dust (not sure why this sudden hype for Fairy Dust. Are people just finding it? I've had mine for years, it's my go-to holo glitter). Sealed everything with Poshe Top Coat.

But let me tell you, this mani took FOREVER to create! Looks simple right? Bah! My stamper did not want to work on this day. It took hours to get a decent image. And I'm not lying, I would attempt for a while and then sit out (else I would have thrown it all at the wall) and try again. Grrrr! But I do like how it turned out. Now if I can only figure out why my stamper/plate/polish was on strike that day. >_<

I know I've been MIA for the past month. Going through a really tough time right now. Many times almost calling it quits on everything. Just need to get through this next month (every year this is the worst month for me because of my seasonal affective disorder; and now I have to deal with the anxiety too. *joy*). I hope to keep on keeping on but we shall see. I was able to get this whole week done for the DD. I also have a review post and a guest post in the works. :)

Don't forget to enter our fantabulously amazing 2nd Anniversary Giveaway! 51 prizes!

Don't forget to check out the other ladies and what pairs they chose to create!

Indie Month Day 11 and The Digit-al Dozen Does Geek - Cult TV Mash Up!

Welcome to another fabulous week of The Digit-al Dozen! This week it is Geek themed! Yes! I got to pick the theme and there were many many groans. But tough ladies! This week is going to be so epic it's ridiculous! Everyone's manis are going to be great!

So let's start off with some polishes shall we? These are all one coat each. (l-r) NerdLacquer Gorramit, NerdLacquer I Aim to Misbehave, Cult Nails Time Traveler, and Cult Nails Power Thief. Can you see what theme I'm going for here? Or is it still a bit vague?

Sorry for the slightly blurry nails. It would seem that the NerdLacquers are so fabulous that the camera can't even focus on them! But as you can see you could pretty much get away with just one coat of each of these polishes! But a second coat adds so much more depth and glory!

See the depth and glory? :) Two coats each. Such an interesting skittle no? What can she be doing you ask yourself. Well, the two NerdLacquers are both from the Serenity Trio (Shiny being the third). But the other two? Huh?

Boom! Ah-yeah! You get it now? A mash up of two epic cult TV shows! Boo-yah! Firefly (first two nails) and Doctor Who (last two nails)! I had to do both! My index finger has the first line of the Firefly theme song: "Take My Love....". My middle finger is (suppose to be) the logo from the ship Serenity. My ring finger is a T.A.R.D.I.S. and my pinkie is the Doctor Who theme song! Blam!

Polishes used:
Index: NerdLacquer Gorramit and a black Sharpie.
Middle: NerdLacquer I Aim to Misbehave, Jessica Pumpkin Delight, KleanColor Metallic Yellow, and Catrice Lost in Mud.
Ring: Cult Nails Time Traveler and Milani White on the Spot.
Pinkie: Cult Nails Power Thief and a black Sharpie.

These Indies all applied perfectly without any problems!

All of these four Indies are unique to my collection. Cult Nails Power Thief might have some close dupes maybe more like relatives but nothing with that much shimmer!

Indie Month: Day 9 - Cult Nails Hypnotize Me

This is my final Cult Nails for my Indie Month. This is Cult Nails Hypnotize Me, part of the "Hypnotic" Collection 2011. As you can see, I've used this more than the others, but not a ton more because this is goopy and applies really thick! But it is not unmanageable! :) (Not sure if it is just mine or all Hypnotize Me are like this).

Trying to show you the goop. I can hold this for a while and nothing happens. So you need to make sure you scrape some off before applying so you don't get too much on your nail! But like I said, it is easy to apply for being so goopy!

See! Look how nice and evenly it applies! This is one coat of Hypnotize Me on it's own. This is a sheer green jelly packed with blue and green micro fine glitter.

Two coats of Hypnotize Me. How fun is that! I love it on it's own! But you can also use it as a top coat!

