TGIF: Thank Goodness, Indie Friday! -Daring Digits

So last week I showed you my recent purchases from Daring Digits (click name to sent to etsy shop). I thought I would start up a new feature, TGIF: Thank Goodness, Indie Friday! on Fridays that will showcase the Indie polishes that I purchase.

Today I am only showing you two polishes (out of the 4) from Daring Digits. Next Friday I will show you the others, I want to try and make this a regular feature on my blog.

 This here is Mrs. Peacock by Daring Digits, one coat. Inspired by the board game: Clue. As you can see it is still sheer. I didn't really have any problems getting the glitter out of the bottle. The formula was a bit gloopy but not too bad, it made it easier for the glitter to stick together and actually be used! I love the bright blue of this polish!

This is two coats and look at that color! It's a little bumpy but it's a glitter so that's to be expected. The glitters in this polish twinkle and shine and give the polish an almost metallic quality. Gorgeous! I love it!

This is one coat of Why So Serious? Inspired by Batman villain, The Joker. Very sheer and not super purple when it is only one coat. I tipped the bottle before using it, trying to get the bigger hex glitter to distribute throughout but it didn't really work. And with this coat I had 5 hex big hex glitters spread though out the mani. Which is alright because I am going to do two coats.

Two coats. Huh. No hex glitter, well maybe one. But there is so much hex glitter in the bottle that I think the next time I use it I will use a toothpick or orange stick to swish it around more than just tipping the bottle. But, I still love this polish. It's a deep purple with bright green glitter that just pop will color off the nail. Very unique. This one dried very quickly so I had to brush it on fast. But it didn't leave streaks so I'm not complaining! I love it! It's very dark just like the Joker. I wish I had thought to layer this polish to see it pop as a top coat. Hmmm, maybe I will do that as a mani later on!

Let's Buck the System!

Here is my it's Spring? Who cares I'm going to buck the traditional colors mani! :) I don't pay attention to all the fashion rules. I wear what I want to wear and think others should too. This was brought up in one of the facebook groups I'm in and so I thought I would do a mani on it! :)

I used Zoya Yara, one coat. She is a gorgeous army green with a golden shimmer! Zoya doesn't really like me so I wanted to give it a try. My accent nail is Forever21's Love & Beauty polish called Rust. It is a lovely orange/rust glitter in a clear base. It's just a quick accent that I thought was fun, not my best mani, but we are all allowed one of those every once in a while, crap! Didn't I just say that on Sunday? Shoot! My not-so-great-mani allowance is up! Best kick it into full gear! :)

I'm really wanting a nice brown glitter. After applying Rust I thought some brown glitter would be fun, but I don't have any. Do you know of any?

What are these? Why they are 3 of the Catrice Million Styles the an amazing Gwen from SpaceLife Thoughts! I asked if she could get these for me and she was a real trooper and suceeded! I only wanted these 3 and I am super excited! Thank you so much Gwen, you rock!

Polish butts! (l-r): Holo Que Tal?!, Return of Space Cowboys, and Godfather of Pearl. You can tell that the bottles aren't all the way full. Gwen was really awesome and warned me about that, she said all the ones at the store were like that. I am ok with that because these aren't available here so any that I can get I will take! :)

Teal Tuesdays - Splatter

This Tealicure is a splatter mani! Yikes! I have never done one before. The concept wasn't too hard, but I think I needed a smaller straw to use. But I don't think it turned out too badly! I like how it looks! Though some nails are better than others, it's still fun! :)

I started with two coats of Sinful Colors Savage and splattered Finger Paints Tiffany Imposter and Nails Inc Chelsea Embankment.

Here is Savage alone, two coats. Uh, it's a matte? I had no idea! Made me super excited! This picture is more in the sun than the one previous with the splatter.

Teal Tuesdays was started because teal is unloved and needed its own day of celebration!
Teal is a medium to dark bluish green color of low saturation; a dark cyan.
Open to interpretation, anything green with a hint of blue or blue with a hint of green is welcome here!
Aqua, Turquoise,Tiffany Blue, etc etc...all are welcome - we do not discriminate!

Weekend Haul

So this is going to be a short quick post. I'm not feeling too great to be all witty and clever! :) hahaha! But I thought I would show you what I picked up over the weekend at my local Sallys (I think the ladies there are starting to recognize me!).

Top (l-r): China Glaze Strawberry Fields (pink with a gold shimmer!), China Glaze First Mate (Navy Blue creme), China Glaze Ingrid (Brown with a gold shimmer).
Bottom (l-r): Beauty Secrets Base Coat (I use these for the quick swatches and I like it a lot!), Finger Paints Cerulean Seascape (blue with what looks to be a blue flash), and Sketch-y (brown shimmer).
I also bought some pure acetone because I heard it's really good for cleaning stamps and for clean up of nails!

Can you see a color theme going on? :) I decided I needed some more dark blues in my collection so I picked out the blues first. Then the it was buy two get one on all their polishes! I did buy another polish but it was for a swap and has already left. But none of the other polishes were "speaking" to me but then I remembered reading a post about Ingrid and fell in love (this is the post by Nailside: China Glaze - Ingrid), so when I saw it on the shelf I had to get it! Also, I'm really love these polishes with the gold or silver shimmer in them! Hence my purchase of Strawberry Fields! Sketch-y was just really pretty and needed some love too!

So I have another question:

Do you as readers like haul posts or nail mail posts? Right now with work and school I like to do them because they give me a break in doing manis and I can put them together really quick. But I hope (in three-four weeks) to give you more manis and tutorials and such!

Adventures in Stamping: Easter Mani

So, I realized I only have one real-legitimate Easter themed stamp. Chez-Delaney plate H6. A teeny tiny chick popping out of an egg. Easter! Huh? It's the best I could do in the amount of time I didn't have. But I think it still turned out cute, not the best I've ever done, but we are all allowed these types of days (some more than others).

So I started with Models Own Lemon Meringue. And can I tell you what calming peaceful beautiful creamy yellow this is? I love it! I used two coats because the first coat didn't not go on very smooth and had some rough patches, but the second coat filled them in with no problems!

I added a coat of Seche Vite before topping it off with Essence Nail Art Twin Edward (yep he sparkles!). This is a lovely easy to use teal glitter with clear base. The glitter is green/teal squares with small teal glitter and micro holo glitter. Love!

I used Konad Special White for the eggshell of the stamp and Kleancolors Metallic Yellow for the chick! This is a slightly different look than I'm used to but I like it nonetheless! :)

Here is a shot of the Lemon Meringue, two coats and a coat of Seche Vite. Isn't it purdy! This is one of three Models Own polishes that I own and the first that I have used. This one wasn't the best polish I had ever used but not the worst either, just always a two coat to make it even. No big deal at all! At with that color as a result, I'm smitten! :)

So, I've had this Etsy shop for awhile now but I have revamped it and renamed it to Geeky Owl (coincidence? I think not!) Right now it just carries the bookmarks that I make but I hope to add different items to it eventually, hopefully when school is over I can get back to it all! :)