Here is Hypnotize Me over Cult Nails Enigmatic. Just look at that shimmer and amazing-ness! Wow!

Hypnotize Me over Cult Nails In A Trance. Really sparkles doesn't it!

And finally Hypnotize Me over Cult Nails Let Me Fly. It really adds more oomph to this! Amped up Let Me Fly!

Hypnotize Me is a gorgeous polish and is unique in my collection.

This polish is available at Cult Nails for $12

Indie Month: Day 8 - Cult Nails Let Me Fly

Day 8 of my Indie Month and I have another Cult Nails for you. This time it is Cult Nails Let Me Fly. Originally from the "A Day at the Races" Collection from 2011. This is a gorgeous turquoise/teal with silvery shimmer that is just jaw dropping!

One coat of Let Me Fly shows some visible nail line but you could get away with one coat if it was a thicker coat. But just look at this color! The shimmer! Bah! I love it!

Two coats just increases the warmth and depth of this amazing polish! This is one of those ones that you just stare at when it is on your nails! The formula was fantastic!

Now I am sure I have something sort of like this color in my collection but the shimmer really makes it way more special and unique in my collection!

This polish is available at Cult Nails for $12

Indie Month: Day 7 - Cult Nails Enigmatic

Day 7 of Indie Month brings you Cult Nails Enigmatic. This is a Limited Edition color from the "Hypnotic" Collection of 2011.

Here is one coat of Enigmatic. On the Cult Nails site it states: "Slightly thinner than other Cult Nails lacquers, Enigmatic was intended to layer over other colors while providing the option of building to full, deep, eye-catching layers of opacity". Huh, I guess I didn't read that when I bought it. Because the first time I tried it I was a bit sad on how sheer it was. But the shimmer was still very pretty.

But add a second coat and you get full opacity and a gorgeous purple/brown with shimmer! The formula was fine, I had no real issues at all! I am so happy I tried this polish again!

I wouldn't say this was an entirely unique polish in my collection but it is a beauty in and of it's self!

Currently this polish is in stock and on sale for $7

Indie Month: Day 6 - Cult Nails In A Trance

Day 6 of my Indie Month! And today I have Cult Nails In A Trance for you! This is a Limited Edition color from the "Hypnotic" Collection from 2011. It's an olive green with golden shimmer......genius! Ok, I know there is some talk on whether Cult Nails is still an Indie because it is so big. But for me it is, but I call it a Big Indie (same as A England and Lynnderella). I do this because to me they still are not so main stream (like OPI, China Glaze, and Orly) that your normal nail person (or nuggle, a non-nail polish-a-holic person) would know who they are. But that's my logic and some may disagree. :)

One coat of In A Trance. I got my Cult Nails in a sale she had last year, and this is the one I knew I had to have. And I was not disappointed! It's absolutely gorgeous. I love these types of colors!

Two coats. As you can see in the previous picture I could pretty get away with one coat but two coats makes it much more richer! And just look at that shimmer! Wowza! The formula and application was wonderful!

This color isn't all that unique in my collection, in fact I can think of my two or three polishes I have that are similar (maybe I should do a dupe post on that!). But do I still need it? Yep, yep, yep! It is just gorgeous!

This polish is available at Cult Nails for $12

TGIF: 31 Day Challenge 2013 Day 25: Galaxies

31 Day Challenge 2013 (relaxed version) Day 25: Galaxies plus it is TGIF: Thank Goodness, Indy Indie Friday! This is one of the days I was excited to re-visit! I love this style! And yes, I managed to use three different Indies! Woot woot!

***Picture heavy!*** I really wanted to show you the process of this, since I hated it for a bit.

I started out with one coat of Cult Nails Time Traveler. A beautiful deep blue.

I used a makeup sponged to sponge on Cult Nails Let Me Fly. This blue is stunning with amazing shimmer! My little nebula is born!

I decided to add some purple and thought that Flormar U06 would be perfect! It's a shimmery duochrome!

Next I sponged some Essence Wall of Fame, a shimmery yellow. It was here that I really started to hate how it was looking. But I still had a few more polishes to add and was curious to see if I could save it. My nebula looks like junk :(

I added Cult Nails Hypnotize Me. A shimmery green top coat. This is my third Indie on this mani! I use this to tone down the brightness of the yellow.

This is a slightly blurry photo to show you how Cult Nails Hypnotize Me just seems to glow! Love it!

I then decided to soften the edges of my nebula by using Flormar U08, another shimmer duochrome! Ugh, still wasn't too thrilled with this at this point.

I then sponged on China Glaze Pixie Dust into my negative spaces to create the tiny stars. I used Milani White on the Spot to make my slightly bigger stars. Ah, that's what it was missing! I liked how this turned out but I still wasn't super satisfied. Something else was needed. What could it be?

Ah yeah! China Glaze Matte Magic to the rescue! I love how this made the mani deeper and richer. Bah! :) You wanna see something cool?

An ever-so-slightly blurry photo to show that the shimmers of all those amazing polishes are still visible through Matte Magic! Oh yeah! Boo-ya! Mysteries of the deep unfold! :)

The Indies I used today were Cult Nails: Time Traveler, Let Me Fly, and Hypnotize Me. These can all be purchased at the Cult Nails Shop here.

Don't forget to check out Emma's TGIF post as well! (I'll make it easy for you, she is also doing the 31 Day Challenge and so is listed in the link thingy below. You are welcome!)

Doctor Who Inspired Mani

And cue music: weringgrrgrr BADUMBADUMBADUM Dun Duuun Dun Duun OOOWEEOOOOO OOOWWEEOOOOO WEOOOO OOO DUNN DUNN DUN DUUUN OOOWEOOOO OOO OWEOOOO OOOHH OHHHH DUN DUN DUN WAYOWOOOOOOO

My sister and I have this new obsession. Doctor Who. So, for Halloween I decided to be the Tenth Doctor. (dressed up for Trunk or Treat and will be dressing up tomorrow night too!) and she decided to be the Eleventh Doctor! So of course I had to do our nails! :) Abstractly, of course!

I used Cult Nails Time Traveler as my base on three of my nails. This is one coat and applied wonderfully! I then used Pure Ice Platinum Magic Base Coat to make my Tardis windows and sign. I used IsaDora Bronze Patina for the base of my Dalek accent nail. I then dotted using Essie Good As Gold and then Catrice Browno Mars. Abstract but if you are a Whovian then you will recognize them! :)

These are my sister's nails. She said I couldn't do nail art on her nails because they were too short. I scoffed at her! :) I used Pure Ice Platinum Magic Base Coat (2 coats) on her index and ring finger. To create the bow tie and fez (I wear a fez now, fezzes are cool) I mixed Zoya Sooki and Catrice Lost in Mud. I then used Essie Good As Gold for the tassel. I know, I know. There shouldn't be a tassel but it needed something else. I used Cult Nails Time Traveler as the base for her other nails with Pure Ice Platinum Magic Base Coat for the Tardis.

I really loved how these two manis turned out! So much fun!

Oh? You want to see our costumes? OK! :) **Warning, a bit picture heavy!**

Me, as the Tenth Doctor, my sister as the Eleventh Doctor, and my nephew as the Tardis! Bah! I love it!

Full costume. Sonic screwdriver and all! (Er, how about a flashlight with Bundle Monster stamp plate blue plastic taped over it!). Oh and I am carrying my trench (because he wears a trench coat!)

Um.......yep. This is me trying to be silly and Doctor-like. See first photo with my sister and my goofy smile!

This is my favorite! :)

These are some references for our costumes!

Hair reference and glasses!

And the big goofy grin! :) I hope you enjoyed my little homage to Doctor Who! :)
